Lions claw Sharks in Currie Cup opener
The Lions kept hurting the Sharks by farming the left flank before the break. Maxwane plucked the ball effortlessly out of the air from a cross kick to score his first try, while his second was far more straight forward benefiting from an overlap. The Sharks only made it onto the scoreboard in the 68th minute and only through a sloppy error from the hosts. Replacement flyhalf Kade Wolhuter botched his attempt to collect the ball close to his try-line, though he might have been put off by Lombard who also tried to prevent Phiko Sobahle from scoring. The Lions, however, quickly reminded that they are the dominant force when they again found the Sharks' wanting down the left. This time, Davids, running down that flank had two inside runners to pick from with his final pass and he sought and found Jonker that stunningly underlined the Lions' superiority on the day. Scorers Lions (24) 46 — Tries: Jarod Cairns, Rabz Maxwane (2), a penalty try, Angelo Davids, Rynhardt Jonker, Layton Horn. Conversions: Lubabalo Dobela (3). Penalty: Dobela. Sharks (0) 5 — Try: Phiko Sobahle.

Trump is off to a good start with an AI action plan
The most important question for the United States regarding artificial intelligence right now is not how it will be used, or even how it will affect the economy and culture. It is whether the U.S. will maintain AI dominance. The race to own the technology of the future is a race we must not lose, because if superintelligence really is possible, there might be no prize for second place.

Amazon faces UK lawsuits worth up to $5.4 billion from retailers, consumers
LONDON (Reuters) -Amazon faces two mass lawsuits from retailers and consumers worth up to 4 billion pounds ($5.4 billion) for allegedly abusing its dominant position, after a London tribunal on Thursday certified the cases could proceed. Andreas Stephan, a competition law academic, is bringing one of the cases on behalf of over 200,000 third-party retailers, worth up to 2.7 billion pounds. His lawyers allege that Amazon manipulates the "Buy Box" feature on its website to its own advantage and favours products that use Amazon's own logistics centres and delivery network. Consumer advocate Robert Hammond is separately bringing a case valued at up to 1.3 billion pounds on behalf of millions of Amazon customers for similar alleged abuses of dominance. Amazon argued that the Competition Appeal Tribunal should certify the cases to proceed, an early step in the proceedings, including because the economic methodology for proving the cases was flawed. But the tribunal certified both cases on an opt-out basis, meaning members of the claimant class will be part of the case unless they decide otherwise. An Amazon spokesperson said: "These claims are without merit and we're confident that will become clear through the legal process. "Amazon has always focused on supporting the 100,000 businesses that sell their products on our UK store, and more than half of all physical product sales on our UK store are from independent selling partners." Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb out to remind the NFL of his dominance
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is considered among the top wide receivers in the NFL but after what could be considered a down season for his standard last year, he's ready to get back to dominance. Limited to just 15 games in the 2024 season, Lamb finished the year with 101 receptions, 1,194 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns, a big decrease from the previous year. In 2023, Lamb had the best season of his career, grabbing 135 receptions, 1,749 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the league's best at his position. While he was caught up in a contract controversy during training camp last season, Lamb enters this year with a set contract and the same can be said for his quarterback Dak Prescott, and the veteran receiver believes there will be a big payoff this season. Speaking to the media after training camp practice this week, Lamb told the team website that he is prepared to show that he's one of the league's most dominant receivers. "I feel like the league knows what happens when I'm healthy and I have Dak for a whole season," Lamb told "But if you don't, I will happily show you what it's going to be like this year. Honestly, I'm a dominant receiver. I don't like to speak highly of myself, but I can't wait to show you guys." Coming in with no contract concerns and a clean bill of health, Lamb's confidence is apparent as he prepares for the 2025 season. He'll have plenty of chemistry with Prescott, but they'll work under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer who is in first season with the team.
