Officer kills dog threatening canoeists on Musquodoboit River: N.S. RCMP

(David Prisciak/CTV News) A Nova Scotia RCMP officer shot and killed a dog police say was threatening a pair of canoeists on the Musquodoboit River in Elderbank over the weekend. Police say a man and a woman in a canoe were stalked by three 'vicious dogs' near Highway 357 around 1 p.m. on Saturday. According to a news release, the dogs were trying to board the canoe. An officer arrived at the scene and determined the canoeists were in 'imminent danger of bodily harm.' The officer shot one of the dogs, killing it. The other two dogs ran off following the gunshot. Police say the dead dog did not have a collar or identification.
