The 1% Club wipes out 15 players on tough sports question – but could you have got it right in 30 seconds?

A DIFFICULT sports question on The 1% Club eliminated 15 players - but could you get it right in 30 seconds? The ITV quiz regularly stumps contestants with its logic and common sense-based puzzles. 4 In one episode, a tough sports question ended 15 people's chances of winning up to £100,000. This was the 45% question -- approximately half way into the game. Host Lee Mack asked: "Miranda and Oliver are playing a game of table tennis. They change serve after every 2 points. "If Oliver served first, and the score is now 6-5, who will be serving the next point?" The players had just 30 seconds to try and work out what the correct answer was. Once time was up - and it was revealed 15 were out - Lee revealed the right answer was Miranda. The full solution was: "They played 11 points, so the next point will be the 12th point. "Oliver serves on points: 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10 and Miranda serves on points 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12." However, Lee simply joked: "Miranda - and there's the explanation." In another episode, a whopping 25 contestants were wiped out on an "easy" picture question. The 1% Club knocks out 25 players on 'easy' picture question - can you get it? Not only that, it was an 80% question - which are posed very early in the show. Lee asked the quiz hopefuls: "What two-word phrase does this code represent?" Contestants were then shown side-by-side photos of a clock and some flies. Once the 30 second time limit expired, it was shown 25 people had answered incorrectly. The 1% Club's Most Difficult Questions The 1% Club sees 100 contestants try and make it to the 1% question and be in with a chance to win a share of the jackpot. Here are just some of the show's most difficult teasers. Players had to compare and contrast three images of butterflies then explain which of the butterflies were exactly the same on both sides. Find the image and answer here. Players were shown groups of six symbols then asked which were in the same order whether you read them from left to right or right to left. Find the image and answer here. Players were asked how many different combinations were there of displaying four digits on one hand. Find the answer here. Peter had recently found his old diary that he'd written in secret code but he couldn't remember how to decipher what he wrote. Players were asked to crack the code and find out what the bold word was. WH89 I GR1W UP I WA92 21 B8 A 5L1RI72. Find the image and answer here. Players were tasked with working out how many eyes they could see in an image, which was made up of letters, symbols and emojis. Find the image and the answer here. A 1% question was based on a grid of numbers going in ascending order from 1 to 49. Starting on 25, the middle square, SEEN took you to square 27. From there, NEW took you to 20. From there, which square would SEWN take you to? Find the image and the answer here. And finally, an easy one - What common food in bold has had its letters rearranged into alphabetical order? ABDER If you really don't know you can find the answer here. Lee remarked: "I was not expecting that", as he discovered the outcome. The right answer was revealed as the common phrase "time flies". Speaking to eliminated contestants afterwards, Lee discovered at least two had answered "clock flies". 4 4

The Chase fans left 'screaming at the screen' as contestant fumbles 'ridiculously easy' question - but can YOU answer it correctly?

The Chase fans were left 'screaming at the screen' as a contestant fumbled a 'ridiculously easy' question on a recent episode of the ITV game show. The repeat instalment, shown earlier this week, saw Justin from Manchester, Reanna from Liverpool, Nicola from Nottingham and Matthew from Leeds take on the game. They were up against Shaun Wallace AKA The Dark Destroyer as they competed against the expert quizzer in a bid to take home the cash prize. Justin was first up to the podium, supported by host Bradley Walsh, 65 - but he was soon caught out and eliminated before reaching the final round. Reanna came next, building up a solid £4,000 during the cash builder quick-fire round - so things were looking good for the contestant. But the final question she faced - since dubbed 'ridiculously easy' by fans - during the main Chase itself saw her taken out too. Bradley asked her: 'In legend, how did the basilisk kill its prey?' He was referring to a serpent-like monster from Greek and Roman mythology which can kill with a stare. But it was made more famous after it was included in the second Harry Potter book, as the terrifying magical beast living in the titular Chamber of Secrets. The options Reanna was given were 'stinging', 'shouting' and 'staring'. Sadly, though, she missed the correct answer of 'staring' and found herself eliminated from the game. Viewers took to social media to express their frustration at her missing what could have been an easy win in their eyes. One said, the Express reports: 'She's clearly never watched Harry Potter.' Another commented, 'These questions are ridiculous!', while someone replied: 'Ridiculously easy? I quite agree.' People were exasperated by the moment when the episode first aired back in 2023 too: 'Everyone who had read/watched Harry Potter is screaming right now.'; 'Nah, I'm screaming, that was easy!'; 'I guess she didn't watch Potter!' But while fans at home felt it was straightforward, even Bradley himself seemed shock to discover that 'staring' was the right answer, saying incredulously: 'Really?' Elsewhere in the episode, Justin and Reanna's fellow contestant Matthew also went on to be knocked out in the first round. This left Nicola to face The Dark Destroyer alone in the final - but she was unfortunately caught by him, with one minute and eight seconds left on the clock. It comes just after Shaun, usually seen with a rather stony demeanour on The Chase, admitted 'life has not been easy' in a rare emotional social media post. The Dark Destroyer took to X to mark his 65th birthday with a video of him out out at sea at Poole Harbour in Dorset. Viewers took to social media to express their frustration at her missing what could have been an easy win in their eyes He said: 'Today is my 65th birthday. Life's not been that easy sometimes, just like this boat - rocking up and down. 'But I'm here to tell the tale. I hope I've got many more years to come.' Shaun captioned the post: 'I'm very grateful for reaching my 65th birthday today. 'My life has not been easy but I've never given up. 'I've worked hard, been persistent and have learnt valuable lessons from the multiple times I have failed. 'A genuine thank you to all my followers, I will do my best to inspire, motivate and entertain for the rest of my life. 'Have an amazing day… I intend to.' Many rushed to the comments section to send him some birthday wishes. The Dark Destroyer (pictured on The Chase in 2021) took to X to mark his 65th birthday with a video of him out out at sea at Poole Harbour in Dorset 'Happy birthday Shaun, I hope you have a day as special as you are.'; 'We hope today is filled with hope, happiness and all the things that make you smile. Happy birthday.'; 'Happy birthday Shaun, you're looking great for your age. Always my favourite, love the way you always want the contestants to do well.'

