Beloved Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who worked with Christina Aguilera and Lea Michele DIES aged 68

Beloved Beverly Hills plastic surgeon to the stars, Dr. Ronald Moy, has died aged 68. Moy, who was a renowned doctor with celebrity fans including Lea Michele and Christina Aguilera, passed away due to complications from neck surgery, according to TMZ. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner reported that he passed away on June 23, and the death was ruled as accidental. Daily Mail reached out to his offices for comment. Moy specialized in cosmetic and plastic surgery, per his website, and often performed procedures like face lifts, liposuction, laser skin resurfacing, eye lifts, and Mohs Micrographic Surgery. His practice was called Moy Fincher Chipps, which he led with co-owners Dr. Edgar Fincher, Dr. Lisa Chipps, and his daughter, Lauren. The accomplished doctor had an extensive and impressive medical background, completing his dermatology residency training at UCLA, and then a Facial Cosmetic and Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Health Services. Previously, he was a professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and served on the Editorial Board of the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, as well as authoring more than 200 articles about cosmetic and plastic surgery. He had recently won the Samuel J. Stegman, MD Award for Distinguished Service, which honors those who have made remarkable contributions to the dermatology field. He was also a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery. In addition, Moy was the former president of Los Angeles County Medical Association, Bay District and is past Editor-in-Chief of the Dermatologic Surgery Journal. He also dedicated his time to serving patients at the Venice Family Clinic, a community health center, for over 20 years. Over the past few years, he had grown quite a following on social media with his practice having over 21,000 followers on Instagram. In a video posted in May, he spoke about the importance of using sunscreen. He recommended using a sunscreen that contained DNA repair enzymes in it. 'It's never too late to protect your skin — but sometimes, protection isn't enough,' the caption of the post read. 'Sunscreen and UPF clothing are essential, but if you've spent years under the sun (hello, golfers), prevention needs a partner: repair,' the message continued. 'That's where ingredients like DNA repair enzymes come in — targeting existing sun damage at the cellular level to support healthier, more resilient skin. Think of it as sunscreen's smarter sidekick.' In 2016, Variety reported that both Lea Michele and Christina Aguilera were big fans of Dr. Ronald Moy's DNA Facial treatment. The facial was offered exclusively at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. It used 'patented DNA EGF Renewal products to reduce plump skin and boost collagen production,' and Moy said himself that it delivered the 'ultimate red carpet glow.' His office had three locations in California - Beverly Hills, Encino and Torrance.

Why does Emma Stone look so different? As fans go wild for Oscar-winner's 'new face reveal', top cosmetic doctor gives his verdict

A cosmetic doctor has shared his theory that Hollywood actress Emma Stone has had a 'very well executed' face lift. The 36-year-old actress sparked chatter amongst fans after attending the Los Angeles premiere of her new film Eddington late last month. Pictures from the event, which took place on June 26, showed the Oscar-winning actress looking slightly different to how people know her—with many comments claiming that it looked like her upper face was 'tighter'. While this may be due to her skincare routine and clever makeup, amongst those convinced that the star has undergone some sort of tweakment is Dr Jonny Betteridge. The London-based aesthetics doctor and founder of the clinic JB Aesthetics believes she has had surgery on her upper eyes, and a face lift procedure. In a video posted on TikTok, which has already clocked up more than 61,400 views, he asks: 'Did you notice Emma Stone looking a bit different? 'At 36, and at the recent Eddington film premiere, her face looked noticeably more defined and facelifted. 'Her brows sit higher, especially the tails, the eyelids are more visible, and her eyes have an almond like shape. 'Looking from her four years ago, these changes could be consistent with an upper blepharoplasty and an endoscopic temporal brow lift and mid face lift.' The doctor explained: '(They) lift and tighten the mid to upper face, like the cheeks, temples, and brows, using small incisions and a tiny camera called an endoscope.' Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure where excess skin is removed from the eyelids, either reducing overhang from the eyebrows, or removing fatty deposits and tightening 'bags' from under the eyes. In an upper blepharoplasty, which is what Dr Betteridge has theorised Ms Stone has had, excess skin is cut from the eyelids in order to make the eyes appear larger and more 'awake'. For more dramatic results, it is often performed along with a brow lift, where tiny incisions are made in the hairline and the muscles of the upper face are pulled upwards, reducing age-related sagging. He added that these are 'minimally invasive procedures' that are 'typically done on people in their 30s to 40s who are showing mild to moderate signs of facial aging.' The other procedure that Dr Betteridge alleges Ms Stone has undergone is a mid face lift. With the procedure, he added: 'Incisions are well hidden in the hairline, temporal area, or inside the mouth, which helps to reduce visible scarring.' Fans have noted that the actress' face looks more lifted in June 2025 (left) compared to October last year (left) He said her face on the red carpet 'closely resembles' examples of those who had the procedure as seen in a 2024 article in the journal Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. 'These patients show similar anatomical shifts, lifted brows and mid face, and an almond-like appearance to their eyes. And these are common results of an endoscopic face lift,' he said. But he added: 'Whatever may have been done, it appears to be tasteful, elegant and very well executed.' In the UK, the cost of an upper blepharoplasty ranges between £2,000 to £6,000, and a mid face lift around £6,000 to £12,000. After the video was posted, over a hundred social media users commented on the Hollywood actress' evolved appearance. In the comment section, one user said: 'Love this look on her'. Another said: 'She looks absolutely beautiful, whoever says otherwise is jealous. A third commented: 'I think she looks gorgeous then and now'. However, others were not as convinced, suggesting other things could be behind her fresh look. One user commented: 'Am I the only person who thinks this is all just down to brow shape and makeup?' While the aesthetics doctor has speculated that the Hollywood actress has had the cosmetic procedure, she has not confirmed if this is true. Facial tightening is also possible with dermatologist-grade facials which use radio frequency devices, LED lights and ultrasound waves to boost collagen, brighten, tighten and plump the skin. The appearance of a lifted eye can also be created by using cosmetic stickers which are applied in the crease of the eyelid, or hidden in the hairline to make skin appear more taught. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Dr Jonny Betteridge (@ Ms Stone has never spoken about having any sort of tweakment, but she is passionate about good skincare. She previously told Cosmopolitan that she has very dry and sensitive skin, so she is incredibly picky about what products she uses. 'I'm really allergic to a lot of stuff, so I can only use products with a single ingredient in it,' she said. 'I use a cleanser and sometimes I exfoliate with baking soda or brown sugar. I like experimenting. I love coconut oil, and olive oil—I have a big bottle of it on my sink and I put it all over my face and smell like it's sexy.' She also revealed that she's a fan of eye-makeup, which, if applied correctly, has the potential to change the appearance of the upper face, sometimes quite drastically. Ms Stone continued: 'I've learned to fill in my eyebrows—I use an eyeshadow and a little brush to do them, which I enjoy...I wear mascara most days, but I do put on a little makeup every day because it helps me feel put together. But yeah, mascara is essential.' There is every possibility that Ms Stone hasn't gone under the knife at all, and has just spent a good few hours in the makeup chair. For last year's Oscars ceremony, Ms Stone's glam squad revealed that they used $2,000-worth of hair and beauty products to create her ethereal, mermaid-like look.

