Arsenal's three-man transfer shortlist emerges as £17m price tag set

Arsenal are eying moves for a new striker, winger and midfielder this summer, with Mikel Arteta hoping to add some extra depth and quality to his squad ahead of the new season Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to lead the Gunners to their first Premier League title since 2004. Arsenal have finished second for the past three seasons and Arteta has promised a "big" summer in the transfer market. "It's going to be a big one and we are very excited about it," Arteta said. "The way we planned the five first summers, they were going to be very big and they were going to have different objectives because the turnaround of players and the objective of those windows was going to be different. ‌ "But now when you are going to go again, we want to increase the depth of the squad but as well we want to increase the quality and the skills that we need to go to the next step." ‌ Arsenal have yet to make any new signings so far, but they are hoping to seal some deals in the coming weeks. And with all that in mind, Mirror Football has taken a look at all the latest transfer news and rumours from the Emirates... Three-man shortlist Arsenal are looking to sign a new winger this summer and the Athletic are reporting that Rodrygo, Anthony Gordon and Nico Williams have all been discussed by club chiefs. Williams looks set to join Barcelona this summer after agreeing personal terms, while Gordon signed a new long-term deal with Newcastle last October. As a result, Rodrygo is viewed as the most likely option and the player is said to be open to leaving Real Madrid. However, Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has stated he wants to keep Rodrygo, stating last month: "He's a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so. We'll get to know each other. He's a spectacular player and we need him." Zinchenko price tag set Arsenal have slapped a £17m price tag on Oleksandr Zinchenko and AC Milan are willing to meet their demands. ‌ Zinchenko made just five league starts last season, with the likes of Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori ahead of him in the pecking order. According to Corriere dello Sport, Milan have lined up Zinchenko as a replacement for Theo Hernandez. Hernandez is closing in on a move to Al-Hilal and Zinchenko is said to be open to joining Milan, with his wages the only potential stumbling block. Club Brugge left-back Maxim De Cuyper is said to have been identified as a potential alternative. ‌ Gyokeres threat According to Portuguese outlet Record, Viktor Gyokeres has made it clear that he wants to join Arsenal after speaking with Sporting president Federico Varandas. Gyokeres and Varandas are said to have spoken on the phone, with the striker threatening to never play another game for the club and claiming that he will 'never forgive' them if the deal falls through. However, Varandas has publicly stated that he will not be 'blackmailed' into selling the player on the cheap. "Threats, blackmail and insults don't work with me. "I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €60m+10m (£51m+£8.5m) because I never promised him that," Varandas said.

Fulham eyeing transfer move for 'frustrated' Arsenal star

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has encouraged the club to explore a transfer move for Arsenal misfit Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer. Zinchenko made just five Premier League starts last season having fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates, with both Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori preferred at left-back. And while Zinchenko remains one of Mikel Arteta's most trusted lieutenants in the dressing room, speculation is mounting that the 28-year-old may have played his final match for the Gunners. AC Milan, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund have all been keeping tabs on Zinchenko's situation and could be drawn into a bidding war for the former Manchester City star over the coming weeks. According to The Sun, Fulham are the latest team to enter the running for Zinchenko's signature, with Silva said to be an admirer of the Ukrainian's ability and willingness to cover a number of positions. It's claimed Fulham are confident they could strike a cut-price deal in the region of £10million for the four-time Premier League winner, who has grown increasingly 'frustrated' with his bit-part role in north London. The report adds that Zinchenko and his family are well settled in the capital and would be reluctant to up sticks, which would appear to give the Cottagers the upper hand over the likes of Milan, Ajax and BVB. It's understood Fulham – determined to improve on their 11th-placed finish last season – are also looking to strengthen up front, at right-back and in central midfield before the 2025/26 campaign gets underway. Zinchenko's current contract expires in 2026, meaning Arsenal bosses must decide whether to cash in on the Ukraine international now or risk losing him on a free transfer in 12 months' time. In March, Zinchenko refused to rule out the possibility that he could be set for a fresh challenge away from Arsenal. 'I don't know yet to be honest,' he said at the time. 'If I knew, I could tell you. It's still a long way to go until the end of the season. 'I think we are at the stage and the most interesting period of the season, where every single game is a final and you never know what is going to happen in football.' More Trending Zinchenko stressed that he was still enjoying his time at Arsenal, despite finding himself increasingly on the periphery of Arteta's plans. 'Honestly, I am so happy to be part of this amazing club and team. It is really a joy to be close to these guys,' he added. 'Whenever the team and head coach needs me, I am there. In any position they need me, I am there to help. 'Even if I will be in the stands, I will try to make an impact as much as I can, to push the others, just to hug someone, whatever! It is really a joy to be here.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Arsenal could make Viktor Gyokeres' dream by sacrificing 'Mr Composure'

Arsenal are still in the market for a striker, and should they move for Viktor Gyokeres, the Swedish star's favoured shirt number could be available, with one Gunners' star likely to move on The player known as 'Mr Composure' appears set to bid farewell to Arsenal this summer, potentially leaving his shirt number as a welcome gift for Viktor Gyokeres. After three seasons with the club, Oleksandr Zinchenko might now be heading for the exit at the Emirates Stadium. With Mikel Arteta's hunt for a striker still ongoing, Zinchenko's potential departure could free up the number 17 jersey for Gyokeres, should Arsenal make a move for the Sporting CP striker ‌ Gyokeres has famously donned the No. 9 jersey during his prolific spell in Portugal. However, that number is currently occupied by Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal. But the No. 17 also holds significance for the Swedish star, having previously worn it at Coventry City, IF Brommapojkarna and for his national team, reports Football London. ‌ At present, it's believed that Arteta prefers RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko to bolster his attack. Yet if a switch to Gyokeres happens, the jersey looks likely to be available for the 27-year-old, provided Zinchenko gets the go-ahead to leave North London. Despite Zinchenko appearing surplus to requirements at Arsenal, the Ukrainian star has been the subject of much admiration from his teammates and manager over the years. Declan Rice once dubbed him 'Mr Composure' following a typically reliable performance. After Zinchenko's mishap contributed to a tight 2-1 victory over Wolves in December 2023, Arteta stood by his player, saying: "You have to love him, how he is. Every player has strengths and weaknesses. Alex has many more strengths." William Saliba also showered praise on his teammate. He took to Instagram, lauding Zinchenko with a comment under a photo of the player engaged in padel: "You the best at everything [love heart eyes emoji]." Arsenal are rumoured to have slapped a £17 million valuation on Zinchenko, a price AC Milan seem prepared to meet. Despite this, it's understood that the Gunners may be open to a lower offer, considering Zinchenko is approaching the final year of his contract. ‌ With just 15 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League last term, Zinchenko's season was marred by injury setbacks. The rise of Myles Lewis-Skelly appears to be an obstacle to Zinchenko's progress at Arsenal, with the English prodigy reportedly on the verge of penning a new deal. Furthermore, Riccardo Calafiori has often been preferred at left-back over Zinchenko throughout the campaign. In March, Zinchenko expressed uncertainty about his career prospects. "I don't know yet to be honest," said the 26 year old. "If I knew, I could tell you. It's still a long way to go until the end of the season. "Honestly, I am so happy to be part of this amazing club and team. It is really a joy to be close to these guys. Whenever the team and head coach needs me, I am there.