The 1% Club's shape question wipes out eight players - but can you solve it within 30 seconds?

A question on The 1% Club wiped out eight players - but can you solve it within 30 seconds? The quiz show involves 100 contestants who all attempt to win a cash prize by answering a series of questions that gradually increased in trickiness. Hosted by Lee Mack, The 1% Club works by putting questions to the public, with the percentage who got them right determining the difficulty of each round. Aptly, the final question is one that just 1% of the public answered correctly. However in one previous instalment, the 80% question tripped several people up. Lee read: 'You walk 10 miles northeast, then turn south and walk a further 20 miles. Hosted by Lee Mack , The 1% Club works by putting questions to the public, with the percentage who got them right determining the difficulty of each round 'You then walk in a straight line back to your starting point. What shape do you make?' After the countdown ended, the TV host revealed that eight players had answered incorrectly and were knocked out of the game. The correct answer was triangle. It comes after an episode, which aired back in 2022, saw two players lose their place in the competition. Lee said: 'We are at the 45% stage. Let's see the question... 'If you turn this image 90 degrees clockwise, how many arrows are pointing to the right? Your 30 seconds starts now.' The contestants were then shown a selection of blue arrows that were all going in different directions. Trying to amuse the players while wracking their brains, Lee said: 'This is like when my nan used to try and do a three-point turn.' The live audience saw the funny side of the gag and burst into laughter. After the 30 seconds was completed, Lee said: 'Okay, your time is up. Let's see who got the question right!' Only two got the answer incorrect, meaning that 18 players were still in the game at that point. The 1% Club airs on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.

The 1% Club's mind-boggling arrow question requires a keen eye - but can YOU decode it within 30 seconds?

The 1% Club's mind-boggling arrow question requires a keen eye - but can YOU decode it within 30 seconds? In an episode of the ITV show, which aired back in 2022, two players lost their place in the competition after getting it wrong. Host Lee Mack, 56, returned to our screens to present the beloved show and see if anyone could answer the 1% question. But before they got to that stage, some struggled to answer one of the questions very early on in the episode. Lee said: 'Let's have a look at the answer. It's two! As it's a 90 degree clockwise turn, you needed to find the arrows that were pointing up that would then be pointing to the right.' He then went to some of the audience members who got it right, including Georgia Massey. She confessed: 'I used my pass, honestly I got so, so confused. 'I went to pass then I was like no I'll try again and then I panicked... I've got to be in it so...' It comes after The 1% Club players were left very confused by a challenging letters question in a previous episode of the ITV show - but can you defy the odds and solve it? Three contestants waved goodbye to host Lee Mack, 56, and the other players after being asked the 15% question. Ten players remained and Lee asked them: 'It's now time for the 15% question... 'Which two words, that contain the same five letters as each other but in a different order, mean the same as the two words below?' The words below were 'fairly silent'. Making light of the situation, Lee told them: 'And the answer isn't Silent Fairly.' After revealing that their time was up, three players were given the boot. 'We lost three people there, let's look at the answer,' Lee said. He continued: 'It's quite and quiet. 'Fairly equals quite and silent equals quiet.' Lee pointed out: 'Somebody who got it right is Jackie Eminsang. 'You have just answered the 15% question... 'Did you think you'd get this far?' 'No, not at all,' she replied. 'I'm getting less confident with each question.' Lee didn't hold back and said: 'That's weird. But I know what you mean. 'It gets more tense I guess, doesn't it? The 1% Club airs on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
