Social Sharing The cast of Every Year After, the television adaptation of Carley Fortune's bestselling novel Every Summer After has been announced. Set over six years and one emotionally charged weekend, the dual-timeline Every Summer After follows Percy and Sam, two childhood friends whose close bond was shattered by a fateful moment that forced them apart — and the complicated love story that unfolds when they're reunited years later at a funeral. The book is set in Ontario cottage country. A fan-favourite character returns in Carley Fortune's One Golden Summer The Amazon Prime Video series will feature British actor Sadie Soverall as Percy and American actor Matt Cornett as Sam, Fortune said in a newsletter to fans. Soverall is best known for her role as Annabel in the movie Saltburn. She has also appeared as Beatrix in Fate: The Winx Saga and Maisy in Little Bone Lodge. Cornett was in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as EJ and most recently, Summer of 69 as Max. "I was absolutely blown away by their chemistry reads and their auditions," Fortune said in the newsletter. "I held my breath, I swooned, I cried. You are going to fall in love with them — I promise." Fortune is a Toronto-based writer and journalist who has worked as an editor for Refinery29, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine and Toronto Life. Her books are One Golden Summer, Every Summer After, This Summer Will Be Different and Meet Me at the Lake, which was the first romance book on Canada Reads, championed by Mirian Njoh. Other cast members announced were American actors Aurora Perrineau as Chantal, Abigail Cowen as Delilah and Michael Bradway as Charlie. Canadian actor Joseph Chiu will play Jordie. "I was on set recently during the filming of the first season, and — it was so incredible to see how this series is coming together. Friends, it's so gorgeous and these actors are such a dreamy cast. I can't wait to share more with you as the series continues to come together, including when you can expect to see it on your screen."

Heavy OPP presence in Severn township after Hwy 11 closed Tuesday morning

Police have lifted a shelter in place advisory after reopening Highway 11, but said there will still be a heavy police presence in the Severn township as they investigate an earlier incident. Ontario Provincial Police say Highway 11 was closed between Severn River Road and Coopers Falls Road and between Canning Road and Graham Road. OPP announced the closure of the major artery into cottage country just after 7 a.m. Tuesday and issued a public safety advisory on social media, asking people to avoid the area. Commuters in the closure area were told to stay in their vehicles and lock their doors. Police cited an ongoing investigation, but said no other information is available at this time.
