'Tough but Adorable' Baby Elephant Attempts to Charge a Family in South Africa but Takes a Tumble
'Tough but Adorable' Baby Elephant Attempts to Charge a Family in South Africa but Takes a Tumble originally appeared on PetHelpful. A family of tourists visiting Kruger National Park in South Africa gave a very tough (and very adorable) baby elephant an 'A for Effort' when the little one attempted to charge, only to take a tumble instead. ABC News shared a video of the family's encounter, and it's making everybody's day. The tiny but fierce little guy runs at the vehicle the family was in, but trips over his own two (four?) feet! He quickly recovers but doesn't seem to be as interested in showing them who's boss. My heart, this was the cutest thing I've seen in a long time! He was trying to be so big and brave! ABC News' video quickly went viral and has been viewed more than 5 million times, and viewers have left thousands of comments. One viewer garnered 57,000 likes when they joked, "Nah, bro is trying the insurance fraud..." @Briana got 50 thousand likes for her comment, "He got embarrassed!!!" @ agreed, sharing what the baby elephant was probably thinking, "Let's pretend you didn't see that." We chuckled when @pacmanfrog shared, "You're so lucky I fell dude! You have NO idea dude" LOL!" And we laughed when @NikkieRogers added, "The way the momma pushed back the other baby... 'Don't even try it, Bryan.' LOL!"While mom and the other elephants didn't seem to have an issue with the tourists stopping to check them out, this little guy was not happy about was just practicing his big boy skills. explains that when elephants hold their ears out longer than a flap (which is something they do to regulate their body temperature), they are showing you how big they are and warning you of their size. It would be hard to be afraid of this cute little elephant, but not mom right behind him! There are other signs of anger as well. When annoyed, elephants rock on one foot, which may appear as if they're kicking up dust. It's normal for elephants to shake their heads a time or two, but if they continually shake their heads, it is another warning sign, as is holding their tail out stiffly. Trumpeting could also be a sign that they're getting mad about something. If you find yourself in front of an angry elephant, pay attention. Sometimes they mock charge as a warning, in which case you should remain calm and give them more space. If an elephant really charges, run! Run in a zig-zag pattern and try to find something to put in between you and the elephant…a rock, tree, or vehicle, for example. If possible, try to climb the tree or rock to get above the elephant. It sounds scary, but you can avoid these kinds of situations altogether by giving them their space and admiring them from a distance. Baby Elephant Spots Butterfly and Maximum Cuteness Ensues
Baby Elephant Spots Butterfly and Maximum Cuteness Ensues originally appeared on PetHelpful. As little ones, we explore the world with fresh, new eyes and a childish enthusiasm that makes the simplest moments the most memorable. The same can be said for our animal friends, and @noodleknowsnovels reminds us of that. They recently posted a flashback video featuring a very special memory with a baby elephant named Fitz. Filmed at the Louisville Zoo, the clip showed a time when this baby elephant spotted a butterfly, and Fitz could not contain his excitement. Fair warning: This moment ranks at maximum cuteness levels! But don't take my word for it. Go ahead and press play to see this adorable interaction. Is this not the cutest thing to grace your timeline today? Well, people can not get enough of this watching this throwback video of this elephant's reaction to seeing a butterfly, and no one could blame them. Fitz was mesmerized by the tiny creature as it fluttered about. You can actually see the awe in this baby elephant's eyes. He was fascinated by this winged wonder, so he did what most curious kids do. He followed the butterfly around, and while doing so, he expressed his feelings at seeing this little insect in action with the cutest noises. Viewer @echowonderlark wrote that it, 'reminds me exactly of a human baby experiencing bubbles [and] the little screamy laugh they do.' There are definitely similarities between the two because Fitz is saying something through his little rumbles and trumpet watcher related to this baby elephant. @sblizzard7 added, 'Fitz, I get just as excited when I see a butterfly, too.' Really, who wouldn't be a little thrilled to have a butterfly come and bring a little whimsey to your day? 'He's throwing fitz over that butterfly,' joked @digi_talis, and he most certainly did. @noodleknowsnovels said in the post caption, 'We loved seeing Fitz at [the @louisvillezoo] and miss him so much!' So many feel the same way because this little guy was a favorite among zoo visitors in the video's comments. This was such a special memory to share, and hopefully, this video brightened up many of our feeds. Fitz will truly never be forgotten. Haunted by baby elephant's death, Malaysian lorry driver shares anguish: ‘my heart aches'
The lorry driver whose vehicle struck and killed a baby elephant on a dark mountain road in Malaysia last month has spoken of the anguish and guilt he continues to carry. Advertisement 'It weighs heavily on me. Each time I pass by the road, my heart aches,' said the driver, who wished to be identified only as Azhar. Azhar was behind the wheel in the early hours of May 11, travelling along the East–West Highway in Perak when the fatal accident occurred. The male calf was pinned beneath the lorry. In a heart-wrenching scene that left many Malaysians in tears, the calf's mother repeatedly charged the lorry in a desperate attempt to free her young, then stood vigil beside the vehicle for nearly five hours. 'When I think about the baby elephant, I feel really sad. I will not forget the moment,' he said, recounting his experience that night. Advertisement A seasoned driver from Kedah, Azhar has transported chickens from Penang to a slaughterhouse in Kota Baru for the past two years, using the same forest-lined route almost daily. His days typically begin at 4.30pm, when he collects poultry from farms, before setting off on the long overnight drive by 8pm.
