Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Fears MEMRI's Support For A Free Balochistan

Ahead of Israel's preemptive strike against Iran, MEMRI launched the Balochistan Studies Project, headed by renowned Baloch writer Mir Yar Baloch. Balochistan, a nation that has been divided and is currently under Iranian and Pakistani occupation, is the perfect outpost to counter and keep under control Iran, its nuclear ambitions, and its dangerous relations with Pakistan, which exported nuclear know-how to Tehran. Since the launch of the project, Pakistani and Chinese media have been attacking MEMRI and MEMRI Special Advisor Mir Yar Baloch, showing their fear of MEMRI's support for a free Balochistan, as well as for a free Ahwaz, a free Kurdistan, etc.[1] (Source: (Source: MEMRI is exposing Pakistan's war crimes and its terror nexus with Iran and global extremist groups that the Pakistan army and the ISI have been hiding from the West, the global media, and the international community for the last 77 years. MEMRI is also exposing China's hegemonic ambitions and its exploitation of the region. Concerning the role of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the subcontinent, renowned Baloch leader Hyrbyair Marri, the head of the Free Balochistan Movement political platform and one of the most popular leaders among Baloch youth, said: "I have often described China as a foe of the Baloch people. This is not just a sentiment – it is a harsh reality shaped by China's ongoing support for Pakistan, specifically in countering the Baloch struggle for national liberation. China's role in Balochistan is not just about economics; it is about geopolitics, resource exploitation, and the suppression of a nation's right to national liberation." Marri then added: "China's global strategy, fueled by its economic might, is to impose its hegemony on the free world. One of its most significant tools in this endeavour is the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a project aimed at creating military bases in the name of trade routes and infrastructure that benefit China's long-term strategic interests. In Balochistan, this plan is implemented through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The agreement between Pakistan and China is a calculated plan to exploit Balochistan's rich resources while providing China with access to the strategically critical Baloch Sea. Through CPEC, China aims to build naval bases along Balochistan's coast, giving it a foothold in the Arabian Sea. Gwadar, a coastal city at the heart of this project, has been turned into a prison city. The local Baloch population is under constant surveillance and control, unable to move freely in their own homeland." Yet, China's involvement in Balochistan's exploitation started long before CPEC. Numerous declared and undeclared mines across Balochistan are under Chinese control, with little to no benefit for the local population. The Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. (MCC), a state-owned Chinese mining company, has been at the forefront of this exploitation for over 30 years. One of the most prominent examples is the Saindak project, where China has been extracting Balochistan's gold and copper reserves with little transparency or accountability, funneling profits back to China and Pakistan while leaving the Baloch people impoverished. (Source: The impact of China-Pakistan's exploitative policies on the Baloch nation is catastrophic. I have often called the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a "corridor of death and destruction" for the Baloch. Thousands of Baloch have been abducted and disappeared without a trace, hundreds have been killed, and entire communities forcibly displaced to make way for China's resource-grabbing projects. China is not just an economic partner in this; it is actively guiding and aiding Pakistan in its effort to suppress the Baloch national liberation struggle. By providing Pakistan with cutting-edge technology and strategic support, China aims to transform Gwadar into a "Chinese Kaliningrad," a military outpost from which it can dominate the Strait of Hormuz and the Indian Ocean. Meanwhile, Pakistan is carrying out a demographic overhaul in Gwadar, flooding the region with foreign settlers. By 2048, it is projected that Chinese settlers will outnumber the indigenous Baloch population, further erasing the Baloch identity in their own homeland. This demographic shift, combined with the ongoing repression, is part of a deliberate strategy to annihilate the Baloch nation. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a "corridor of death and destruction" for the Baloch (Source: X) Pakistan is deeply fearful of the academic research conducted by MEMRI on Balochistan because it threatens to unveil the harsh realities of state-sponsored repression, ethnic cleansing, and resource exploitation that the Pakistani regime has long concealed from the global stage. Through credible platforms and voices like that of Baloch representative Mir Yar Baloch, MEMRI is exposing the ongoing slow-motion Baloch genocide and the brutal suppression of 60 million Baloch people, who remain voiceless in their own land, lacking a single independent TV channel, radio station, or newspaper. Pakistan's and China's fear stems from the possibility that the international community will recognize its illegitimate occupation and plundering of Balochistan's vast rare earth mineral wealth. The orchestrated smear campaign launched by the Pakistani and Chinese media against MEMRI and Mir Yar Baloch follows a uniform narrative, suggesting coordination by the ISI and CCP to discredit the truth and suppress international scrutiny. For over seven decades, Pakistan's army has kept Balochistan deliberately disconnected from international media, and MEMRI's efforts to inform the West about the region's plight challenge this long-standing information blackout, threatening the very foundation of Pakistan's occupation and the CCP's exploitation of Balochistan.
