This City Was Named the Coziest in Asia

You know the feeling of curling up in an oversized chair with a hot cup of tea in hand, just as the sun is going down, with a book you've been dying to crack open? It turns out, there are entire towns that feel just like that. In late 2024, All Clear, a travel insurance company, released its study showcasing the coziest cities in the world. To figure out which places offer this warm and inviting feeling best, it first had to define what "cozy" really means. To define 'cozy,' the team focused on places that evoke comfort, warmth, and relaxation—measuring the number of cafes, bookstores, cinemas, theaters, and museums per square mile. They also considered historical architecture (via UNESCO sites) and social media mentions using the hashtag #cozy. Another variable was each spot's annual precipitation, noting that few things feel cozier than staying inside with a view while it rains outside. It combined all these metrics to give each destination a "cozy" score. And after all that data searching, it named Seoul, South Korea, the coziest city in all of Asia and the No. 19 coziest city overall. The city ranked highly on the list thanks to its three UNESCO World Heritage sites, Jongmyo Shrine, Changdeokgung Palace Complex, and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty, along with its astonishing number of coffee shops, with more than 75,000 across the entire nation of South Korea and more than 10,000 in Seoul alone. (Though, some estimates say Seoul has nearly 25,000 coffee shops.) And let's not forget the rain: Seoul experiences roughly 80 rainy days a year with June, July, and August being the rainiest months. However, there are places even cozier than Seoul. At the top of the list is Brussels, a place that "plays host to beautiful architecture and great food," the findings noted. "Better experienced in the colder seasons than the summer months, its medieval buildings paired with its comforting food (chocolate and Belgian waffles, anyone?) make this a great choice for a cozy break." The rest of the top five include Paris in second, followed by Geneva, Copenhagen, and Lisbon. See the full cozy list and start planning your warm and fuzzy getaway at

Kmart shoppers go wild over $79 'perfect' winter must-have item: 'Best purchase ever'

As parts of Australia freeze their way through a chilly winter, a new cosy heating device has caught the attention of shoppers. The Kmart Flame Effect Fireplace Heater, $79, is currently being snapped up because it not only provides lovely spatial warmth, but also has a stylish vintage aesthetic. The heating unit looks like a classic miniature fireplace, and even features a realistic LED log flame inside it that mimics a roaring flame. These design elements are in stark to most freestanding plug-in heaters, which tend to be unsightly, boxy and rudimentary in appearance. Unsurprisingly, the imitation fireplace heater is currently sold out online. Many Kmart stores also list that they have low or no stock of the popular item. The delightfully designed heater is already a winner with Kmart shoppers, and has earnt a 4.6 stars rating on the mass retailer's website. 'Perfect for creating the cutest atmosphere for chilly evenings,' read one review. 'Warms the room quickly and looks good,' confirmed another. The log flame effect, which is adjustable in brightness via a dial control, was also highlighted in many of the reviews. Happy customers were particularly taken with the way the fire effect could be used 'without the heater' to create a softly lit atmosphere. 'Fantastic warm flame effect makes the room cosy,' said one reviewer. The freestanding heater has two power heat settings: 900W or 1800W, as well as a thermostat control for each mode. The electrical item also has a number of safety features including overheat protection, a tip over switch and a safety thermal cut-off device. A recent video showing a Brisbane woman installing the Kmart fireplace heater in her cabin has been viewed over 134,000 times. Artist Phoebe Hofsteede recently demonstrated how the 'faux fire place heater' added 'such cute ambiance' to her artist cabin retreat. In the video, the photographer unboxed and assembled the Kmart buy before setting it up in the corner of a room. The 33-second video, which has received thousands of likes, showcased how effortlessly the heating unit fit into her eclectic space. Among the thousands of comments were messages taking delight with how the heater looked inside Phoebe's cabin. 'What a cozycore vibe,' read one reply. 'Aesthetically pleasing,' added another. 'I love the burning flame, just looks like it's a fire place,' wrote a third. Several commenters also chimed in that they had the same one, praising it as 'such a good little heater'. 'This is the best purchase ever and I love her in my little villa,' read one reply. But amid a cost of living crisis, many commenters expressed concern about the heating device chewing through power and hiking up electricity bills. 'We used to have this and I loved it, my husband got rid of it, apparently our electric bill went up.' 'I want one so bad but I'm worried about the electricity bill,' added another. Heaters aren't the only Kmart device shoppers are investing in to stay warm this winter. The recently launched Kmart Heated Foot Warmer, $27 has also won over shoppers. The unusual buy has been dubbed an 'instant win' on chilly mornings and as a sneaky addition under office desks. Sold in a sleek grey, the cosy slip-on device find has adjustable heat settings (three) and gently warms the feet, aiding with both relaxation and circulation. It also has a long USB cord for ease of use, overheat protection and is USB powered so it can be used almost anywhere.

