Can YOU spot the man with the moustache? Mind-boggling optical illusion has a second hidden person in it - so, can you see him?

From the cigar nestled in the brickwork to 'The Dress', many optical illusions have left viewers around the world baffled over the years. But the latest illusion is arguably one of the most bizarre yet. Dr Dean Jackson, a biologist and BBC presenter, has shared a strange illusion on TikTok, which reveals a hidden man when rotated. At the start of the video, a person with brown hair can be seen smiling at the camera. However, as the image is rotated, you should eventually spot a second person - a man with a bushy moustache. 'At what time does the man with a moustache appear in the clock for you?' Dr Jackson asks. The video has garnered huge interest across TikTok, with over 1.4 million views at the time of writing. 'I blinked and he appeared from nowhere,' one user commented, while another joked: 'I didn't see it, I blinked and then I got jump scared by it.' MailOnline tested the optical illusion, and was able to spot the man with the moustache by the time the image was at the 6 o'clock position. Many commenters agreed that the second man appeared at this time. Taking to the comments, one user wrote: '1st time 6 o'clock, but the 2nd time it was 4 o'clock.' Another added: 'About ten seconds after 6, second time 4. I had to de focus my eyes to see it the first time.' And one said: 'Didn't know what I was looking for until I blinked after 6 o'clock, and I was like wait! Where did he come from?' Others agreed that they needed to blink or look away from the image before they were able to spot the second man. 'Looked away when you said "what man" and there he was!' one user wrote. And one joked: 'I was about to say "what man?" and then I blinked and he appeared!' This isn't the first time that Dr Jackson has baffled social media users with hidden images. In another video, Dr Jackson presents a picture of a kookaburra sitting on a log. He then reveals that there is actually a second animal hidden somewhere in the picture that only a few keen-eyed viewers can spot. Dr Jackson describes this as an 'experiment on reframing and reimagining based on a prior image.' In the video, he says: 'A kookaburra perched in a tree, I want to know how quickly you can reframe what you've just seen when we move on to another picture. 'Lots of people who haven't seen the first picture before see a very different animal here.' WHAT IS THE CAFÉ WALL OPTICAL ILLUSION? The café wall optical illusion was first described by Richard Gregory, professor of neuropsychology at the University of Bristol, in 1979. When alternating columns of dark and light tiles are placed out of line vertically, they can create the illusion that the rows of horizontal lines taper at one end. The effect depends on the presence of a visible line of gray mortar between the tiles. The illusion was first observed when a member of Professor Gregory's lab noticed an unusual visual effect created by the tiling pattern on the wall of a café at the bottom of St Michael's Hill in Bristol. The café, close to the university, was tiled with alternate rows of offset black and white tiles, with visible mortar lines in between. Diagonal lines are perceived because of the way neurons in the brain interact. Different types of neurons react to the perception of dark and light colours, and because of the placement of the dark and light tiles, different parts of the grout lines are dimmed or brightened in the retina. Where there is a brightness contrast across the grout line, a small scale asymmetry occurs whereby half the dark and light tiles move toward each other forming small wedges. These little wedges are then integrated into long wedges with the brain interpreting the grout line as a sloping line. Professor Gregory's findings surrounding the café wall illusion were first published in a 1979 edition of the journal Perception. The café wall illusion has helped neuropsychologists study the way in which visual information is processed by the brain. The illusion has also been used in graphic design and art applications, as well as architectural applications. The effect is also known as the Munsterberg illusion, as it was previously reported in 1897 by Hugo Munsterberg who referred to it as the 'shifted chequerboard figure.' It has also been called the 'illusion of kindergarten patterns', because it was often seen in the weaving of kindergarten students.

The Bachelor star Laura Byrne reveals her bizarre find in a bag of chips: 'That's so rank'

Laura Byrne has taken to social media to share a bizarre discovery in a recently-bought bag of chips. The former Bachelor star, 39, posted a video to Instagram on Sunday showing a packet of chips she had purchased - with a surprise waiting inside. 'Ok... but wtf is that?' she captioned the post, which showed a strange potato creation in a packet of Kettle chips. 'I can't tell if this is an entire potato, a hash brown, I don't know what it is. Or a lot of chips that have gotten stuck on the conveyor belt together,' she could be heard saying in a follow-up clip. Her husband Matty 'J' Johnson, 37, who she met on the hit reality show in 2017, then asked if he could try a bite of the unidentifiable nugget. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'If you want to, go nuts. Would you? You're disgusting,' the Life Uncut podcast host said as Matty took a bite out of the bizarre find. Laura then played devil's advocate, saying: 'It's probably the best bit of all the chips. You know how like when they are really crunchy?' 'That's pretty good!' her husband announced, with his eyes wide with delight, before Laura proclaimed: 'That's so rank'. Laura recently made headlines for calling out her podcast host husband after he accidentally revealed the name of their unborn baby girl on-air. In June, the reality star was doing an 'ask me anything' questionnaire on her Instagram story when one of her followers brought up the moment, which she was seemingly unaware of. 'Did you punch Matt in the ovaries for revealing [your] baby name on Two Doting Dads?' the question read. Laura was clearly caught off-guard as she replied: 'He did f***ing what?!' Later on, the business owner, 39, brought up the blunder with her husband, 37, as they lay in bed together. 'Matt I have a question for you: did you say the girl's name, the baby's name, on the podcast?' she asked him in a clip posted to her Instagram story. He looked at his partner confused as he denied the accusation. 'I think you might have,' she told him, cheekily. 'I would never, never. Never would I say that,' he said defensively as the couple both broke out into giggles. Laura told the camera: 'People always ask us, "how do you know the limits when you're telling stories and stuff on the podcast?" and normally we're pretty good... Normally.' Matty began to pipe up as he sported a giant smile on his face, clearly telling a fib. 'Whoever is spreading this false information, shame on you, because that's not true at all,' he said. While Matty may have mentioned the little girl's name, it seems it was edited out of the podcast as it could later no longer be found. The couple already share little girls Marlie and Lola, and are expecting their third in October.

