No. 1 pick Cam Ward shows Titans he's a ‘gunslinger' who won't back down
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Months before playing his first NFL game, Cam Ward has already shown the Titans that he's not going to back down to anyone. At mandatory minicamp last week, three-time Pro Bowl tackle Jeffery Simmons, the leader of Tennessee's defense, barked at the No. 1 overall pick between plays. On another occasion, after Ward threw an interception, several defenders taunted him with the "Zombieland" celebration he made famous at Miami. But the rookie gave it right back to them — even headbutting Simmons for getting too close. In team drills, Ward confidently delivered the play call to his offensive teammates in the huddle like nothing had happened. How he did so — refocusing after talking trash to the defense — impressed coach Brian Callahan, who's not used to calling plays while his quarterback is still jawing. "I asked him after practice, 'Just help me out here: Do you need me to wait till you finish?' And he goes, 'No, I'm listening,'" Callahan said last week. "So he's hearing what I'm telling him, and it was pretty remarkable to see all the things going on and how much he's talking, but like his brain is still with me, I guess is the best way to put it. When I'm calling a play, he's doing all he's doing, but he's listening to everything I'm telling him. And he enters right into the huddle, and he calls the play and doesn't screw up the play call, and I thought that was actually kind of remarkable. I know I couldn't do that. So that's just kind of who he is, that's his personality. "He didn't miss a beat when it came to calling a play and being on top of it and then executing when it came time to execute. So that's a new experience for me, but it was fun." It shows, simultaneously, Ward's supreme focus and confidence, the biggest takeaways from the No. 1 pick during the Titans' offseason program. We don't yet know what the former Miami star will look like come fall, or if he'll be able to live up to franchise quarterback-sized expectations. But at the very least, his mindset gives him a chance to meet them. Throughout the spring, Ward arrived at the Titans facility around 5 a.m. — earlier than many coaches — to watch film with some of the rookie pass-catchers. He spent so much time in the building that Callahan felt compelled to remind him that the NFL season is a marathon. RELATED: How to measure success for Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, other rookie QBs in 2025 RELATED: How Cam Ward built his unshakable confidence: 'He has a boulder on his shoulder' Ward was consistently one of the last players to leave the field after practice. After the final day of minicamp, while many of his teammates greeted their friends and family in attendance, Ward did sprints. After miscommunications during 7-on-7 and team periods, he readily spoke up to veteran receivers like Calvin Ridley and Van Jefferson. He constantly chatted with quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree between reps and drills. "He asks really good questions," Callahan said. "He understands when he makes a mistake, which [the rookies] all make plenty, and we have conversations about it. He's got a humility about him, so he knows when it's time to step back and try to get better and see where he can do things differently. And then there's the moment, when the moment comes, when he's like, 'I'm going to make this throw,' and he makes it. So there's a balance, but he understands when it's time to learn and when to take a step back from the confidence part of it and where can he improve, and that part's been good to see." Ward showed plenty of comfort throwing over the middle of the field, but some of the situational work posed challenges. Of the three interceptions he threw in offseason practices open to the media, two came in red zone work on the last day of minicamp (one apiece in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11). But he also showed an ability to bounce back. After having a would-be touchdown pass broken up in the end zone, he connected on a tight window throw for a touchdown. "At the end of the day, I'm a gunslinger," Ward said. "I live it. I always die by it. Coach Callahan knows what kind of guy he has in the quarterback room in me." What he's also learning is that Ward is not afraid to go at the defense verbally. Watching the No. 1 pick go at Simmons, one of the league's best players at his position, offensive coordinator Nick Holz couldn't help but think how that energy was missing on offense last year. "We needed a little bit of edge to us, and so far — it's June — but Cam has a little bit of that to him," Holz said. "And everybody feeds off of that, which is good." After finishing his first NFL offseason, Ward said his confidence is at "10." His summer plan is to, simply, "work out, stay in the playbook and throw the f--- out the ball." When training camp starts next month, the trash talk with the defense is expected to resume. "I'm always locked in," Ward said. "Trash talk, it never means nothing to me. It won't get to me in some type of way. I'm just somebody who likes doing it. What's the point of playing something you love if you can't have fun with it? "Any chance I get to let somebody know that they can't f--- with me." Ben Arthur is an NFL reporter for FOX Sports. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's ‘underrated' thriller now streaming
