J-Hope's New Single Kept From A No. 1 Debut By A Popular Rock Band
J-Hope's 'Killin' It Girl' debuts at No. 2 on the U.K.'s Official Physical Singles chart as Biffy ... More Clyro's "A Little Love" rules — but the BTS star commands several other lists. THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON — Episode 2105 — Pictured: Musical guest j-hope ft. Miguel performs on Monday, March 10, 2025 — (Photo by: Todd Owyoung/NBC via Getty Images) Like his BTS bandmate, J-Hope is known not just for his work ethic, talent as a performer, and rapping skills, but also for being able to sell music in the streaming era. The South Korean superstar has scored multiple smashes on some of the United Kingdom's songs rankings that are focused on pure purchases, as fans of the singer and rapper love to show how much they care by buying his music, not just pressing play on streaming sites. His latest single, 'Killin' It Girl,' almost doubles J-Hope's number of champions on one tally in the country…but it misses out by a single spot. 'Killin' It Girl' Debuts at No. 2 'Killin' It Girl,' a collaboration with rapper GloRilla, debuts on the Official Physical Singles chart at No. 2 this week. The BTS powerhouse is beaten to the summit by 'A Little Love,' the latest release from Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro. J-Hope Adds Another Major Hit to His Growing Tally J-Hope has only sent a pair of tracks to the Official Physical Singles ranking throughout his career. He appeared on the tally for the first time just a few months ago, when 'Sweet Dreams' — a collaboration with R&B superstar Miguel — reached No. 1 and spent 12 weeks as a bestseller. 'Killin' It Girl' Rules Two U.K. Charts 'Killin' It Girl' debuts on four charts in the U.K., and it rules half of them. While the track misses the No. 1 space on the Official Physical Singles ranking, it does command both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads tallies. The win earns the South Korean musician his fourth leader and milestone tenth tune on the two rosters. A Top 40 Debut Marks a Career Best for Both Artists It's a big week for J-Hope in the U.K., as he also rises to a never-before-seen high point on the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most consumed songs throughout the nation. 'Killin' It Girl' opens at No. 30, bringing both he and GloRilla to new peaks and earning the two artists a debut top 40 smash across the Atlantic.

ABBA Charts A New Hit Album As Several Huge Singles Debut
ABBA charts three albums and four singles on multiple U.K. rankings, with ABBA – The Singles ... More debuting on several tallies thanks to a special re-release. COPENHAGEN, DENMARK: Pop group Abba pose for a group shot, (L-R) Benny Andersson, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Agnetha Fältskog (Agnetha Faltskog) (front) and Björn Ulvaeus (Bjorn Ulvaeus), in May 1975 in Copenhagen, Denmark. (Photo by Jorgen Angel/Redferns) In the United Kingdom, it's not unusual for more than one project dedicated to ABBA's biggest singles to find space on the albums chart. While it's common for artists with older hits to keep a compilation on weekly rankings, earning several such titles charting at once is rare. Typically, one such collection of smash singles is enough, as the public continues to head to platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to hear the tunes it loves from a musical act. ABBA stands out in this regard. It's not uncommon for the Swedish pop band to secure multiple placements at once with decades-old albums and newer compilations, and this week, the musicians do it again as they score another charting win. ABBA – The Singles Debuts on Multiple Charts ABBA – The Singles debuts on two tallies in the U.K. The compilation opens at No. 48 on the Official Physical Albums chart and No. 59 on the Official Albums Sales roster. The group has now landed 22 placements on the ranking that looks only at physical products like CDs, cassettes, and vinyl, and 18 appearances on the general list of the top-selling titles in the country, including this latest arrival. ABBA's Gold Rises Again Gold: Greatest Hits — another one of ABBA's hugely successful compilations — joins ABBA – The Singles on the Official Albums Sales chart, while also finding space on several other tallies. Gold, one of the longest-running and longest-charting titles in U.K. history, rises to No. 13 on the Official Albums list. At the same time, it appears on both the Official Albums Streaming and Official Album Downloads rosters. ABBA's Trio of Charting Albums ABBA scores a third successful title as its 1975 third full-length, a self-titled affair, reenters a trio of tallies. ABBA breaks back onto the Official Vinyl Albums, Official Physical Albums, and Official Albums Sales charts at Nos. 22, 45, and 51, respectively, following a special vinyl re-release. ABBA's Multiple Hit Songs The Swedish superstars land a trio of popular albums in the U.K. at the moment, but even more hit songs. Four of the group's beloved singles, all from the band's self-titled album, debut across a variety of charts after being re-released on vinyl alongside the full-length itself. 'Mamma Mia,' 'So Long,' 'SOS,' and 'I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do' all appear on a trio of tallies and even manage to start inside the top 10 on most of them.

