These are the best cities to live in the U.S.
Researchers have revealed the best cities to live in the United States, with Honolulu taking the top spot. The Economist Intelligence Unit just released its Global Liveability Index for 2025. The report looked at 173 cities across the world and evaluated them using five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. The U.S. did not make it into the top 20 cities in the report, but Honolulu did rank number 23, making it the best city to live in the U.S. for the second year in a row, according to Forbes, which reviewed the report. Atlanta ranked second best among U.S. cities, 29 overall, followed by Pittsburgh, which placed 30 overall. Seattle took fourth place for best city in America, 34 overall, and Washington, D.C., placed fifth in the U.S., 38 overall. The biggest cities in the country, New York and Los Angeles, ranked 69 overall and 57 overall, respectively. Out of the 21 U.S. cities evaluated in the report, 14 have moved up in the overall annual ranking, 'but mostly because other cities fell,' according to the authors of the report. Forbes reported American cities performed well in education but struggled with social unrest and gun violence. 'Weak gun-control laws mean that crime is often violent and fatal and undermines social cohesion,' the authors of the report wrote. The authors predicted U.S. cities would rank worse on the global list in the future with President Donald Trump 's proposed policies. 'With the Trump administration in the U.S. proposing to cut public spending on education and healthcare, the region remains susceptible to further downgrades in future editions of this report,' the authors wrote. At the top of the overall world list was Copenhagen. The Danish city scored perfectly in stability, education and infrastructure, replacing Vienna as the best city in the world to live. Vienna in Austria, and Zurich in Switzerland were tied for second place. Three Australian cities made it into the top 10 -- with Melbourne ranking behind Zurich and Switzerland, followed by Sydney in sixth place and Adelaide coming in ninth. Damascus, Syria, placed last in the overall list. 'Despite last year's regime change, Syria's capital city continues to be scarred by years of civil war and has seen no improvement in liveability,' the report's authors wrote.

World's best cities revealed and SEVEN in the UK make the list
A NEW study has named seven UK cities as being among the best in the world. Oxford Economics has looked at lots of factors when evaluating what makes a city great for its Global Cities Index 2025, and many in the UK tick those boxes - including Cambridge and Leeds. 5 5 To evaluate cities around the world, Oxford Economics assessed factors like economics, human capital, governance, quality of life and environment. The top UK city in the study was London which came in second place out of 100 cities, losing out to New York. The publication said that London "may fit the definition of 'Global City' more than anywhere else in the world." It called London the world's leading city for human capital due to its number of leading universities and diverse workforce. The high ranking of London isn't a surprise, but there are lots of other UK cities which also made the cut which weren't so expected. The capital of Scotland made an appearance on the list at number 57. Edinburgh received an overall score of 75.4 - it's highest rating was for environment which was 93.9 out of a possible 100. The next UK city is Bristol which came in at number 68. The city in the South West of England that's built around the River Avon and is the birthplace of street artist, Banksy, received its highest score for governance. One Sun Writer took a visit to Bristol where they discovered 'top-notch' cuisine and wandered around historic pubs. Historic UK city undergoing huge multi-million revamp Leeds came in 83rd place, between Italy 's Milan at 82, and The Hague in the Netherlands, at 84. The city in Yorkshire is known for its shopping, food and drink scene as and sporting history. Also on the list was the southern city of Cambridge where tourists enjoy punting and tours around the famous colleges. Cambridge was the 86th city on the list, receiving an overall score of 72.1 with a score of 80.4 out of 100 for quality of life for the locals. And the final UK city on the top 100 list was Manchester which came in at number 93 above the likes of Tampa and Dusseldorf.
