Has Ballard Season 2 Been Canceled or Renewed?

Viewers are curious about whether Ballard has been renewed or canceled for Season 2. Created by Michael Connelly and Michael Alaimo, the crime series follows Detective Renée Ballard. She leads a cold case division dedicated to investigating long-forgotten crimes. While tackling the demands of her professional life, she also navigates personal challenges. With Season 1 having already premiered, curiosity has grown around future installments. Here are all the details. At the time of writing, Ballard Season 2 has neither been canceled nor renewed by Amazon Prime Video. However, co-creator Connelly remains hopeful about its future. In conversation with ScreenRant, he revealed that the show hasn't been officially greenlit. He reveals that its renewal will depend on its performance. He is also positive that the show will likely appeal to the audience. 'We are very confident that the show is going to do well because if you've seen it, you know that it's going to appeal to people. So, hopefully, we'll get a second season, and then we'll be off,' he added. Additionally, he recalled the days of filming Bosch, when he asked lead star Titus Welliver if he would stay on the show for five seasons and received a positive response. He said, 'I think what happened with Bosch is pretty rare, and I can still remember on the first day of filming Bosch, I did an interview for Instagram or something, where I asked Titus if he could stick around for five seasons. And he said, 'Yeah,' but we got twice that, so we'll see what happens. I think the show does have legs. There are a lot of stories we can tell with Renée and with Maggie, so hopefully, we get a chance to do that.' Generally, several factors are involved in a series renewal, with the most critical being audience reception, streaming performance, and financial viability. In Ballard's case, it's too early to determine its performance, as it has premiered recently. As a result, viewers will have to wait for some time to get clarity on the series' future. 'Near-perfect' crime series starring Coronation Street legend finally hits Netflix - as viewers hail it as 'a refreshing change' for the genre

A 'near-perfect' crime series starring a Coronation Street legend has finally hit Netflix, as viewers hailed it 'a refreshing change' for the genre. The Madame Blanc Mysteries, which dropped on the streamer on Wednesday, stars Sally Lindsay, known as Rovers Return landlady Shelley Unwin in the ITV soap. The cosy crime show, which started on Channel 5 in 2021 to massive success, follows Sally as Cheshire antiques dealer turned armchair detective Jean White. Set in a fictional village in southern France, it sees amateur investigator Jean, helped by a cast of locals, solve her husband's murder - and an array of other mysteries. The four series were co-written by Sally, with long-time writing partner British actress Sue Vincent, who also stars as local garage owner Gloria. It also features an array of guest stars, including Les Dennis and the late Paul O'Grady - and its avid fans will be delighted to now be able to stream it all on Netflix. The cosy crime show (pictured), which started on Channel 5 in 2021 to massive success, follows Sally as Cheshire antiques dealer turned armchair detective Jean White One dubbed the series 'almost perfect' in a review left on film cataloguing site IMDb: 'Really enjoying this comedy-drama-mystery so far. 'It's great to have a show written by and predominately starring over 50s that is clean enough for all generations to watch together.' Another wrote: 'Silly fun in a light entertainment format. Of course it's not meant to be taken seriously. Of course the actors are hamming it up. 'It's still an entertaining little package best enjoyed with a nice glass of red French wine.' Someone else commented: 'Really enjoyed this. Great location. A bright, sunny and refreshing change. 'The ongoing mystery is intriguing and the self-contained weekly case to be solved keeps things ticking along nicely. A lovely change.' One user was keen to see more: 'I would like to see more of this. A mystery without the over dramatising. 'I like the characters and there is a lovely mystery to solve. The background of France is so entertaining also. A nice break from England and the US.' Its avid fans will be delighted to now be able to stream it all on Netflix The show starts with her husband Rory's (Peter Gaynor) death in a car crash while at holiday home in the fictional village of Saint Victoire. As she puts his affairs in order, she realises to her horror that all her assets have been pawned off, leaving her penniless - so she heads to France to try to sort things out. She soon suspects foul play in Rory's death, as well as the possibility he was leading a double life, with another woman and family entirely. Not only that, his priceless ring has gone missing - creating a clear motive for a potential killer. She is not tackling the investigation alone though, joined by taxi driver and potential new love interest Dom (Benidorm's Steve Edge). Expat chateau owners Jeremy and Judith (Robin Askwith and Only Fools and Horses' Sue Holderness) are also there to help. They are joined in their crime fighting by The Chuckle Brothers' Paul Chuckle as local man Trevor and Blackadder's Tony Robinson as Dom's uncle Patrick. And each episode of the series brings a new case for the gang to tackle. A festive special of the sun-soaked series, filmed in Malta, has already been commissioned, to warm the winter months. And four series in to The Madame Blanc Mysteries, Sally has said she will keep writing it as long as there is appetite for it. She said ahead of the fourth season's release early last year: 'I'm not under any, "Yes, I'll quit when I'm on a high". No, I won't. 'I love it so much. I will do it until they want me to not do it, to be honest, because it's such a special thing in my life. And it's such a part of our lives now.' It comes after viewers recently revisited another enjoyable sun-soaked project from Sally, now also available on Netflix. Love Rat - first released to Channel 5 in March last year - follows Emma, played by Sally, a woman at a crossroads in later life. Just divorced from husband Pete (Men Behaving Badly's Neil Morrissey) and estranged from her daughter, she grows tired of mundane everyday life. In search of escape, she travels to Cyprus on holiday where she quickly embarks on a whirlwind romance with handsome, rich hotel owner Niko (Gerald Kyd). But not all is as it seems as Emma suddenly finds herself scammed out of her life savings - and enlisting her ex to help get them back. Fans have taken to film review and catalogue site IMDb to admire the four-part series, initially seemingly some fun in the sun, which turns into a psychological thriller. One commenter said: 'When you first watch episode one, you think it's going to be about a general love rat romance on holiday, stealing money etc. 'It's from episode two onwards it then becomes so much more!' Another added: 'It's one of the drama highlights of 2024 and certainly one of Channel 5's better drama offerings. 'I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not often these days do I binge watch a show. 'Full of twists and turns. Expect the unexpected. It's loaded with suspense and keeps you guessing until the very end.' Someone else, who could recommend watching it one sitting, said: 'A realistic scenario of psycho narcissistic abuse lurks behind the series' true plot twist. 'This series has moments of suspense well-played. Well done to [the] actors involved in this... Great series.'

