Two amateur photographers from county picked for exhibition
Two amateur photographers from Suffolk have been picked for an exhibition. Their work will be showcased at the 'fusion:' exhibition, which brings together one visual artist and 10 photographers to independently capture the same location. The exhibition explores the 'intersection of urban landscape art and photography', featuring 20 original collaborative works displayed together for the first time. The images, highlighting locations along the Suffolk coastline, Maldon, and surrounding areas, blend painted expression with photographic detail. The artist, Mike Parker, and the photographers, hailing from Essex and Suffolk, range from professionals to amateurs. The two Suffolk amateurs will be displaying images of Covehithe beach and Sizewell for the first time. The exhibition opening night will take place on July 10 at The Maeldune Heritage Centre, Maldon, and aims to be a 'conversation in creativity.' The event runs from July 11-29, open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 11am-4pm, with free entry. For more information, contact Mr Parker on 07846 207925 or email mikeparker.4x4@

Rain blurring the lens, wind biting my nose, borrowed Canon DSLR pointed towards a young bagpiper silhouetted against brooding storm clouds. I'm surprised to find that I am loving every second. 'Get lower,' our guide, Paul Hackett, tells me. Hackett is used to going to extreme lengths for the perfect shot. A retired photojournalist,
