#SHOWBIZ: Ziana Zain is proud of niece Ernie Zakri, now a famous singer
KUALA LUMPUR: Ziana Zain never imagined that the little girl who sang her song at a wedding ceremony some 27 years ago would grow up to be a famous singer. Ziana, 57, was referring to her niece, Ernie Zakri, 32, who is now a renowned female vocalist with a string of hit songs such as 'Masing Masing' and 'Aura'. Proud of Ernie's achievements, Ziana admitted that she also never expected to share the stage with her niece. They are both set to perform at the 'Empat Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025' concert at the Mega Star Arena KL on Oct 18. "In 1998, Ernie sang the song 'Berpisah Jua' at my wedding. She was also my flower girl," Ziana recounted in jest. "Even though the song choice was 'wrong,' who would have thought that the 'chubby' little girl wearing a ribbon on her head would now be a singer?" "She used to watch us (Ziana and her brother Anuar Zain) sing. Now, Ernie and I will share not only the stage but also the fans," she was quoted as saying in a news report today, referring to the recent press conference for the 'Live In Kuala Lumpur 2025 Four Concerts' held here. "For me, this is a very interesting combination because it involves two different generations." Apart from Ziana and Ernie, Anuar Zain and Ernie's husband Syamel will also be performing at the concert. Ziana admitted she was thrilled that her dream of staging a concert with all four of them is finally coming true.

Empat is the name - Malaysian music legends team up with family members to become music's new super quartet
The dice has been set and it heralds a new beginning for Malaysian music and also for the South-East Asia entertainment scene. Meet the new quartet set to break new grounds in the local and international entertainment scene. They are aptly called Empat and will feature legendary singers and siblings Ziana Zain and Anuar Zain, along with their niece, award-winning singer Ernie Zakrie, and her husband Syamel, a well-known singer-composer who was also a member of Akademi Fantasia 2015 franchise. And then comes the 'Empat Live in KL 2025', which will be held at the Mega Star Arena on Oct 18. It will also mark the first concert collaboration between the four family members, each of whom has made a significant and lasting impacts on the Malaysian music industry. They will take to the stage in a performance of love for their fans who have shown immense support through ticket purchases shortly after the concert was announced last month. Already 85% of the concert tickets have been sold and it is expected to be sold out by end the month. And the love that they have received from their fans will see the four becoming a brand of their own with future collaborations. To start things off, the four top musicians among the superstars of Malaysian music for that long, will combine their skills for a new single in celebration of the concert. They are already working with Edry Abdul Halim of legendary group KRU for the new singles expected to hit the charts in August well before the concert. "This is not a one-off thing. That I can promise everyone. It is a great start and we all agreed that we want to continue with this new combination and we have several things planned for the group," said a happy Anuar Zain. "But one thing for sure, Empat is the new brand in town. That is for real. "Besides the concert, we have the upcoming single which we will announce to all soon. On the questions of coming out with a album, all four of us are not going there yet. It may come in the future, we will take everything step by step and the important part, is enjoying this new venture." As for the concert, organised by Anuar Zain Network and co-organised by Altus ProHouse -- Ziana Zain, who has been crooning unforgettable tunes for music lovers since 1991, said all four of them are overwhelmed by the support shown by the fans. "I can't wait for October. Words can't express what your support means to us. I hope October 18 becomes a phenomenon in the industry – it's the first time a family of artists is doing a concert like this. It will be our most memorable night,' said Ziana. She also has been preparing mentally and physically – hitting the gym and watching her diet. Ziana also teased fans about the concert content. "There will be many hit songs, and even some that haven't been performed in a long time will be revived on this night. Just like Anuar, Syamel, and Ernie, I'm focused on lyrics and mental preparation," said Ziana. "In many ways, this concert is our (Empat) gift of love and tribute to the journey of their artistic careers, and it will be performed with sheer magic on show night. This is our promise to you (fans)." Anuar Zain, Ernie Zakrie, and her husband Syamel also expressed their deep gratitude to the fans for their strong support. "I hope everyone who bought tickets will truly be present at Mega Star Arena on the night and be part of this beautiful memory we are creating together,' said Anuar. "With this family collaboration, we hope the concert will satisfy everyone and we are aiming to truly entertain all our fans. Expect some singalongs and interaction between us four and the audience… Let's bring the house down," he said. The Ernie-Syamel couple also said they are fully focused on preparing to deliver his best for the audience. "Right now, all four of us are preparing mentally and physically to give our all and satisfy our beloved fans. Come with open hearts and minds. Let's celebrate this beautiful moment together and create an unforgettable memory at Empat Live in Kuala Lumpur 2025," said Ernie. 