Two individuals are facing drug trafficking charges after a late-night traffic stop led to the seizure of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.
The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service conducted the stop shortly after 1:30 a.m. on May 25. Officers arrested the vehicle's two occupants – a 42-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man – recovering the suspected drugs along with weapons and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Authorities said the estimated street value of the drugs was $11,000.
Both suspects were charged with two counts of drug trafficking. The woman faces additional charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and obstructing a peace officer.
They are scheduled to appear in court on July 29.
In a social media post, police emphasized the role of community vigilance in combating crime.
