Aaron Rodgers accuses fan of being 'autograph hound' in tense standoff at Lake Tahoe celebrity golf tournament
Aaron Rodgers was more than happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe this week. Where the new Pittsburgh Steelers ' quarterback drew the line, however, was autograph hounds – borderline professionals who hunt for celebrity signatures to hock online and at trade shows. In a video from Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano that has since gone viral on X, Rodgers is seen identifying one suspected autograph hound and refusing to play a part in the scheme. Asked to sign a ticket stub from his first NFL appearance with the Green Bay Packers in 2005, Rodgers quickly became suspicious. The item is a rare collectible and not something an everyday fan might have, so when the man claimed he attended the game, Rodgers began asking some questions. 'You're talking to somebody with a great memory,' Rodgers told the fan. Rodgers was just a 22-year-old backup to Brett Favre when he was called on to make his NFL debut in mop-up duty at the end of a 52-3 win over the visiting New Orleans Saints. He completed one pass – his first as a professional – to fullback Vonta Leach for zero yards and later ran out the clock on New Orleans. Fan fails Aaron Rodgers's memory test 😅 #accgolf #steelers — Gilberto Manzano (@GManzano24) July 10, 2025 'I remember the score,' the suspected autograph hound told Rodgers. 'It was a blowout.' Rodgers didn't hesitate to confront the man: 'You remember the score. Who'd we play?' The man quickly responded, 'Saints,' but that was hardly convincing. As Rodgers pointed out, that information could be found on the ticket stub. 'I can tell you the score, I think,' the man shot back. 'I think was 50-3. I remember you threw a pass.' Asked who the pass was thrown to, the autograph seeker admittedly didn't know: 'I was 16. 20 years ago.' That non-answer ultimately doomed his effort to get Rodgers' John Hancock. '[If you knew], then I would believe you and I would sign your thing,' Rodgers said as he continued to sign autographs for other fans. 'But since I don't believe you, I'm not going to sign it.' The unidentified man made one last desperate plea: 'I was at the game.' Rodgers didn't buy it. 'You're an autograph hound,' he said. 'Yeah, you are. You can't fool me.' Rodgers is hardly alone in eschewing autograph hounds. WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark is known for being generous with fans, but is equally famous for denying autograph hounds, albeit more subtly than Rodgers. On several occasions, the Indiana Fever guard has been seen avoiding the outstretched arms of adult autograph seekers in favor of younger fans. The 41-year-old signal caller is entering his first season with the Steelers, who are slated to start training camp on July 24. In addition to Rodgers, a newly wed who has yet to reveal his new wife to the world, Pittsburgh has also added star receiver DK Metcalf in a trade from Seattle and veteran cornerback and Super Bowl champion Darius Slay. Head coach Mike Tomlin's team is also facing the possibility of an in-season holdout from star pass rusher TJ Watt.

NFL star George Kittle reveals Travis Kelce's hilarious advice to deal with nerves in celebrity golf showdown
George Kittle has revealed Travis Kelce 's trick for dealing with nerves at next week's showdown of celebrity golfers: alcohol. The 49ers tight end will make his debut at this year's American Century Championship, which draws some of the biggest names in sports and showbiz to Tahoe. Kittle will compete against the likes of Travis and Jason Kelce, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield and Steph Curry in the three-day event. The 49ers star admitted his 'anxiety couldn't be any higher' but fellow tight end Kelce recently offered his advice for how to settle his stress levels. 'Travis told me to have a few drinks before the first tee box so I'm not too nervous,' Kittle said. 'My anxiety couldn't be any higher. I've actually been trying my best. I've been playing golf four days in a row just to get used to it a little bit. And I have my buddies chirp me the entire time. 'Hopefully I'm getting a little better, serviceable. I would just suggest I'm not a professional golfer. I swing really hard and get out of the way of the driver's box.' Kittle signed a four-year, $76.4million contract with the 49ers but he will head to Tahoe with a couple of second-hand clubs that he dug out of the bushes several years ago. 'I got my first set of clubs off like a scholarship check, $800,' he explained. 'I went to the local Play It Again Sports and bought a set of clubs. That's what I played with until literally four years ago. 'One of my buddies, he's like a shorter D lineman, a lot of power. He is an average 320‑plus drive almost every single time. He's like an 82 to 85 golfer. 'He hit like three drives in a row into the forest. He threw his club into the forest. I was, like, "Can I go get that?" It was a Nike Sasquatch driver. I still have it in my bag today, I still use it every single day that I golf. 'About two holes later he threw his 54 (degree wedge) into the woods as well. I went and got that one as well. I added his 54 and his driver in my bag. I still use them both.' Kittle and Kelce recently came together in Nashville to lead the latest instalment of Tight End University. Nearly 80 players took part in the event, which saw Taylor Swift perform a surprise concert. On Tuesday Kittle spoke alongside Buccaneers star Mayfield, who was asked whether a 'Quarterback University' is on the horizon. 'No, I don't envision the quarterbacks getting together,' he said. 'Quarterbacks are weird, man. They don't want to give their secrets away, whatever they've got in there.' He added: 'Tight ends are a special breed. They're all ball, like to work hard, play hard. That's what makes it so much fun to watch.'