'I can say this will be a historic night for me personally and for the industry – a first for a family of singers to perform together in such a major concert. This show wouldn't be possible without the fans. Everywhere I go, people say they've already bought tickets. It touches my heart and I can't wait to pour our love into the performance,' said Ernie. Syamel, too, feels this concert will be a beautiful, lasting memory – not just for the four of them, but for the loyal fans. "Those in the audience aren't just spectators – they're the heartbeat of this historic night. "We're not just singers – we're here to share love, stories, and the rollercoaster of our musical journey. I want the audience to travel and reminisce through the song selections that we'll present on October 18 at Mega Star Arena. It's my hope that our performance will truly touch their hearts,' said Syamel. Meanwhile, Sze Wan, the renowned music director, is at the helm of the historic concert. She is thrilled and describes the concert as a musical journey of Malaysian ballads that unites eras and generations, still well-loved by fans today. "Empat Live in Kuala Lumpur 2025 can be described as a musical journey, especially in the ballad genre, spanning from the era of diva Ziana Zain, to the phenomenon of 'Lelaki Ini' by Anuar Zain, wrapped in the modern vocal stylings and fusion genres brought to life by Ernie Zakri and Syamel,' shared Sze Wan. "It will be one unforgettable affair and there will definitely be many special moments." Rajeev Sen Slams Ex-Wife Charu Asopa For Defamation: 'You're Enjoying Bad Comments About Me'
Rajeev Sen and Charu Asopa clash again post-divorce. Allegations, vlogs, and parenting drama unfold as they speak out about daughter Ziana and each other. The post-divorce drama between Rajeev Sen and Charu Asopa continues to unfold publicly through their YouTube vlogs. The former couple, who ended their marriage in 2023 after four years, have often shared details of their strained relationship online, even after legally parting ways. Their latest exchange revolves around their daughter Ziana and allegations of limited parenting access. In a recent vlog, Rajeev expressed frustration over not getting adequate time with Ziana and questioned how parenting responsibilities are being handled. Charu responded with a pointed message in her vlog, stating, 'A parent is not offered the privilege of being present, they just have to be around." Taking issue with Charu's remarks and frequent mentions of his name, Rajeev retaliated in a new video, claiming she was portraying him negatively. 'You are enjoying bad comments about me and most of them are paid PR, we all know that. That's why I was worried that no one misuses the money," he said, indicating concerns over financial matters related to alimony or his daughter's expenses. Addressing Charu directly, Rajeev stated, 'You gave so many interviews against me and I didn't say anything, now I won't stay quiet anymore." He further countered her previous claims that he was absent during her pregnancy. 'She accused me of not being with her during the pregnancy, that's not the case. I was there with her. I have vlogs to prove it. She was the one running away from me. Don't say that I was gone for 4 months, that's not true." Charu, in an earlier video, defended her position, stating she has never prevented Rajeev from meeting their daughter. 'I have never stopped you from meeting your daughter. I might have said that please change the time or adjust your plans but I never refused," she said. She also emphasised maintaining ties with Rajeev's family, saying, 'I have been cordial with his family and maintained all relationships with his side of the family as she believes that it is essential for their daughter to grow up in a harmonious family." Despite their divorce, the two have appeared together at various family gatherings and taken vacations with Ziana. Both insist that these efforts are made solely for the well-being of their daughter. Sushmita Sen's brother Rajeev Sen breaks silence on allegations made by ex-wife Charu Asopa and not being able to meet daugter Ziana: 'We are both difficult people'
Sushmita Sen 's brother Rajeev Sen and actress Charu Asopa separated leaving fans quite heartbroken. Charu has now moved to Bikaner and said that she moved there because she cannot affort to stay in Mumbai. She had said in an interview, "I have shifted to my hometown Bikaner, Rajasthan. I have left Mumbai for now, and I am currently living with my parents. It's been more than a month since Ziana and I moved here." She also indicated that she's not getting any money from ex-husband Rajeev Sen to raise their daughter Ziana. Rajeev who has a Youtube channel has now reacted to Charu's allegations and said that due to her shifting to Bikaner, their daughter Ziana is suffering. He said, "Charu ne decision liya of moving to Bikaner joh mujhe bohot odd lagaa because she made a bold decision in a short time. She belongs to Bikaner but she took a big step in a short time. I didn't understand it. This was her decision. The reason she gave us was a financial problem and that she couldn't afford Mumbai. People asked me if I'm helping Charu financially for Ziana. It's a private thing. I am not answerable to anyone about the money I give. