John Swinney pays tribute to Scottish woman who lost battle with anorexia aged 20
First Minister John Swinney has paid tribute to a young Scottish constituent who sadly lost her battle with anorexia earlier this year. The first minister attended a charity park run, which was organised by the family of Rachel Bywater from Aberfeldy, to raise funds for BEAT, the UK's leading charity supporting those affected by eating disorders, reports The Record. Swinney joined the family of Rachel, who sadly died on May 17 this year aged just 20 years old, at the event which has raised an amazing £7,500 for the charity. "Wonderful to see so many in the #Aberfeldy community supporting today." Her father Dave Bywater added: "Thank you John, it was great to have your support and that of the community. 'I hope everyone who reads these posts can realise there is a family behind this who are suffering a tragic loss, and ignore the offensive responses you have received." Ahead of the event her family wrote: "We will be installing a new bench on the River Bank for Rachel Bywater, who very sadly passed away on May 17th this year. "To mark the occasion a fund raiser will be held on the Sunday to raise funds for BEAT (Eating Disorders). All you have to do is walk, jog or run 1, 2 or 3 laps of the FeldyRoo Fitness Trail. "The choice is yours, all we want is everyone to get involved. You can fill in an entry form and pick up sponsorship form at any of the pubs - Fountain, Black Wach or Schiehallion. "Entry is totally free but raised sponsorship or donations on the day would be really appreciated no matter how little or large."

MCKL's Charity Run Raises RM7,000 for Children with Special Needs

School presents £2,000 cheque to charity after Hadrian's Wall run
A school in Brampton has presented a cheque for over £2,000 to the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). William Howard School's Mountain Runners presented a cheque for £2173.75 to a representative of GNAAS on Tuesday, July 15. The school's Mountain Runners raised the funds by completeing a 30-mile charity run along Hadrian's Wall, from Chesters Fort near Chollerford to Brampton, on Saturday, July 5. She said: "Running with our students 30 miles along Hadrian's Wall was nothing short of inspirational. "Their determination and resilience captured everything that makes our school community special. "They pushed themselves beyond their limits, not just for the achievement, but to raise over £2,100 for the Great North Air Ambulance. "We couldn't be prouder of what they've achieved."

CBIZ Workplace Challenge set for Jones Beach on Aug. 5, 2025
The CBIZ Workplace Challenge - formerly known as the Marcum Workplace Challenge - is returning to Jones Bearch on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The 3.5 run-walk for charity is a annual summer gathering for Long Island businesses for a good cause. The challenge has raised more than $1.4 million for the charity beneficiaries, including the Long Island Children's Museum, the Chidren's Medical Fund of New York, Long Island Cares - The Harry Chapin Food Bank and the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Teams are welcomed from companies, organizations and government agencies. Friends and family are encouraged to participate. Keep in mind, though, there's no day-of registration - registration needs to be completed in advance. The last day to register is Aug. 4. UAE: Zayed Charity Run to include robots in new China leg, see historic expansion
Three new global destinations will be added to Zayed Charity Run during its 2025–2026 season which kicks off this September, organisers announced on Monday. The race will see a historic expansion this year to three continents by adding China, Hungary and Brazil to its list of destinations that includes the UAE, Egypt and the US, reflecting its growing humanitarian and sporting influence across the world. Zayed Charity Run is an annual racing event that supports patients with chronic illnesses, funds children's hospitals and research, and promotes health awareness and active lifestyles. Race track This year's season will begin on September 21 in Beijing, featuring a 5km robot race for the first time, in addition to 10km and 5km races for humans, with total prize money of $30,000. The second stop will be in Rio de Janeiro on October 5, with prize money of $20,000, then the run will return to the UAE Capital Abu Dhabi on November 29, coinciding with the nation's National Day and offering Dh1.5 million in prizes. After Abu Dhabi, the event will move to Cairo for the fourth leg on December 26, with Egp20 million in prizes. The fifth race will take place in Miami on January 31, 2026, with $20,000 in prizes and the season will conclude in Budapest in May 2026, with the same amount of prize money. About Zayed Charity Run First launched in Abu Dhabi in 2001, the Zayed Charity Run expanded globally in 2005 with its first overseas edition in New York City and later in Cairo in 2014. Inspired by the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, it aims to promote giving, generosity, and social solidarity globally. During a press conference to announce the expansion, Lt. General (Ret.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, stated that future editions of Zayed Charity Run will continue to grow.
