Ravindra Jadeja's Bittersweet English Tales
Ravindra Jadeja rose to fame on English soil 12 years ago. Since then, he has gone back multiple times and returned with bittersweet memories. Here are the reasons why the English fans in the past decade have been in awe of this spunky cricketer who transitioned from a rockstar to a big brother on the tour. Ravi Jadeja's Champions Trophy show in 2013 This was the year the world, and particularly England woke up to the magic and madness of Ravi Jadeja. He won the Golden Ball that year, for picking up 12 wickets in 5 matches at an average of 12.83. The left-arm spinner bowled with accuracy, and picked up wickets in conditions that were not conducive to spin bowling. That was when Jadeja established himself as the man for all formats The Jadeja- Anderson Spat- 2014 A year later he returned to England with MS Dhoni 's test side and returned to the headlines too with his spat with Jimmy Anderson. The incident, which occurred during the lunch break in Trent Bridge on day 2, involved allegations of Anderson pushing and abusing Jadeja. Anderson claimed Jadeja had acted aggressively towards him. This led to a Level 3 charge against Anderson by the ICC and a Level 1 charge against Jadeja. But the effects of the incident was felt from Nottingham to Southampton as the whole tour party travelled from North to South of England. The Bits and Pieces cricketer- 2019 Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar kicked up a social media storm by calling Ravi Jadeja a bits and pieces cricketer during the world cup 2019. By this time he was an established cricketer in the Indian set up... It was during the 2019 ODI World Cup when former India cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar called Ravindra Jadeja a 'bits and pieces' cricketer during India's match against England. He said during commentary, "I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner," Jadeja's extra practice Birmingham- 2025 He has outlasted his contemporaries - Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravi Ashwin and so on this tour of England is a remnant of that golden generation of Indian cricket. Jadeja decided to lead in his own style. He swept aside BCCI's diktat of travelling with the team arrived at Edgbaston on day two of the second Test a lot earlier than his India teammates for some extra batting practice and that clearly worked in his favour as the all-rounder put his team in a strong position alongside double centurion Shubman Gill. Jadeja Lord's test- 2025 And finally the tragic hero at Lord's on this tour.. He batted for 181 balls and 266 minutes for his 61. Along the way batted with the last 5 batters. But his effort could not ensure an India win in Lords. They fell short by 22 runs on 22 yards.

Referee Body Cams And Enhanced Offside Detection System A Club World Cup: FIFA
Last Updated: FIFA will test body cameras for referees and advanced offside detection at the Club World Cup in the USA. FIFA Club World Cup (X) FIFA announced on Friday that referees equipped with body cameras and an enhanced offside detection system will be key innovations at this year's Club World Cup in the United States. For the first time in a FIFA tournament, match officials will wear body cameras, with selected footage broadcast live to audiences. A new, advanced version of semi-automated offside technology, combining artificial intelligence, multiple cameras, and ball sensors, will be used to expedite decision-making, while maintaining VAR oversight for close calls. FIFA stated, 'However, for challenging offside scenarios, the video assistant referee will still validate the information provided by the system before a decision is made." According to the governing body, the tournament, expanding to 32 teams this year, will serve as a significant testing ground for both systems. Representatives from each of the six continental confederations will participate: AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), Concacaf (North, Central America and the Caribbean), CONMEBOL (South America), OFC (Oceania), and UEFA (Europe). The first edition of FIFA's new premier club competition, the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, will be hosted in the USA from 14 June to 13 July 2025. tags : club world cup FIFA FIFA Club World Cup Location : Zurich First Published: June 07, 2025, 12:33 IST News sports » football Referee Body Cams And Enhanced Offside Detection System A Club World Cup: FIFA

Luke Littler slams 'scum of the earth' as car window smashed during exhibition