Downton Abbey star, 69, left with bag over head in graveyard for new show

Phyllis Logan is set to leave her genteel image behind in the quirky new crime series, Murder Most Puzzling. Playing Cora, she lives in an opulent home with niece Sherry (Charlotte Hope), forming an unexpected pillar of strength after Sherry's traumatic break up. The tie between them is complicated but warm-hearted. "It's sweet," Phyllis Logan comments. "Even though Sherry gets very frustrated with Cora, they adore each other. Cora didn't have kids, but she and her niece are a real family unit. Cora just wants Sherry to get over her divorce." Enter Cora, known as the Puzzle Lady, whose knack for solving puzzles lands her in hot water with the local constabulary. "She really interferes with the investigation," Phyllis remarks. "I mean, who the hell does she think she is? But it's so nice to have a woman of a certain age challenging the system." Cora isn't one to shy away from peril, as Phyllis teases a particularly risky moment for her character. Recalling the experience, Phyllis divulges, "I was on my knees with a plastic bag over my head. I did that in the middle of the night in a graveyard with a smoke machine. It was very atmospheric." Despite being game for the action, Phyllis didn't perform her own stunts. "There were lots of stunts, like people falling into graves," she shares, "I had a fall so we had a stunt double for that. They were a great team." Best recognised for her sophisticated roles as Downton Abbey's Mrs Hughes and Lovejoy's Lady Jane Felsham, the 69 year old actress is ditching the corset – and lighting up a cigarette. In this six-part series, Phyllis portrays Cora Felton, a sharp-tongued crossword aficionado with a wild side. "She's a wonderful breath of fresh air," Phyllis enthuses. "I love the way she drinks Bloody Marys for breakfast and smokes like a chimney. She's pleasant enough, but she really doesn't give a toss. That's what I aspire to be – but not necessarily smoking and drinking vodka." Cora's been married – and divorced – multiple times, but Phyllis found the chaos exhilarating. "She has this vibrant backdrop to her life," she explains, "Her marriages have all ended in divorce but she'll enter another one. She's still a bit of a romantic. She hasn't turned into an old cynic." Although seemingly set in the Yorkshire Dales, the show was actually filmed in Northern Ireland, making full use of the atmospheric scenery. "We used some countryside which could be anywhere," Phyllis reveals, "But it was lovely filming there. It's a great place, and we had a great time." And there was a personal connection, too. "We filmed in a place outside Belfast called Ballymena," she recalls, "It's where my maternal grandparents were born. They left to go to Scotland." Co-star Adam Best, who plays lead detective DCI Hooper, was ready to aid her in a personal quest. "He said he'd drive around the area to see if we could find out more about my grandparents," shares Phyllis, "But we never really got the chance to do it." With hectic schedules, filming for 10-to 12-hour days, there was hardly any time for Phyllis to unwind. "I didn't get a chance to do much socialising," she admits, "I was working most of the time." Nevertheless, Phyllis cherished the relationships she developed on set with Charlie – known offscreen as Charlotte – and Alistair Brammer, who brings young journalist Anton Grant to life. "Charlotte would go home when she wasn't working," Phyllis reveals. The camaraderie on set was undeniable. "But we had such a nice time on set. When were waiting for scenes to change around, we'd set up in the green room, which was in somebody's house. She'd be on the bed and I would be at the end of the bed, using it as my office. We were a right trio with Alistair!" They exchanged everything from tales to treats. "I'm the old granny of the team," Phyllis says in jest. Originally presented with the option of a flat, Phyllis opted for hotel living and reflects on the choice fondly. "I'd open the curtains and the river would be just there. I found it so soothing and relaxing. I'd sit at the table, order a room service soup and a glass of wine." Phyllis admitted she enjoys a good brain-teaser when the cameras stop rolling, sharing, "I like doing the cryptic crossword puzzles," and confessing, "It feels so good when it's actually done" – making her the perfect fit to portray the UK's most bizarre detective on screen. Murder Most Puzzling serves up a delightful blend of mystery with its unique flair and puzzling plot twists that echo the essence of Miss Marple, channelled through Ludwig, all while encapsulated in the character of Cora. She's delightfully disordered, forthright and hell-bent on cracking cases – whether you're on board or not.