Watch moment lag gets STUCK upside down in jail wall after bungling desperate escape from prison

THIS is the bizarre moment an inmate found himself waist-deep - after a bungled escape attempt. Alan Leandro da Silva, 32, can be seen awkwardly wedged in his cell wall as a firefighter drills through the concrete around his torso. 5 5 Bizarre footage shows Alan resting his upper body on a blue chair while fire officers try to free him from the cell wall at the prison in Rio Branco. His shirtless back, marked by a large demon tattoo, was strained from hanging down over the floor. It also appears to be injured, with visible grazes and bloody wounds shown in the video. Officers said they had to be extra careful not to injure his upper body during the drilling process. Alan attempted to make his escape through the rugged hole while the guards were distracted. But he appears to have underestimated the size of his escape hole - or his body - soon finding himself stuck waist-deep inside the wall. After wardens noticed 'strange movement' in the cell on Monday, they called firefighters for help. Officers carefully extracted the inmate, who was freed unharmed. A fire department spokesperson said: "According to the inmate's own account, the hole was dug for two days using a nail and a broomstick. "However, during the escape attempt, he was trapped inside the opening. "In view of the situation, Criminal Police called the Fire Department to carry out the rescue. 5 Bumbling 'arsonists' who try to set fire to a house accidentally set their getaway car ablaze as they try to escape "After thorough work, the rescue team was able to successfully release the victim, who was safely handed over to the Criminal Police team that was already on standby at the scene." The man was given first aid before being sent back to his cell. Jail officials have yet to explain how the man obtained the tools or how the large hole in the wall went unnoticed. It comes as a trio of would-be arsonists accidentally torched their own getaway car. Security footage from southern Australia shows a clumsy man dousing the front of a house with a liquid - before his escape plan goes up in flames. Meanwhile, a bungling crew member activated a jet's emergency slide by mistake - putting it out of service and delaying hundreds of passengers. The gaffe, which took place on a BA flight in January, cost the airline £100,000.

Mariah Carey leaves fans confused following ‘bizarre' interview on The Project

Mariah Carey's fans were left confused after her 'bizarre' interview on The Project last night, with some even questioning if the clip was AI-generated. The singing superstar was a guest on the Aussie show on Thursday night during which she gave presenter Georgie Tunny a series of short answers, appearing seemingly disinterested throughout the less than 5-minute interview via videolink. The 56-year-old gave Tunny single-word responses to most of her questions, all delivered in a monotonous tone. When asked by the host what she would like on her tour rider when she comes to Australia in October to headline the star-studded Fridayz Live concerts, Carey replied: 'A kangaroo.' And the Fantasy singer continued to be dismissive in her responses. When asked about how she copes with criticism, the Grammy winner nonchalantly replied: 'By not coping, is what I do.' 'I mean, just don't pay attention to it, you know? And everybody else goes through it, so... whatever.' Carey's appearance in the interview was so robotic that viewers were left calling it 'cringey' and wondering if the clip was AI. 'Sure she wasn't an Ai version of Carey? Weird smile, no eye contact. Bot for sure,' one tweeted on X, while another wrote, 'That was the most bizarre interview!!' 'I got nothing out of it and It felt very weird not like a true interview live from satellite,' another added, as one pointed out, 'No emotion. So stiff.' While other viewers thought the questions weren't hard-hitting enough and Tunny should have asked 'better questions', others sympathised with the journalist, praising her for carrying the interview when Carey was giving her 'zero energy'. 'Was that an AI version of MC? That poor lady [Tunny]. I feel sorry for you. You did your best. She hasn't been called a DIVA for no reason,' one fan wrote, with another commenting, 'Hands down to you Georgie that would of been a hard interview! Mariah gave you nothing!' This wasn't the first time Carey gave an awkward interview on The Project. During a videolink appearance on the show in 2021, the interview got off to a bumpy start when Carey got host Waleed Aly's name wrong. 'Hi, Maleed,' she greeted him. Aly glanced off-camera, but chose not to correct the singer and instead forged ahead with the interview. At interview's end, when Aly thanked Carey for her time, she obviously decided not to risk trying out his name again, simply saying, 'Thank you, dahling.' Back at the desk, the panel ribbed Aly about the awkward moment. 'Maleed … that's pretty cool, from Mariah. You'll take Maleed from Mariah,' said then-host Carrie Bickmore. In October, Carey will return to Australia for the first time in more than a decade when she takes to the stage for the Fridayz Live tour, playing in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. She will be joined by the likes of US rapper Pitbull, Battlefield singer Jordin Sparks and Let Me Blow Your Mind rapper Eve.