Luke Littler has endured a rollercoaster week having secured top spot in the Premier League before having to deal with an unfortunate incident during an exhibition match in Norwich Darts wonderkid Luke Littler took aim at the 'absolute scum of the Earth' who left his car window smashed while he was on the oche. The 18-year-old was in action in Norwich for an exhibition. But it did not all quite go to plan for Littler as he returned to his car with the back window smashed in. Sharing the news on Instagram, he shared a picture of the car, alongside the caption: 'Just trying to do an exhibition in Norwich and this happens, absolute scum of the earth.' Littler was playing at the MODUS Sports exhibition, alongside the legendary Raymond van Barneveld and Luke Humphries. The incident rounded off what has been a rollercoaster week for Littler. Earlier this week, he had secured top spot in the Premier League on Night 15 in Aberdeen. Despite having already reached the semi-finals, he put on an absolute classic against Humphries and has now guaranteed himself as the first-placed playoff qualifier. He will be joined by Humphries and Gerwyn Price, the pair having also qualified. Meanwhile, Littler's participation at this year's World Cup was also confirmed, having announced he will join forces with Humphries. Taking to Instagram announcing his pairing, Littler wrote: "Dream team confirmed. Bring on the world cup in June @lukehumphries180." There was initially some doubt over Littler's participation in the competition having hinted that he would not play again in Germany until later in the year. But he allayed any fears that supporters may have had. He said: "No, no I was always [going to play]. Luke [Humphries] will want to go back-to-back and obviously I want to win it for the first time. Even though it's not a major, it's still playing for your country." Partner Humphries also gave his verdict and was sure Littler was going to be there. He said: "I saw Luke's post and I knew straight away that he didn't mean what he said. He probably forgot about the World Cup being in Germany. When I asked him about it he said: 'No, I'm definitely playing'. Of course he is. "No-one's going to turn down playing for England. You can never turn down playing for your country. I would never turn it down in a million years, no matter how tired I was, how ill I was. I'm putting on the England jersey, whether I'm dying or not." On the chance to finally be playing with Littler and not against him, Humphries added: "I feel like the fans are going to enjoy watching us both play together. The two best players in the world, a lot of pressure is going to be on our shoulders. I think everybody is expecting us to win it and no one's going to touch us." Morocco Power Past Tanzania 2-0 to Keep World Cup Dream on Track
Doha – The Atlas Lions maintained their perfect qualifying campaign with a controlled 2-0 victory over Tanzania on Tuesday evening at Oujda's Stade d'Honneur, extending their impressive run to nine consecutive wins. After a goalless first half where Morocco dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances, the breakthrough finally came in the 51st minute when defender Nayef Aguerd capitalized on a rebound following El Yamiq's header from an Ezzalzouli corner. The hosts doubled their advantage eight minutes later through Brahim Diaz, who converted from the penalty spot after Mazraoui was fouled in the box. The Real Madrid midfielder's successful conversion put Morocco firmly in control of the match. Playing without suspended star Achraf Hakimi, Morocco fielded a strong lineup with Bounou in goal, protected by a defense of Mazraoui, El Yamiq, Aguerd, and Belammari. The midfield trio of Saibari, Amrabat, and El Khanouss controlled the tempo, while Diaz, En-Nesyri, and Ezzalzouli led the attack. Despite holding over 80% possession in the first half, Morocco initially struggled to break down Tanzania's defensive organization. The visitors, led by coach Hemed Suleiman, showed resilience and even created a dangerous opportunity in the 42nd minute when Salum's volley narrowly missed Bounou's post. The match saw several substitutions in the latter stages, with Morocco introducing Rahimi, Ben Seghir, and Ounahi to maintain their attacking momentum. Tanzania remained competitive but couldn't find a way back into the match after falling behind. This victory strengthens Morocco's position at the top of Group E in the World Cup qualifiers, where they have now won all five of their matches. The result puts them in a strong position to secure qualification for what would be their seventh World Cup appearance. The Atlas Lions will conclude this international window with a perfect record, having previously defeated Niger 2-1 in their previous qualifier. Their defensive solidity continues to impress, with the team having conceded just twice in their last five matches while scoring 22 goals. Tags: 2026 world cup qualifersMorocco vs Tanzania
