I won thousands on The Chase – the casting process took THREE years and producers coached us on how to act
A CONTESTANT on The Chase has revealed that it took him three whole years to complete the casting process for the quiz show. Steven Sneade, 69, from Liverpool, was one of the contestants on the programme but getting to the TV studios was a lengthy and complicated process. 4 4 He took part in the show in 2017 and faced-off against Chaser Paul Sinha back in 2017 and ended up walking away with £5,700. As The Chase reaches its 16th year on air this month, Steven spoke to OLBG about his time on the programme. In the interview, Steven said: 'It was three years from doing the online application to the show actually being broadcast. It was the very first programme I applied for. "I applied online and heard back about a telephone interview very quickly, it was only a couple of weeks. It was very speedy. "In the telephone interview they asked questions about my likes and dislikes, what I would do with my money, and various personal details. They asked if I watched the show. "Then I had to answer 20 general knowledge questions, but they couldn't tell you how many you got right. At the end of the call they invited me to the in person audition." Steven then went on to reveal how he had to face-off against 10 others in mock rounds of the show before undertaking a solo screen test. He continued: 'There were a lot of people at the in-person interview, so we were broken up into groups of 10. "We played a few little games to try and relax people, then we played a mock up of The Chase which went well. "We also had to do a minute piece to camera, just introducing ourselves and saying a few bits - we had to make ourselves stand out. And there was another general knowledge test, where we had to answer another 20 questions." The Chase fans left screaming as player gets 'ridiculously easy' question wrong - but would you know the answer- Steven went on to confirm that only two of the ten people in his group made it though to the next stage but it took a further TWO years for them to contact about moving forward with his application. Steven said: 'After about two years I got a call and the production person they were thinking about casting me, but they asked if I had been on any other shows. "I had been on Tipping Point, so they said they would be back in touch next year. "They don't want people being on those two programmes so close together - apparently they get a lot of backlash for having the same people on different shows.' After a further year had passed, Steven eventually managed to make it onto the show but admitted that show bosses gave the contestants tips on how to come across. He revealed they were shown examples of good and bad contestants on-screen with producers encouraging then to be lively and outlandish during filming. 4 4 Steven said: 'They showed you a video of someone who wasn't a very good contestant, and then they showed you one of someone who was very lively - and they said they would rather we were lively. "They gave us tips and tricks - like telling us they can edit bits out if we said something we shouldn't have." Steven's time on the show proved lucky as he was able to walk away with one third of the £17,000 prize he won with two of his teammates. He also received his winnings just a week after filming despite being warned that it could take up to three months. Steven confirmed: 'If you win you have to sign another contract as you're accepting money from them. "They told us not to give money to the contestants who didn't win money just because you feel sorry for them. They can't stop you, but I think they just don't want you to have that in mind. "They said [the money] could take three months, but I had it in a week.' The query went as follows: "Edna's birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen's birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir's birthday must be the 'X' of January." It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir's birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence. The Chase - The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: "Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?" The options were - sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots - with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes.

Contestant John, 72, appeared on Monday's episode of popular Nine game show Tipping Point, where he had reached the endgame of the show- Jackpot Temptation. He had already banked $4,200 and had his eyes firmly set on the $20,000 jackpot prize. If that wasn't enough temptation, host Todd Woodbridge upped the ante, much to the contestant's surprise. 'What would you say if I gave you one counter and increased the jackpot to $40,000?' Todd asked. John's move was praised by his wife Helen who shouted from the audience: 'No, it's too much of a risk.' Todd then intervened with: 'Helen what would do it for you?' before tempting John again. 'I'm going to give you a final offer. I will give you three counters for $20,000,' Todd said as excitement in the studio rose. It seemed that Lady Luck was smiling on John on Monday as he ended up nabbing the $20,000 jackpot with his first of three counters. The crowd erupted in cheers over John's big win and Helen rushed the stage to celebrate with her husband. It comes after Channel Nine recently hit back at claims that the popular game show was 'rigged'. Fans took to social media in April to slam the show after they they noticed a counter mysteriously move across the board. The footage was taken from a recent episode in which a counter was dropped down the shelf and landed on the board, directly in line to move several discs off the shelf - setting the contestant up for a large payout. However, the disc then appeared to move several inches by itself to the right of the floor, where it was not in a position to knock over any discs, increasing the chances of the contestant losing. The contestant in question, Graham, did not win any money during the episode and was the second player eliminated on the night. 'Tipping Point is not rigged, they say. Watch this... Using magnets, what the hell,' the viewer sniped over the footage. However, in a statement to Daily Mail Australia, a Channel Nine spokesperson denied any suggestions the show was rigged. 'Nine refutes the claim that the game is rigged and that magnets were used to manipulate the counter,' the network told Daily Mail Australia. 'There are absolutely no magnets involved.' Fans were divided over the clip and took to the comment section to share their thoughts. However, some said the footage did not prove the show was rigged and said there might be a more simple solution. 'It's the push force on the disc,' one person suggested. 'They're actually wooden discs. Not metal like they sound like,' another wrote. They added there was a logical explanation for the counter appearing to move by itself in the clip. 'The machine's counters, wall, and shelves are all constructed from Perspex' they said. 'The movement observed in the clip is a result of natural suction that can occur between two flat, clean Perspex surfaces when they are in close contact. This suction can create friction, affecting the smoothness of the counter's movement.'

The 1% Club player brands herself ‘thick' as she gets easy picture question wrong – but would you make the same mistake?
A CONTESTANT on The 1% Club branded herself 'thick' after getting an easy picture question wrong - would you make the same mistake? The ITV quiz show, hosted by Lee Mack, has been known to stump players on certain questions. 4 4 4 Those lucky enough to reach the very end - the 1% question - have a chance to win up to £100,000. One contestant was left feeling slightly embarrassed after slipping up on a relatively straightforward picture question. It asked: "Which of these Vincent van Gogh self-portraits has been altered?" Players had just 30 seconds to examine three photos and pick out the correct answer. The answer turned out to be C - as this featured the legendary artist wearing earphones, which weren't invented in his time. After revealing four people got it wrong, Lee turned his attention to one of these players - Margaret. "Thick as two short planks", Margaret quipped after the spotlight was put on her. The contestant revealed she'd initially chosen C as her answer - only to change her mind. When asked by Lee for her reasons behind changing, Margaret replied: "God alone knows, I don't." The incident on February 28 saw the victim, 38, nearly lose his arm after he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment and kept it for around two weeks. Another mourner was reportedly glassed, one hit with a metal pole, and two people were run over by a car during the 15 minute attack at the The White Eagle Club in Stafford. Sources said the victim was attacked by three balaclava-clad thugs over an alleged £3,000 debt. He was injured by a blade that left him with a deep gash and has suffered tendon damage and is now unable to drive. Police confirmed yesterday that after the matter had been investigated Kyle and another individual were released with no further action only last month. A show source told the publication: 'ITV were entirely unaware of Kyle's past and, as he was not charged, it was not flagged as part of Love Island's stringent DBS checks. 'It's only right he can now return home to the UK to share his side of the story and therefore bosses took the decision that it was best for him not to enter the villa.' Staffordshire Police said on Monday: 'A 22-year-old man, from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of wounding and affray. Another man, also 22 and from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of affray. They are nothing but scumbags. They ruined what was a lovely send-off for a good person.' Staffordshire Police said yesterday: 'We were called to a social club on Riverway, Stafford, at 7.40pm on Friday, February 28 following reports that someone had been glassed outside and a fight was taking place. Some of the men involved were wearing masks and were carrying weapons. 'Two men went to hospital after suffering injuries at the scene. Both have since been discharged. 'A man and a woman suffered minor injuries at the scene but did not want any medical treatment. 'Officers have reviewed CCTV footage and have been actively carrying out enquiries to find out more about what happened. 'A 22-year-old man, from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of wounding and affray. "Another man, also 22 and from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of affray. 'Both were questioned in custody and bailed with conditions while our enquiries continue.' A force spokeswoman later confirmed that both suspects had been released with no further action last month.