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo I won't stoop down to the level where I show my bank statements to everyone about how much money I've given." She added, "Do you think she cannot afford to stay in Mumbai? I know people with a salary of Rs 40-50k thousand with three children who are living in Mumbai. Having said that, I feel Charu will come back to Mumbai. She will keep getting work opportunities here so it doesn't make sense to stay in Bikaner." He reacted to the video of Charu selling clothes online and said, "I saw that video and I'm proud of her because koi bhi kaam chhota ya bada nahi hota (Every work should be respected. No work is big or small). But I wonder why was she dressed like that? She is always well dressed in all her vidoes but here, there is no make-up and she's not dressed up. Charu has never dressed up like this. 9 out of 10 times, she's well dressed with make-up. So that video of her selling clothes seemed like a set-up. Charu doesn't behave like this." Further talking about their relationship Rajeev said, "Kisi bhi relationship mein dekhoge, specially celebrity relationships that aadmi ko bohot jaldi villain banaa diya jaata hai. I'm not perfect. I will never say that Charu only has flaws and I'm innocent. I will never say that. We are just two difficult people. If you think Charu is innocent, that's not the case. Neither am I innocenent. We are all humans. We make mistakes. But koi bhi insaan ek ko bhagwaan banaade aur doosre ko giraake toh it's not logical." Talking about not spending time with their daughter Ziana, Rajeev said, "Chaahe beshak charu Bikaner chali gayi hu, I can go to meet my daughter Ziana. But I feel there has to be a healthy communication. She loves her daughter as much as I love. She's fortunate that she can spend time with her but I cannot spend time, especially now because she has moved out of Mumbai. But efforts have to come from both ends for the well-being of the child, without ego. We need to be giving each other respect." He further said, "The woman will always have a bigger role to play, especially when the child is with her. I have very limited resources. I can only do video calls, or I can go meet her (Ziana). More than anything else, I feel very bad for Ziana. At least if nothing else, there was no need for Charu to leave Bombay. Because ghoom phir kea ap log dekh lena, she will come back to Bombay. And I'm not saying for me. She will come back, she will settle down again here. " Rajeev also revealed what went wrong between them. "Charu will never say this because she thinks she is always right and I'm always wrong. He said, "We were two strong headed individuals. Ek dusre ko samajh nahi paaye. Ek dusre ko respect nahi kar paaye. Pyaar toh bohot tha. But I feel like whatever happened was for the highest good. For her and for me. When it comes to Ziana, if Charu genuinely wants a father's love for her daughter, she needs to play the bigger role because Ziana is with her. "

Rajeev Sen On Ex-Wife Charu Asopa Moving To Bikaner: ‘She Will Come Back'
Last Updated: Sushmita Sen's brother Rajeev Sen says his ex-wife Charu Asopa's move to Bikaner has made it difficult for him to be present in daughter Ziana's life as a father. Rajeev Sen, and his ex-wife Charu Asopa have been hitting the headlines after the latter moved to Bikaner with their daughter Ziana. Charu earlier said that she informed Rajeev about her plan to move, and that he can always visit his daughter in Bikaner. In his latest video, Rajeev Sen reacted to Charu's move, saying it has made it difficult for him to be present in their daughter Ziana's life, as he can't travel to Bikaner every weekend. He said that there was 'absolutely no need' for his ex-wife to leave Mumbai, and that he is sure she will come back and settle again in Mumbai. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Rajeev Sen said, 'The woman will always have a bigger role to play, especially when the child is with her. I have very limited resources. I can only do video calls, or I can go meet her (Ziana). Right now, she is not in Bombay. More than anything else, I feel very bad for Ziana. At least if nothing else, there was no need for Charu to leave Bombay. Absolutely no need. Because ghoom phir kea ap log dekh lena, she will come back to Bombay. And I'm not saying for me. She will come back, she will settle down again here." He said that after living and working in the city for so many years, one gets used to the lifestyle and builds friendships. He said that visiting Ziana has become a challenge, because he cannot go to Bikaner every weekend. 'Unki bhi ek lifestyle rahi hai yaha pe. Bikaner is completely different. Main agar Bikaner jaau bhi, toh aisa nahi hai ki every weekend I'll be going to Bikaner. I live here and I keep travelling for work to other places. It will never be easy for me to keep going to Bikaner all the time. Main jaunga zaroor. (I will definitely go)," said Rajeev. Rajeev Sen Says He And Charu Asopa Are 'Strong Headed People' He further added that he and his ex-wife are both strong headed people, who couldn't understand each other. 'Ek dusre ko samajh nahi paaye. Ek dusre ko respect nahi kar paaye. Pyaar toh bohot tha. (We couldn't understand each other. We couldn't respect each other. There was a lot of love, though). But I feel like whatever happened was for the highest good. For her and for me." He further added, 'When it comes to Ziana, if Charu genuinely wants a father's love for her daughter, she needs to play the bigger role because Ziana is with her." Rajeev said that Ziana is too young to understand what's really happening. He believes this situation applies to many divorced couples with children. He emphasized that children should be allowed to meet their fathers, regardless of issues between the parents. According to him, while couples can separate if they have problems, it's a child's right to receive love from both their mother and father. 'Unfortunately, I haven't been able to spend time with Ziana as a father should do. Dropping her to school, picking her up. Sometimes I feel I am a father, but baap banne ka mauka hi nahi mila," he concluded. First Published:
