Man jailed over dog theft hammer attack on woman in Aspley

Anyone who's ever had a baby anything, whether human or pet, knows the importance of a solid nap to circumvent any attitude problems later on. Never wake a sleeping baby — those are the rules! As it turns out, it's true even with dogs. As the middle child, Golden Retriever Rocco's role in the family is a big one, while the newcomer puppy is still learning the ropes. Sometimes that means navigating a sticky situation, like nabbing his stuffie out from under her, but no worries — he knows what he's doing! Joining a family with an already established dog hierarchy means little Bernese Mountain Dog, Binky, has to abide by the unspoken understanding that Rocco and older brother Fred have in place. Food, beds, Mom's attention, and even stuffies are included! Rocco does a stellar job pawing his favorite toy from the sleeping pup, only barely waking her, and that's quite the feat. Just like a fun game of Jenga, these are trademark moves many moms like me know and have perfected over the years, as if we're all skilled in ninja-ing. To wake the sleeping baby is basically cursing the rest of the day, so no thank new addition to the (now) trio is cute as can be. Binky may still have a lot of learning to do, which is why those naps are important, but for now, Rocco is slowly warming up to the idea of a sister. He made her work for his acceptance at first, but earning it is part of the hierarchy and a rite of passage. For joining the family only recently, I'd say Binky and Rocco are making a lot of progress! Sure, Fred isn't quite on board just yet, but as the eldest and a senior, he has the right to remain reserved. Being a big brother to such an adorable little sis is a huge job for Rocco, but he's doing such a great job. Just knowing he'd rather gently MacGyver his toy from her grasp instead of waking her proves how much he cares. Dognapping duo snatch 2 French bulldogs from NYC home during string of violent heists: cops
A brazen pair of dognappers stole two French bulldogs from a Queens home during a string of heists over the weekend, cops said. The thieves made their way inside the Long Island City apartment at Crane Street and Jackson Avenue around 10 p.m. Saturday and swooped up the pair of pooches – worth $1,700 – plus a large stash of clothing, authorities said. The victim, who was not home at the time, said he had locked the door to his apartment, and when he came home, reviewed security footage that showed the pup poachers raiding the place, sources said. The resident did not know the suspects, and it is unclear how they got inside, according to the sources. About three hours earlier, the same pair – riding in a white car – allegedly pulled up to another 31-year-old man at Crane Street, cops said. One flashed a gun and the other punched and kicked the victim, before grabbing his iPhone and house keys, authorities said. The suspects fled in the same car and the victim refused medical treatment, cops said. In the earliest stick-up, around 3:20 p.m. the same day, the brutes – wearing black masks – pulled up to a 27-year-old bike-riding man in the white car, according to cops and startling surveillance video. One of them whipped out a gun, while the other pulled him into a car and punched him – before they grabbed the victim's iPhone and $800, police said. They fled in their getaway ride and the injured victim went to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital on his own, authorities said. One of the alleged suspects is described as a man with a light complexion, between 20 and 25 years old, standing about 5-foot-8 and weighing about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a Bulls cap and black sweater. The other suspect, who had a dark complexion, is believed to be about the same age, standing around 6 feet tall and weighing around 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray baseball cap and gray sweater. The dog mom believes she caught the person who took her beloved pet on camera. JUNIATA - A woman in Juniata says her dog was swiped out of her front yard last month and she hasn't seen the dog since. She says she believes she caught the person who took her dog on camera and she is desperate to be reunited with her pup. What they're saying "I feel helpless. I feel helpless," Jeannette Ali, Princesa's owner, remarked. Heartbroken and helpless with her two-year-old Maltese Bichon Frise mix dog, Princesa, was dog-napped right out of her front yard. It was 8:45 Sunday morning, on April 27th, when Ali noticed Princesa was not with her other dogs. "I started panicking. I saw my neighbor come out and asked did she see the dog? I started running," Ali explained. "I went around the alley, just in case she climbed up and out. I went up the alley, into the other street. I walked that way, I walked this way. I was calling, 'Princesa!' Screaming across the street and nowhere. Nowhere to be found." She continued, "I'm like, 'Where did she go?' She can't run away, she can't get out. Nobody would have taken her. Nobody would do that." Caught on camera But, Jeanette soon found out somebody would do that and somebody did take her. The next-door neighbor's surveillance captured a woman reach over the fence and pick up Princesa and walk away with her. "The lady came back on the camera and she was walking with my dog. She's walking away, that way, going north with my dog," Ali said. "She's probably around her 30s." Jeannette filed a police report and gave a detective the video and lots of pictures of Princesa, then immediately made a flyer to put up throughout the neighborhood. She also posted on every neighborhood Facebook page, but no Princesa. No tips, no leads, so far, after 12 days. Big picture view "I just want my dog back. I don't wanna press charges or anything. Just bring my dog back. Out in my yard – I want my dog back. I want my baby back. That's my princess," Ali commented. "She is my baby, I miss her so much." Princesa's other best friend, who was raised with her since puppies in the same litter, also isn't the same since Princesa vanished. "A dog is your companion, your emotional support," Ali said. "It's like another child that needs you and you need them. You need their company and their love. They have unconditional love and to take that away from someone is very cruel."
