Dozens Killed in Escalating Israeli Strikes Across Gaza Overnight
DaysofPal – From midnight Friday until dawn Saturday, the Gaza Strip endured one of its most harrowing nights in recent weeks, as relentless Israeli airstrikes, heavy bombardment, and constant drone and jet overflights turned the skies into a source of terror for families sheltering in homes, tents, and schools.
Hospital sources in Gaza reported that at least 55 Palestinians were killed across multiple areas in the Strip on Friday alone, including six civilians who were waiting for humanitarian aid. Another 35 were reported killed overnight, as strikes intensified in both the north and south.
The Nasser Medical Complex confirmed that six people were killed and more than ten injured in a strike on tents sheltering displaced civilians in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis.
Local sources stressed that al-Mawasi had been designated by the Israeli army as a 'safe zone' and had seen mass displacement into its vicinity following Israeli evacuation orders in Khan Younis. Despite this designation, Israeli forces reportedly completed the evacuation of all residential neighborhoods in Khan Younis, sparing only small portions of al-Mawasi.
Elsewhere in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of northern Gaza City, Israeli shelling hit a shelter school, wounding dozens of displaced Palestinians. Another missile struck al-Shafi'i School in Zeitoun, southeast of Gaza City, killing five civilians and injuring many others.
Israeli artillery simultaneously fired on areas east of Gaza City, including the vicinity of Al-Shujaiya junction, and close to the American company aid center north of Rafah, killing nine civilians and injuring over 40 more, according to local reports.
In Jabalia al-Balad, northern Gaza, disturbing images emerged showing rescue workers recovering bodies of civilians killed in an Israeli airstrike on Friday evening.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza's Civil Defense, said many families remain trapped under rubble in various locations, while Israeli forces continue to prevent rescue teams from accessing the affected areas.
