Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter's and your favourite Tennis stars' post-match meal choices revealed
Image credits: Instagram/bbcsport Sports is a field that requires constant discipline and effort. Be it practice or diet, every aspect of life needs to be monitored and tailored to ensure efficient performance in games. This is even more serious for professional players whose careers depend on every match they play and their love for the sport trespasses all horizons. In a video going viral on the internet, BBC Sport asked popular tennis players what their after-match meal looked like and their answers were definitely what we expected. For sports players who monitor every calorie intake for optimum energy, strength and performance, one would think a diet would be full of healthy meals and dishes. However, the reality seems far away. What do popular tennis stars eat post-match? Image credits: Instagram/bbcsports For star Emma Raducanu, a British professional tennis player with a world ranking of 10 and a British ranking of 1, steak is "always" a post-match meal. "I've been kind of experimenting with my diet, and I've been having a lot more steak recently. It's a good diet," said the 22-year-old star player. For Katie Boulter, a 28-year-old tennis player, a post-match meal begins with a protein shake followed by a carb-loaded dish which is either pasta with Bolognese or a little bit of salad on the side. Daria Kasatkina, a Russian-born Australian professional tennis player is a fan of brunches followed by coffee- oat milk, flat white and avocado toast with halloumi cheese. "That's like a must-have," she said. Emma Navarro, an American professional tennis player, prefers deciding her meals on the basis of the result of her match. "Did I win or lose?" asked the 24-year-old sportswoman. "If I won that means I may have to play tomorrow or the next day, so I'm going to keep it simple, maybe a steak, some rice and some veggies." "If I lose, I'm probably going to eat something unhealthy, maybe a burger or some fries or maybe a beer, we'll see," she added. For Czech player Barbora Krejčíková, a post-match meal is simple with some steak with some rice. However, for Jodie Burrage, a meal after a match seems to be therapeutic in a way as she prefers having pasts that she made herself, along with chicken, chorizo and a load of veggies such as peas, asparagus and onion.
