Good Morning Britain favourite AXED from show amid ITV's brutal daytime telly cuts

Good Morning Britain 's US Correspondent, Noel Phillips, has been axed from the daytime show amid sweeping redundancies across ITV 's daytime brands. Phillips's pending exit has sparked concern internally about the show's on-air diversity after MailOnline previously revealed Adil Ray was facing the axe too. A consultation process about the former This Morning presenter's future remains ongoing but ITV is laying off around half of the 450 employees who work across GMB, Lorrain, This Morning and Loose Women - with Noel expected to be one of them. The Royal Television Society award-winning journalist joined GMB in 2021 from Sky News and he has been central to coverage of racial unrest in the US and UK. He was close to gunfire in Minneapolis when reporting on the protests that followed the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright by police office Kim Potter. Noel recently spoke about suffering a racist attack in London two years ago and more recently he was hit by a rubber bullet during his reporting on the June protests in Los Angeles. Phillips's pending exit has sparked concern internally about the show's on-air diversity after MailOnline previously revealed Adil Ray was facing the axe too. ITV is closing GMB's offices in the US as it moves the show under the control of ITN, the independent production company that makes ITV News. In May ITV announced there would be dramatic changes to their daytime TV schedule, with Lorraine Kelly's show slashed from an hour to 30 minutes and, like Loose Women, will only air 30 weeks of the year. Top TV talents including Lorraine, 65, whose career spans over 40 years, are believed to be 'furious' and 'insulted' over the shake-up while the Loose Women are already fearing inevitable job losses. The new regime, set to come into effect in January, will cost a potential 300 staff members their jobs as a consultation period begins as soon as today, lasting until September, before employees are finally let go in December. But just as Lorraine's beloved daytime show is about to be hit by savage cuts, her ratings have shot through the roof. Currently being presented by Christine Lampard, 46, during the holidays, the ITV show, which will soon be cut right down to half the amount of hours on air, has overtaken This Morning. Yesterday, Lorraine's morning programme attracted a peak of 700,000 viewers, whilst This Morning which has been presented by Rochelle Humes and Dermot O'Leary, had 675,000. A TV insider said: 'You can only imagine what Lorraine will think. Whilst she's on holiday Christine steps into her shoes and suddenly her show takes over This Morning.'

‘Good Morning Britain' U.S. Correspondent Noel Phillips To Exit Amid Job Cuts

EXCLUSIVE: Good Morning Britain journalist Noel Phillips is expected to leave the breakfast show after more than four years amid sweeping redundancies across ITV's daytime brands. As the UK network shifts funding to streamer-friendly series, ITV announced in May that it was laying off around half of the 450 employees who work across ITV Studios-produced GMB, Lorraine, This Morning, and Loose Women. More from Deadline In Rare Joint Statement, UK Broadcasting Union & Producer Trade Body Pledge To Eliminate "Broken Turnaround" ITV Content Boss Spotlights Difficulty Dealing With "Historic" Misconduct Complaints As He Addresses 'MasterChef' Scandal ITV Profits Down 30% For First Half Of 2025 Phillips is among those expected to leave, though the consultation process remains ongoing. His anticipated exit has sparked concern internally about Good Morning Britain's on-air diversity. As part of the changes, sources raised questions about the amount of work available to freelance newsreaders Sean Fletcher and Marverine Cole, but ITV has now guaranteed that there will be presenting opportunities for them next year. Fletcher has been part of GMB's line-up since the show launched in 2014. ITV's position is that GMB is committed to on-screen diversity and that the job cuts will not result in the show becoming dominated by white presenters. The show's lead hosts include Susanna Reid and Ed Balls. Phillips joined GMB from Comcast-owned Sky News in February 2021, and he has been central to coverage of racial unrest in the U.S. and UK. The Royal Television Society award-winning journalist was close to gunfire in Minneapolis when reporting on the protests that followed the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright by police officer Kim Potter. Phillips spoke about suffering a racist attack in London in 2023, while more recently, he was hit by a rubber bullet during his reporting on the June protests in Los Angeles. ITV is closing GMB's office in the U.S. as it moves the show under the control of ITN, the independent production company that makes ITV News. From the start of next year, GMB will be produced by a dedicated team at ITV News and will be extended by 30 minutes during the weeks Lorraine is off air. GMB is expected to tap into ITV News' resources in the U.S., where journalists such as Dan Rivers are stationed. A source familiar with the changes said staff were 'pissed off' about Phillips' exit. Another person said there had been a mood change in TV amid the rise of populism, arguing that there is 'less pressure [on ITV] to be seen to be doing the right thing' on diversity. An ITV spokesperson said: 'In 2026, Good Morning Britain will continue to have the familiar line-up of presenters that we know viewers love. ITV is fully committed to our diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, and the representation on our shows will remain a priority.' Deadline understands that Adil Ray will remain part of GMB's on-air team, despite The Daily Mail reporting that he was facing the axe. Ranvir Singh will also continue to appear on the show. Daniel Robinson was appointed as GMB's new editor earlier this month. Having served as deputy editor for seven years, he succeeds Neil Thompson, who is moving into the role of commissioning editor, breakfast news. Kelly Clarkson's Next Act? Why a Major Career Shift Might Be on the Horizon

Kelly Clarkson celebrated 1,000 episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show this spring, but the huge milestone didn't go down exactly the way she planned. With ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's reported health issues, Clarkson missed a series of shows, utilizing guest hosts to fill in . As a single mom with two children to raise, daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remington, 9, the 43-year-old pop star is reportedly reassessing her priorities. The 'demanding' daytime TV schedule is something she may want to put behind her. More from SheKnows Kelly Clarkson Reportedly 'Lost the Respect' of Her Staff With Her Latest Career Move 'She's thinking that she might need a shift next year when her contract is up,' a source told People. 'She still has time to figure out what's best for her career and family. She was never one to rush into things.' Her passion is music, and that's where she would love to keep her focus despite the recent postponement of her Las Vegas residency due to laryngitis. 'She very much loves music, though, and would love to create new music,' the insider added. Clarkson's pending decision has reportedly left her staff 'stressed' over the possibility that they might lose their jobs after the 2025-26 television season. 'Not feeling too stable,' a crew member told the Daily Mail. 'She could bolt at any time. Where does that leave me?' At a May 9 Atlantic City concert, Clarkson hinted that juggling multiple jobs was hard. 'We haven't done a show in a while, y'all, 'because I have a talk show,' she told the New Jersey audience, via Page Six. 'It's like a whole other job. We are bummed 'because we love doing shows, and it's hard to fit it in, so it's cool when it does work out with the schedule, and it's cool to get to see your faces and feed off y'all.' The decision lies in Clarkson's hands as she tests the musical waters again with her residency and spends more time with her kids over the summer. The future daytime landscape may look much different if Clarkson exits the building. Before you go, click to see 19 facts about Kelly Clarkson you didn't already know.
