Woman fatally hit by Amtrak train in Plano, Illinois, identified
A woman who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Thursday night in Plano, Illinois, has been identified. Plano police said just before 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian who was hit near the BNSF tracks in the 800 block of West Main Street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kendall County Coroner's Office identified her as 48-year-old Mitzi L. Montgomery of Plano. The office determined that she died due to blunt force trauma as a result of the crash. BNSF, Amtrak investigators, Little Rock Fox fire crews, and the Kendall County Coroner assisted police. The tracks reopened around 11:13 p.m. following an investigation. The crash remains under investigation by the Plano Police Department.

Two dogs disappear, were found after being killed according to Larimer County family
LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A family that lives in a ranching area southwest of Berthoud said a necropsy they ordered indicates their dogs were killed. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office and NOCO Humane said they are investigating how the dogs died. Possible measles exposure locations in Denver, Boulder after new confirmed case It was Mother's Day when the family returned to their home on their ranch west of Berthoud, and they noticed their dogs were missing. The family quickly began looking for the two cherished pets. For days, family, friends and neighbors searched for the dogs, Kevin Jones and his family had come to love so much. Then both dogs were found dead weeks later, on different days, at a drain at the end of a two-mile-long canal nearby. 'The process has been truly devastating, and you know and it's kind of a ridiculous situation,' Jones said. The Jones family said they had a necropsy performed at CSU, which they said determined both dogs had died of blunt force trauma. Jones said he received a tip that a pickup truck was seen picking up the dogs along a road not far from the family's home. 'We don't typically see this kind of stuff out here. The community is very close-knit. We are friends with all our neighbors,' said Jones. The Jones family called the sheriff to say the dogs had disappeared under suspicious circumstances. 'The dogs' cause of death has not yet been determined. The investigation is ongoing in partnership with NOCO Humane,' a spokesperson for the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said. Both of the dogs' bodies are with NOCO Humane, according to the family. Both had collars and ID tags on them when they were found, but no one called to say they had Finnegan and Lucy. 'It's awful, I can't even imagine how that even happens. It's disgusting,' Jones said. The two had become like members of the Jones family. They were country dogs and roamed freely on the ranch, where they were loved so much. A community is now asking what happened to Finnegan and Lucy? Their family is hoping for answers soon. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said it will continue to work to find answers in this case. Delaware County woman suspected of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The mother of a baby suspected to have died from child abuse is herself the center of a separate child sexual abuse case, according to Cherokee Nation court records. Melissa Ann Foreman, 35, of Jay, is in the middle of a criminal case filed in Cherokee Nation Criminal Court. She was charged in October 2023 with felony counts of child sexual abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She is accused of giving a controlled dangerous substance to a 13-year-old boy and sexually abusing him, according to court records. Court records show she was scheduled to enter a plea to those charges in April, but now she is due back in court on June 24, where a judge will set a trial date. In an unrelated case, Foreman is the mother of Rachel Foreman, also known as Rachel Tymprance-Jane Simpson. The child was born the day after Foreman was charged with sex crimes. She died from blunt force trauma to the head on Oct. 19, 2024, at a Tulsa hospital. Foreman's former boyfriend Jordan Payne, 31, of Grove is charged with the baby's death. He is federally charged with second-degree murder and child neglect in Indian Country. The indictment also says Payne willfully and maliciously failed to provide medical care for the child. Mother tells NSW inquest of 'happy and cheeky' son gone too soon
The mother of a 14-month-old boy found not breathing in his cot in a Wagga Wagga home has reflected on her "happy and cheeky" son as the final evidence was presented before an inquest into his death. The boy, who can only be referred to as KBS for legal reasons, was rushed to Wagga Base Hospital on January 13, 2019, but was later pronounced dead. The inquest has previously heard his injuries included broken ribs, a cigarette lighter burn on his hand and ankle, and blunt force trauma. An autopsy found the boy died from a ruptured spleen caused by blunt force trauma. The boy's mother fought back tears in the Wagga Courthouse on Monday as she remembered her baby. He was a "happy and cheeky boy who loved to dance", she told the inquest. "He loved to dance so much, we would call him our little dancer," she said. She said his birth in 2017 brought light into her life when she was going through a "very tough time". "I don't have the words to describe the impact losing [my son] had on me and my family," she said. "I didn't get much time with my son, but the time I did have was the best time of my life. "I wish I could get him back just to tell him how much I loved him and how special he was to me and my family." In a written statement, the boy's paternal great-grandfather also told of the immense loss the boy's death had on the family. He recalled meeting his great-grandson around the time of his first birthday when he was "just starting to walk". "Sadly, this was only time I met him," he said. "The next time I saw him was in his coffin being buried." He said the impact of the boy's death had been "onerous" on the family. "His death has devastated all of us," he said. It came as the inquest heard evidence from a former Mission Australia regional manager who was overseeing a Brighter Futures case involving KBS. They said a new safety assessment should have been completed in the weeks leading up to his death. The court heard evidence the boy had been in the care of his grandmother in November 2018, but by early the following month, he was back with his mother who had returned to Wagga from the coast. This was despite prior concerns that the boy's mother had previously been using ice and neglecting her children. The manager said when the boy returned to his mother's care, it should have prompted case workers to conduct a new safety assessment. However, the inquest also heard the Brighter Futures program was voluntary, and that unlike case workers with the Department of Communities and Justice, their Mission Australia counterparts did not have the power to compel families to comply. Meanwhile, a former Mission Australia case worker also told the inquest the family of KBS had begun to disengage in the weeks leading up to the boy's death. Mission Australia became involved with the family about November 2018 after a referral from the Department of Communities and Justice. Just weeks later, a new case worker had taken over. The case worker conducted a couple of cold call visits on the family in January 2019 and could "hear people inside" but the doors weren't answered. "That's when I had concerns they were avoiding me," she said. Deputy state coroner Carmel Forbes will return findings at a later date.

40-year-old motorcycle passenger dies in North Myrtle Beach crash, coroner says
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A 40-year-old North Carolina woman died early Sunday when the motorcycle she was a passenger on hit the curbing of a raised concrete median in North Myrtle Beach, the Horry County Coroner's Office said. Jessica Woodall of Laurinburg died from blunt force trauma at the scene of the crash, which occurred on the Highway 17 north off-ramp at Sea Mountain Highway, the coroner's office said. It happened shortly before 2 a.m. No additional information was immediately available. News13 has reached out to the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, which is investigating the crash.
