The Canadiens acquired the 34th and 189th picks from the Hurricanes in exchange for the 41st and 49th picks. Zharovsky, who is 6-foot-1 and 163 pounds, had 24-26-50 totals in 45 games last season with Ufa Tolpar in Russia's MHL. Zharovsky was ranked fifth among international skaters by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.
