Multiple people killed after tourist boat capsizes in Vietnam, state media report
At least 18 bodies have been recovered and another 12 people have been rescued after a tourist boat capsized in Vietnam's Halong Bay on Saturday, according to state media. Search and rescue efforts are underway for the more than 20 who are still missing, according to VN Express, which reported that the vessel was carrying 53 people, including 48 tourists and five crew members. The nationalities of those on board have not yet been reported. The capsize reportedly happened near the Dau Go Cave – one of the largest in the bay. Halong Bay is a popular tourist hotspot and a UNESCO world heritage site comprising of about 1,600 limestone islands and islets.

Vietnam tourist boat capsizes in Halong Bay, three dead
HANOI, July 19 (Reuters) - A tourist boat carrying 53 people, including five crew members, capsized in Vietnam's Halong Bay on Saturday, killing three people, state media reported. The accident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. local time (0700 GMT), shortly after Storm Wipha entered the South China Sea. Strong winds, heavy rainfall, and lightning were recorded in the area. Rescue teams have located 12 survivors and recovered three bodies, the People's Army Newspaper said, citing local border guards. Authorities have yet to disclose details about the tourists or their nationalities, and rescue operations are ongoing. Halong Bay, situated roughly 200 km (125 miles) northeast of Hanoi, attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually, many of whom take overnight boat tours. Storm Wipha, the third typhoon to hit the South China Sea this year, is projected to make landfall along Vietnam's northern coast early next week. Weather disruptions linked to the storm have also impacted air travel. Noi Bai Airport reported that nine arriving flights were diverted to alternate airports, while three departing flights were temporarily grounded due to adverse conditions.

Capsized canoe on Lake Huron claims life
One person has died after a canoe capsized on Lake Huron near Howdenvale, about 20 km north of Sauble Beach. Around 6 p.m. on Monday, first respodners were sent to the area where three people were canoeing when their vessel overturned. According to police, two people managed to swim safely to shore. A third person, a 32-year-old male, did not immediately resurface. Bystanders were able to recover the man from the water and attempted CPR. When first responders got there, the man was then taken to hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.