Just one surgical procedure is more popular than breast augmentation: See the report

Americans continue to invest in their aesthetic health. A new report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) shows steady growth in cosmetic procedures last year, particularly in body contouring and minimally invasive treatments. The report's data, detailed below, reveals where people are spending their money. Of the nearly 1.6 million cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2024, liposuction and breast augmentation topped the list. "Surgical procedures grew by 1% from 2023," ASPS President Dr. Scott Hollenbeck, a general plastic surgeon based in Charlottesville, Virginia, shared in a press release, noting that body contouring procedures saw the highest increase. Thigh and buttock lifts were up 3%, while arm and neck lifts rose 2%. Surgeons believe this may reflect the rising use of GLP-1 weight-loss medications, like Ozempic and Wegovy, which can lead to sagging skin. Minimally invasive procedures continue to dominate the aesthetic landscape, with over 28.5 million performed last year. The top five listed below led the pack. "These treatments remain strong due to their affordability and low downtime," said ASPS member surgeon Dr. Kristy Hamilton, a general plastic surgeon based in Houston, Texas, in the release. "Despite so-called 'filler fatigue,' HA fillers continue to top the list — when done naturally, they're extremely effective," she added. For the first time, ASPS tracked the use of GLP-1 weight-loss medications, noting that over 837,000 prescriptions were written by ASPS surgeons in 2024. Of those patients, 20% had already undergone surgery, 39% were considering surgery and 41% were exploring non-surgical options, the report shared. "These medications are helping patients reach a healthy weight before surgery," Dr. Heather Faulkner, a cosmetic plastic surgeon based in Atlanta, Goergia, said in the release. "But they're not substitutes — you must be near your goal weight before considering procedures like tummy tucks or lifts." A number of factors could contribute to the high demand for cosmetic procedures, according to experts. "Maybe it's greater exposure through social media or a general decrease in taboos," said Hollenbeck. "Either way, patients are prioritizing their aesthetic health." Surgeons agree that aesthetic procedures go beyond vanity, suggesting they are about feeling strong, confident and healthy. Many also see them as part of a holistic self-care routine, alongside diet, fitness and mental well-being. "Patients are prioritizing their aesthetic health." Social media is also helping to normalize aesthetic care, making procedures more accessible and less stigmatized, the report stated. Patients now openly discuss their experiences and are seeking natural, subtle enhancements, not exaggerated results. "There's a trend toward the 'ballerina body,'" Dr. Michele Shermak, a general plastic surgeon based in Baltimore, Maryland, said in the report. "Smaller implants, lifted silhouettes — women want to look refined, not overdone." Cosmetic procedures weren't the only area of growth. Over one million reconstructive surgeries were performed in 2024, including the most common ones listed below. "Plastic surgeons are also innovators in complex wound care," said Dr. Sara Dickie, general plastic surgeon based in Morton Grove, Illinois, according to the report. "Whether it's trauma, dog bites or tumor removal, our work goes beyond aesthetics." For more Health articles, visit While trends may come and go, ASPS emphasizes that safety should always come first, recommending that procedures are performed by board-certified plastic surgeons with the appropriate training and experience. "Patients want to look and feel their best," Hollenbeck added. "And when done right, aesthetic care can support mental and physical well-being in truly meaningful ways."
