Salalah: The Ministry of Social Development, in Dhofar Governorate, organised on Wednesday a community event titled 'A Nation Free from Drugs" to raise awareness about the dangers of narcotics and psychotropic substances. The initiative aimed to educate the public on the threat of drug abuse, its societal risks, and the importance of collective prevention while fostering health, social and cultural awareness. The event featured a panel discussion titled 'A Nation Free from Drugs," where experts addressed the societal impacts of addiction and strategies for prevention and treatment.

ALLIANCE FIRE – Alliance Fire Department plans a promotional examination for assistant chief at 9 a.m. Aug. 21 atAlliance Area Senior Center, 602 W. Vine St. in Alliance. Arlington Porchfest to feature more than 300 performances across town in Massachusetts
Musicians are preparing for this weekend's Porchfest in Arlington, Massachusetts, an event that's taken months of planning to get right. "We take care of all the logistics of it and we help promote it so that on June 21 this year, we'll have more than 300 performances from literally one end of town to the other," said Tom Formicola, the executive director of the Arlington Center for the Arts. "It is a really joyful day." More than 300 performances this year Between March and May, residents, business owners and nonprofits register to become Porchfest hosts. "I think of the hosts as sort of the true organizers," said co-founder Bruce Hoppe. "We are sort of the promoters and the facilitators who let them have 150 parties." Carol Band has been a host and performer since the event began eight years ago. "You get to meet all kinds of people in here, all kinds of music and when you're hosting, it's like they're guests for just a few hours in your home and it's wonderful," said Band, who called it the highlight of the year in the city. "I'd call it a town-wide block party. Spirits are high, the music is everywhere, drifting out." "What's really exciting as a musician is to see audience response to what you do and then echo it," said performer Conrad Warre. "And I find myself focusing on the audience and looking at something and going, 'They're really interested in this. We should do more of that.' It's a great event. Very family-friendly and it's nice to play to kids for a change." The best part? "Free in every possible way." "It's free in every possible way," said Formicola. "The bands don't pay any fees, the porches don't pay any fees, the audiences don't pay any fees." The Arlington Center for the Arts has a website detailing all of the porches and bands, so your day can be mapped out. It all starts at noon on Saturday, with a rain date Sunday. Previous Porchfests were already held this year in Somerville, Dorchester and Medford.

Bridlington leisure centre to hold open day
An East Yorkshire leisure centre is holding an open day on Riding Leisure is hosting the event from 12:00 until 15:00 BST at its Bridlington will be offered free swimming, soft play, and instructor-led and virtual Nick Coultish said the event will be a "great opportunity" to see what the centre has to offer. Ottawa's PorchFest back in Osgoode as performers turn their porches into stages
Neighbourhood music enthusiasts performing right from their front porch, driveways and yards for a free concert. (Camille Wilson/ CTV News Ottawa) Neighbourhood music enthusiasts are performing right from their front porch, driveways and yards for a free concert. The Osgoode PorchFest is taking place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., featuring more than 60 local artists, musicians and dance performers. The weekend will be filled with live music, a block party, food, beer garden and fun. The annual community event allows for all to groove and connect while enjoying a family-friendly experience. There's something to enjoy for everyone with various music genres, from folk to jazz, rock to classical and many more. PorchFest allows musicians of all genres to showcase their talent in a laid-back environment. The musical festival is free with local talents donating their time and skills but are welcoming tips. The event runs until Sunday at 3 p.m. with a car show and artisan market.
