Large fire at Metfield farm sees several barns alight
A "significant" fire has broken out across a number of large barns at a Fire and Rescue Service said six engines were attending the blaze at Cherry Tree Farm in Metfield, south-east of was alerted at about 01:45 BST on Friday by local residents and said the fire covered an area of approximately 150m by 40m (492ft by 131ft).The barns contained a "substantial quantity" of straw bales, as well as agricultural machinery and a workshop, it said. People have been urged to avoid the area while crews bring the fire under fire service said there was a limited water supply at the farm, so it had brought in a water carrier as well as specialist aerial appliances. Lightning causes barn fire, knocks out power to thousands
London fire crews work to knock down a barn fire caused by a lightning strike on July 7, 2025. (Source: London fire) Lightning is to blame for a barn fire in London in the early morning hours. Crews were called to 4195 Bostwick Road, in the area of Wonderland Road south and Hamlyn Street, around 1 a.m. Using a defensive attack, crews knocked the fire down and contained the damage to the footprint of the building. According to London fire, the walls of the structure were concrete, the roof was metal and did collapse in. Damage is estimated over $200,000. Meanwhile, London Hydro reports nearly 4,000 customers without power in the Bostwick, Lambeth, Sharon Creek, Talbot and Tempo areas. Estimated time of restoration is 7 a.m.

Lambton barn fire causes $500K in damage
Fire broke out around 8:37 p.m. on July 1, 2025 at 3421 Petrolia Line. (Source: Brooke Schrijver) Damage is estimated at $500,000 after a barn fire in Lambton County. Crews were called to the scene at 3421 Petrolia Line around 8:37 p.m. Tuesday where a metal shed was on fire and spread to a barn. No animals were in the barn or on the property at the time of the incident, but tractors and wagons were burned. The family that owns the property is renting it out, and the tenant was not home at there at the time of the incident — a neighbouring property owner alerted fire department. The current owners have owned property since 1983. Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department (PNEFD) Chief Rick Cousins told CTV News there was a scary moment when a firefighter showed signs of heat exhaustion. 'PNEFD support operations and response team and EMS staff that was on standby at our scene tended to our member. EMS transported the firefighter to the hospital, [they were] evaluated thoroughly, then released just hours later with a clean bill of health.' 27,000 chickens killed in Langley, B.C., barn fire

(Township of Langley Fire Department) A poultry farmer in Langley, B.C., lost a sizeable flock in a barn fire early Sunday morning, firefighters say. Crews were called to 256th Street near the U.S. border around 2 a.m., Township of Langley Deputy Fire Chief Cory Parker told CTV News. Upon arrival, the fire was growing quickly and additional units were called in. 'It was quite a stubborn fire to put out, extremely large buildings, and our crews did a really good job of stopping it from spreading,' he said, adding that two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion on scene. Langley barn fire The aftermath of the fire is seen from above. Unfortunately, two buildings were destroyed and approximately 27,000 chickens perished in the blaze. 'They're devastated by the loss,' Parker said. 'They're a long-time chicken producing family in the township and this is a devastating fire for them.' The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Parker said there's no indication it was suspicious in nature.