An underrated crime film from over 10 years ago starring two of Hollywood's biggest stars is currently streaming Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone's forgotten team-up from 2013 has just been added to Prime Video. The A-list Hollywood duo are best known for portraying love interests in the romantic-comedy Crazy Stupid Love and the Oscar-winning musical La La Land. However, they co-starred together in between these two hits in a wildly different film that's been all but forgotten. Helmed by Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, Gangster Squad received middling reviews when it was first released and was not a huge hit amongst movie buffs. Gosling stars as Sergeant Jerry Wooters, a WWII veteran tasked with bringing down Los Angeles mob leader Mickey Cohen (played by Sean Penn), along with fellow cop Sergeant John O'Mara (Josh Brolin). Stone features in the film as Grace Faraday, an etiquette teacher close to Cohen who eventually falls for Jerry in this glossy send-up of hard-boiled noir thrillers. While Gangster Squad didn't capture audiences' imaginations as much as their other two collaborations, Gosling and Stone fans should definitely take this opportunity to give it another go now it's on Prime Video. Plenty of fans have reassessed the film as an underrated gem, with a Letterboxd reviewer saying: 'Definitely underrated as a movie and I definitely didn't expect it to get such bad reviews on several famous platforms... 'Although its script and plot were nothing out of the ordinary and original the film's vibes and noir genre were definitely what I loved about it!' Another wrote: 'This one smashed it out of the park for me. I had low expectations going in but came out very pleasantly surprised and to be honest, pretty damn impressed. 'Great cast, superb production design, fantastic shootouts and overall, really well made and hugely enjoyable. I loved it.' Get 30 days of Prime Video totally free £8.99 £0 Amazon Get Prime Video here Product Description And someone else asked: 'What did this movie ever do to you guys to receive all bad ratings?' The film received a similar appraisal from a recent Reddit post, as a moviegoer argued: 'Gangster Squad (2013) is actually pretty good. 'This one really surprised me... And just to clarify right off of the bat, I'm not saying I think it deserved any Oscars or anything, but it's way more fun than I was expecting the gangster-movie from the director of Zombieland, Venom, and Uncharted to be... (man, Ruben Fleischer has an odd filmography.)' There are also scores of five-star Google reviews for the film, including one calling it 'CRIMINALLY UNDERATED'. 'This is the modern day untouchables,' it continued. '1940s LA is such a beautiful setting. The writing for the characters is great. 'A true sense of brotherhood. Sean Penn portrays a terrifying Mickey Cohen. The action is top notch.' Don't let Gangster Squad fall off your radar if you've not yet checked out Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's most misunderstood cinematic team-up.

Inside the most A-list lido in London that only costs £5 to enter – with Harry Styles and Andrew Garfield as fans
One Hollywood star even borrowed trunks from a lifeguard to make sure he could take a dip in the water SWIM UP Inside the most A-list lido in London that only costs £5 to enter – with Harry Styles and Andrew Garfield as fans Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE weather is heating up, summer is on its way, and there is a UK lido where you can go for a swim as well as a bit of celeb spotting. Celebrity-loved places are often exclusive to high-end clubs or restaurants, but Hampstead Heath is one where even 'normal' folk can visit for less than a fiver. There's the mixed pool, as well as Kenwood Ladies' and Highgate Men's pond - and there's Parliament Hill Fields Lido just down the road. The natural bathing ponds attract around 700,000 people every year and are often described as "a treasure" and one of "London's fantastic green gems" by visitors. Despite feeling quite secluded by those who visit, there are lifeguards on duty. None of the swim spots have changing facilities, so you'll have to wear your swim gear underneath your clothes. There are toilets and an outdoor shower. Lots of swimmers like to clamber out and enjoy a picnic on the grassy banks afterwards too. With lots of celebrities calling Hampstead Heath home, it's no surprise that a few familiar faces have been spotted cooling off in the ponds over the years. Harry Styles, the ex-One Direction star, has been seen multiple times enjoying the bathing ponds. One summer, he had temperatures soaring even higher when he practised his diving skills. One onlooker said: 'He kept a low profile and went mostly unrecognised. He was swimming laps and practising his diving.' According to Camden New Journal, Woody didn't bring a pair of swimming trunks with him, so he borrowed a pair of swimming trunks from a lifeguard. Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, actor Benedict Cumberbatch and broadcaster Dermot O'Leary are also said to be frequent swimmers. Back in 2018, Kendall Jenner stripped off for a project that was filmed in the ponds for Love Magazine's 10th anniversary issue. Spider-Man, aka actor Andrew Garfield, also revealed he's a regular in the London waters. Talking to Time Out, he said: "I love swimming in Hampstead Ponds. You feel close to nature – it's such a rare, beautiful thing." 5 During the summer swimming in the ponds has to be booked in advance Credit: Alamy During busy periods in the summer months (starting May 26), you will need to book a slot before heading down to the ponds or pool. Tickets are available through Eventbrite for £4.60. Bookable slots are between the hours of 12pm and 6pm with each being for for a 50 minute swim session. Tickets are released through Eventbrite on Mondays at 12pm for the following seven days (Tuesday to Monday). The morning sessions between the hours of 7am-11.30am and the evening sessions between 6.30pm-8.30pm are on a first come first served basis. If it's busy, then there will be queues outside - which there often are when temperatures rise. The Highgate Men's Pond and Kenwood Ladies' Pond are open year-round. Hampstead Mixed Pond is open from mid-April to October and in winter it's only open to members of the Hampstead Heath Winter Swimming Club. For any regulars, it could be worth investing in a season ticket. For Parliament Hill Lido this costs £240 for 12 months. A year-long membership to the ponds costs £150, and a combined membership is £268. For anyone not in the capital, here are the UK's best outdoor water parks and lidos. And good news for any outdoor swimmers in Portsmouth as the UK's deepest lido is reopening this summer.