Ex-NFL star Joe Theismann readies for American Century, admits he's Miles Teller 'fanboy'
Former NFL star Joe Theismann will enter the 2025 American Century Championship as one of the veterans in the celebrity golf tournament. Though the former Washington Redskins quarterback has only won the Korbel Hole-In-One Contest at Edgewood Tahe Golf Club, he told Fox News Digital he is as excited as ever to be a part of the tournament once again this year. "I've played in 35 of 36 (tournaments)," he said. "I certainly circle those days. The American Century Championship has been unbelievable as far as competition goes, the people you get a chance to be around." Theismann highlighted the charitable component of the American Century Championship as well. Millions of dollars are raised during the festivities to benefit the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. "American Century puts on a great week for their customers and for all of us. They have karaoke nights, and they have great dinners where you get a chance to interact and see people you haven't really seen," Theismann said. "My wife and I really look forward to it. You learn so much." He said he got to talk to Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen about his 2023 season last year and delighted in speaking with actor Miles Teller. "'Top Gun: Maverick' is one of my favorite movies in the world. So, I had a chance to see him last year. I was like a little kid," he said with a laugh. "He was on the range hitting balls. I didn't want to bother him, but I wanted to say hello." Theismann was not embarrassed to admit he was a bit of a "fanboy" when it came to Teller. "I'm not embarrassed," he told Fox News Digital. "There are certain people that I've met. I've been blessed to meet people, whether they're heads of state, heads of countries, many presidents, CEOs, some of the most incredible people in the world I've had a chance to meet and just to be able to continue to watch people and see them and really get to know what they're like, what makes them tick. That's what I enjoy – getting to know the person." Theismann was tied with Joe Flacco and Jason Scheff last year and tied for 46th with A.J. Hawk and Seth Curry in 2023. This year, he is hoping for some improvement, though he admitted his game is getting shorter and shorter as the years go on. Theismann said fans can also get in on the action with a fantasy game that was developed for the tournament. He said fans can begin to register next week with the winner getting two tickets to next year's tournament and a $10,000 check to the charity of their choice. The event is a 54-hole Stableford format in which golfers earn points for each hole based on the score to par. The golfer who achieves the most points wins. The tournament kicks off July 9 and runs through July 13. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

WWE star The Miz vows to beat NBA great Charles Barkley at this year's American Century
WWE star The Miz will be among golfers in the field for the 36th installment of the prestigious American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament. Golfers will begin practice at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe on the border of California and Nevada July 9-13. The Miz, whose real name is Mike Mizanin, told Fox News Digital in a recent interview he's looking to bounce back at this year's event after finishing toward the bottom of the field last year. "I'm so dedicated to doing well in the ACC that I started my own golf YouTube channel called 'Miz Golf' and, literally, I am training with the best of the best — George Gankas, James Leadbetter. Like, you name it, I am training for it. I feel very good. I feel like my swing is better than it's ever been," he said. "My understanding of the game has gotten way better. … I know what to do. It's just more applying those rules and getting reps and reps and reps. "So, I feel very confident, very good. I'm gonna go out there, I'm going to beat Charles Barkley this year, and I am not going to be in the tail end like I usually am on Sunday. I feel like I'm going to be at least in the middle of the pack." The ACC field is packed with famous athletes and actors, from Stephen Curry and Tony Romo to Colin Jost and Ray Romano. Any average Joe could easily be starstruck playing with and against those they see on the basketball court. For The Miz, most of the pressure he feels