Dunelm is a selling a ‘garden must-have' for 30% less – it's perfect for al-fresco summer evenings

A chimenea has been reduced at Dunelm as part of a summer sale on outdoor products. This affordable garden addition now has 30% off, with the price slashed from £75 to just £52.50. 1 Dunelm Steel Chimenea £52.50 (was £75) BUY FROM DUNELM Hot temperatures have reached the UK this week, and if you're hoping to soak up the sun until as late in the day as possible, you may want to kit out your garden in preparation. With the heatwave that's coming up, the nicest time to sit in the garden may well be the evening when it gets cooler. But evenings can still get a little chilly, so sometimes added warmth is needed - which is where this Dunelm deal comes in. Similar to a firepit, a chimenea helps add heat to an outdoor area, with the only difference being the shape. The taller design directs smoke upwards, and sparks are more contained, so it could be a safer alternative to an open firepit - that does also mean that the heat spreads less, so it's best suited to smaller areas. Not only could this bargain chimenea come in handy post-BBQ when temperatures drop, but it also helps add a cosy atmosphere to a corner of the garden. Dunelm's is made out of steel and comes with a poker to safely rearrange the coals. The sale deal is part of a wider Dunelm price cut of up to 50% off across hundreds of garden items, including furniture, ornaments and BBQ accessories. There's not too long left to shop though, as the sale comes to an end at midnight on Sunday (22nd June). It's a good time to shop too, with most of the summer still ahead of us, plus this heatwave hopefully won't be the last. Dunelm shoppers are leaving their praise for the chimenea online, with one calling it ''brilliant'', adding that it's ''effective and easy to assemble''. Another happy shopper hailed it: ''A garden must-have''. While a third was just as positive, writing: ''Worth the money, easy to assemble and provides a good heat.'' If you want to keep relaxing on the patio once the sun sets, it's also worth knowing about the best solar lights for the garden you can buy. Now summer is well and truly here, there's no more time to put off tackling your hedges and foliage, and the GTech Hedge Trimmer has £70 off right now. Buy Sheds Direct has reduced a 6 x 4-inch shed to under £300. pair of patio palms, which are half price at Gardening Express.

Where We Are Going Today: ‘Onda' Coffee in Riyadh

With several branches across Riyadh, Onda is a quiet, cozy coffee shop that offers a peaceful setting — ideal for studying or working. Music, if played, is usually kept at a low volume, which helps maintain a calm atmosphere. The menu includes a variety of hot and cold beverages, such as espresso-based drinks, iced teas, and seasonal options like hot chocolate raspberry and Arabian latte. While the cold drinks include flavored iced teas like raspberry and peach, these are made with syrups rather than fresh fruit. Onda also offers a range of pre-packaged pastries, such as croissants in plain, cheese, and zaatar flavors. These are reheated on-site, which is common in many Riyadh cafes, but there is no in-house bakery. The interiors are simple and calming, with blue and white decor, comfortable seating, and plenty of charging outlets. Each location features a small bookshelf for guests to browse, adding to the relaxed vibe. Outdoor seating — especially in the Diplomatic Quarter — is a nice touch, with some locations offering views of lively streets. Onda is also open from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m., making it a convenient spot for both early risers and night owls.