As we approach the halfway mark of 2025, among the things we have yet to find out are how many weeks Morgan Wallen's 'I'm the Problem' will spend at No. 1, when Lana Del Rey's supposed country album might actually drop and whether Taylor Swift was setting us up by suggesting she's unsure about completing 'Reputation (Taylor's Version).' ARIA makes changes to singles and albums chart in bid to platform Australian music
Zero Australian artists have made the top 50 singles chart this week, while just five locals feature in the equivalent albums chart. However, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has announced sweeping changes to their charts in order to give Aussies a better chance at reaching the pointy end. From September, the ARIA Top 50 Singles and Albums charts, as well as the Top 20 Australian Artist Singles and Albums charts, will focus exclusively on music released within the past two years. Under the revisions, perennial hits such as The Killers' unkillable Mr. Brightside, which has spent 157 weeks in the top 50, and Vance Joy's Hottest 100-topping Riptide, a whopping 360 weeks in the Australian top 20, will make room for newer music and move to a new chart called ARIA On Replay. Formerly known as the Catalogue chart, On Replay will also showcase titles that have historically taken up near-permanent residence in the main charts. That includes multiple older Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran records, country stars Luke Combs and Zach Bryan, and classic Fleetwood Mac album Rumours, which has spent 403 weeks in the Top 50 Albums. Greatest hits compilations will also transition away from the main charts: everyone from Eminem (402 weeks) and Elton John (336 weeks) to Maroon 5 (321 weeks), Katy Perry (289 weeks) and The Weeknd (228 weeks). The two-year cut-off is being implemented to "make the charts more dynamic", ARIA chief executive Annabelle Herd told ABC Radio Melbourne. She says the current chart calculations "[don't] really reflect what people are listening to in terms of new music… [these changes] will clear up a lot of space not just for new Australian music but new music generally". The move comes after 12 months of "modelling and consideration" in consultation with the local industry in a bid to remove barriers for Australian music, which has struggled to compete against legacy releases and big-name overseas names popular on streaming platforms. It is the biggest change to the charts since ARIA began counting streaming figures towards singles (in 2014) and albums (in 2017), measuring them in combination with downloads and sales of physical formats including vinyl and CDs. The two-year cut-off rule, which is similar to those in place for France and New Zealand, hopes to renew interest in homegrown talent and address a plummeting local presence on the ARIA charts in recent years. The changes seek to improve "discoverability" of Australian music, which is being overshadowed in a crowded global marketplace. "Our aim is to support the discovery and celebration of great Australian music at every stage of its life," Herd added in a statement. Only six Australians appeared across ARIA's 2024 end-of-year singles and album charts: Vance Joy, The Kid LAROI, DJ and producers Dom Dolla and Cyril, and compilations from Cold Chisel and INXS. So far this year, there has not been a single Australian to reach the number one spot on the singles chart, while homegrown acts topping the albums chart is a rarity. The debut solo album from Calum Hood of pop rockers 5 Seconds of Summer is currently at number one. The only other Australian albums to reach the top spot so far in 2025 are Jimmy Barnes's latest solo effort Defiant, Brisbane mainstays Ball Park Music's Like Love, and hip hop trio Bliss N Eso's The Moon (The Light Side). Meanwhile, Western Sydney drill crew Onefour are sitting at number two with their debut album Look At Me Now. They follow Spacey Jane stalling at number two after their third album, If That Makes Sense, was kept from pole position by enigmatic UK metal act Sleep Token. The chart success of classics has often come at the expense of new music cutting through, but ARIA is introducing an exemption to recognise older songs that experience a Zeitgeist cultural moment. This week, Black Eyed Peas re-entered the Top 50 Singles chart with Rock That Body, 15 years after its initial release, thanks to the track going viral on TikTok. It follows in the footsteps of Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill getting a Stranger Things revival and Fleetwood Mac's Dreams getting signal-boosted by a skateboarding cranberry-juice-drinker. A special provision will allow other decades-old songs enjoying similar contemporary appeal to re-enter ARIA's Singles and Albums chart, as long as they meet a few criteria. Namely, titles can not have appeared in the top 100 for at least 10 years, and eligible music will only be considered upon request from record labels, demonstrating "sufficient activity" for placement in the top 30 or higher. Additionally, eligible titles will only remain in the Singles and Albums charts for up to 10 weeks. Lastly, the changes take effect after the 2025 ARIA Awards eligibility period, so this year's nominees will not be affected.

Cardi B Is 'Outside' This Summer While Offset Is Letting The 'Bodies' Hit The Floor
Cardi B and Offset are going head-to-head for the charts as they both dropped new singles on Friday (June 20), within hours of each other. The estranged married couple — who've spent the past year making headlines over their pending split — delivered what felt like musical rebuttals from both sides of the divorce. Cardi came out swinging with 'Outside,' a long-teased release that lands as both a summer anthem and a bold declaration that she's moved on. It marks her first solo track of the year, delivered with her signature sound, razor-sharp bars, and lines that sound like clear shots at her ex. Over a bass-heavy beat, she reclaims her singleness with bars about being 'cuffed up too long,' and even calls out a 'good-for-nothing, low-down dirty dog' — a jab many believe is aimed at Offset. She also throws a petty jab hinting at her once rumored-romance with NFL star Stefon Diggs, who she now officially dates. She raps: 'Favorite player from your favorite team, he in my DM.' Offset, not one to let a moment pass quietly, released his own track 'Bodies' featuring JID just hours later. The song, which samples rock group Drowning Pool's 'Bodies' is equally braggadocious as it showcases a lyrical version of Offset that fans haven't heard in years. He raps: 'I'm uppin' my rank 'cause I got ni**as spanked, ni**a, shh, death or dishonor/ I think these ni**as forgot where I came from, 'cause I got mansion and mansions with lake fronts.' Social media lit up with hot takes and their side picked. One user wrote on X, 'Divorce really got Offset back in his bag. Cardi might've been the final boss he had to beat.' Others applauded Cardi, calling 'Outside' a career-reset that re-solidifies her place in the rap game post-breakup. The pair, who filed for divorce again in August, have had a history of public breakups and reconciliations. But this time, things are seemingly final. Cardi has moved on to Diggs, as Set has been spotted with a few women here and there. Speaking to Cardi's new relationship, Offset responded to a comment about the couple online that read, 'Offset punching the air,' with 'I'm happy for her !!' Whether the singles were planned or coincidental, the dual release has fans tuned in. Take a listen to both tracks above.