comes from the crowd and TV cameras. "I feel the pressure from the audience," he said, explaining that when he goes to golf on the weekends at a regular course there's usually nobody watching him. "Here (at Edgewood), there's thousands of people. So, you get an adrenaline rush when they announce your name like your Tiger Woods. "And you get up there, and you can't even feel your club in your hands because your adrenaline is going, your nerves are going so much. And you just pray to God that literally your swing hits the ball, and it goes straight." Charles Barkley is usually one of the former athletes who participates in the field. He finished 58th last year between Gary Sheffield and celebrity chef Bobby Flay. The Miz recalled the first time he played at the ACC and was paired with Barkley. "Everyone told me, 'Hey, at least you'll beat Charles, right? At least you'll beat Charles, right?'" The Miz recalled to Fox News Digital. "Charles doesn't golf like you see on YouTube. That was a long time ago. He has gotten training. His swing is incredible. I watched Charles Barkley hit the ball and I went, 'Oh, no. He's gonna beat me, and everyone's gonna make fun of me because everyone knows Charles for that hitch he has. But he doesn't have that hitch anymore. He actually plays very, very well. "So, I mean, just walking up and down the course, getting intimidated by Charles Barkley, who everyone said I was going to beat, is a moment in my mind." Overall, The Miz said Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course ranks in his top five of golf courses he's played, and he looks forward to the tournament. The tournament will also raise money for local and national charities. The event is a 54-hole Stableford format in which golfers earn points for each hole based on the score to par. The golfer who achieves the most points wins. Former tennis star Mardy Fish won the tournament last year. Stephen Curry was the winner in 2023. The Golden State Warriors star will be back in the field in July. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Paige Spiranac names A-list celebrity as the 'slowest golfer' she's ever played with
Paige Spiranac has name-dropped A-list actor Chris Pratt as the 'slowest golfer' the social-media influencer has ever played with. Spiranac has rubbed elbows with some huge names over the years including Justin Timberlake, Gary Player, and Mark Wahlberg. The golfer also has a constant presence at big golf events, including at last week's PGA Championship in North Carolina. Pratt is most famous for playing Star-Lord in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' film series, as well as roles in 'Parks & Recreation' and in the 'Jurassic World' franchise. 'At Genesis, they did a celebrity Ryder Cup. My partner was Nick Jonas and we played against … Chris Pratt. He was very slow," Spiranac said on 'Vanity Index'. 'Might be the slowest golfer I've ever played with. Super nice guy, unbelievably slow.' 'We were like four holes behind on a nine-hole little thing. And they were like, "You need to speed it up." He had all these people around him, and he'd tell like these amazing stories. And we were like, "Hit the golf ball."' Last year, Pratt played in a pro-am event alongside Peyton Manning and Rory McIlroy. It is unclear what speed he played at then, or if it was a slow pace, whether it bothered the current Masters champion and one of the best quarterbacks of all-time. Pratt is currently under a microscope as the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in production, in a massive team-up movie called 'Avengers: Doomsday', with his involvement not confirmed, but speculated. Spiranac is one of golf's leading influencers, with more than 4million followers on Instagram alone. Spiranac also recently revealed her childhood friendship with Wyndham Clark on the latest season of Netflix 's 'Full Swing'. She interviewed Clark during the series and spoke on their time growing up, chasing their golf dreams, with both now famous faces on the links. 'So I remember Wyndham when he was this tall,' Spiranac said, referencing a child's height. 'Full of braces. Most people don't know this, we're both from Colorado. We grew up playing junior golf together, and now we're here.' 'He was always going to be one of the best. Now he has to deal with all the pressure of people looking at him and having to compete week in, week out and being one of the top guys.'