WATCH: Burglars Ransack Bill Maher's Swanky LA Weed Shop
A cannabis dispensary and lounge co-owned by political pundit Bill Maher and actor Woody Harrelson was burglarized by a team of masked thieves. Surveillance footage posted to social media shows five hoodie-clad men smashing through a glass window to The Woods in West Hollywood and then haphazardly stuffing sacks with merchandise. The same video shows the crew hitting a different LA dispo that night, although the operation ran less smoothly. At ERBA Markets, which shares minority owners with The Woods, the robbers encountered an armed security guard, who quickly opened fire. The men can be seen fleeing the gun shots. They dove into a black SUV, which sped away. KTLA 5 reported that no one was hit and that the robbers were unable to take anything from ERBA. At Maher's and Harrelson's shop, however, they absconded with as much as $3,000 in merchandise, ABC 7 reported. 'They went in and they just randomly took stuff off the shelves,' Michael Berman, another co-owner, told the outlet of the Thursday robbery. 'While there was a lot of mess from the broken glass, nobody was hurt. They got merchandise, but they didn't actually damage too much inside.' The Los Angeles Police Department told the Daily Beast that the suspects are still at large and that an investigation into the incidents is ongoing. The Woods launched in 2022 with Harrelson, 63, as the majority owner and Maher, 69, as one of its minority owners. The tropical-themed shop sells a wide range of cannabis products and features several cabana-style lounges where patrons can get stoned. Maher, who hosts the HBO politics show Real Time, and Harrelson, known for starring in hits like Zombieland and The Hunger Games, have both emerged as high-profile advocates for the legal cannabis industry. Maher has made a habit out of smoking weed while recording his podcast, Club Random. Last year, Maher admitted to losing out on an interview with Jackass star Steve-O—who is long sober—because he refused to abstain from weed for the episode. Maher called Steve-O's request 'ridiculous.' In a 2024 interview with Los Angeles magazine—conducted at The Woods while Maher was high—he opened up about his marijuana habit. 'I don't smoke every day and never have,' he said. 'I'm a situational pot smoker. I would never get high to do Real Time. I can do stand-up high because I don't have to worry about a clock. I like it for sex. And I like it for writing.' Harrelson told CBS in 2023 that he became a proponent of cannabis despite a conservative upbringing—and against his mother's best wishes. 'She'd be sitting there, she'd have her coffee and cigarette and everything in the morning, you know,' he recalled of his mom. 'And she'd be like, 'Son, if I ever hear that you're smoking marijuana …it'll just kill me!'" Nevertheless, he's proud to own The Woods, calling it 'just a little dream of what a great dispensary could be.' Neither Maher or Harrelson has addressed the burglary publicly, and representatives for each did not immediately return the Daily Beast's requests for comment.

Ralph Fiennes to play villain President Snow in new Hunger Games film
Conclave star Ralph Fiennes has been cast as the villain President Coriolanus Snow in the new Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise On The Reaping. The 62-year-old English actor will take on the role of President Snow in the film adaptation of the fifth book in the franchise. The book was published in March 2025 and is a prequel to the original trilogy, which was made into the popular films starring US actress Jennifer Lawrence. The new film follows a young Haymitch Abernathy, one of the few Hunger Games winners from the same district as the original trilogy's protagonist Katniss Everdeen, played by Lawrence. Played by Zombieland actor Woody Harrelson, Haymitch is first introduced to readers in the original trilogy as the alcoholic mentor to tributes Katniss and Peeta Mellark, played by Bridge To Terabithia's Josh Hutcherson, before they are sent off to fight to the death in a televised arena. The prequel follows Haymitch as he is drawn to fight in the 50th Hunger Games, a violent entertainment set up to maintain control in the fictional country of Panem, and faces double the amount of tributes, two boys and two girls, who are selected from each district. The film is based on the series written by American author Suzanne Collins and will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed the Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part I, and Mockingjay Part II films which starred Lawrence alongside Hutcherson and Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. Lawrence also directed the most recent film The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes, based on the prequel published in 2020, which starred West Side Story star Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth, who played a young Snow before he became president. Fiennes is best known for portraying Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and for playing Amon Goeth in Schindler's List, for which he won the 1994 supporting actor Bafta award. is due to hit cinemas on 20 November, 2026.
