South African actor Wiseman Sithole died on Sunday night at the age of 51. ERM Stars confirmed his death in a statement. 'It is with the greatest sadness that we share the shattering news of Wiseman Sithole's sudden passing. 'We are honoured to have worked alongside this legend of an actor. He touched many lives as a friend, relative, and to his audience on screen. We will miss you so much, Wiseman!' The Cape Town actor is well-known for his role in drama series 'Shooting Stars', SABC2's '90 Plein Street' and 'Die Sentrum, and in Showmax's 'Catch Me a Killer'. According to the statement, Sithole had an upcoming performance at the 2025 Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees taking place in October, which he had been photographed for.

Sbonakaliso Mazibuko to give aspiring actors a shot at stardom
Smoke & Mirrors actor Sbonakaliso Mazibuko has started an acting school. Sbonakaliso, known for his roles on Amalanga Awafani, Uzalo and Durban Gen, has opened the Shogazi Academy in Durban to mentor aspiring actors. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the 40-year-old said he is offering a free acting course with a level five certificate upon successful completion, focusing on Durban-based aspiring actors. 'The programme started with online auditions in June and aims to mentor 15 young talents over 11 months. The programme, named Durban Ten Actors in a previous initiative, intends to give young actors an opportunity to act in a stage play at the Stable Theatre in Durban, potentially exposing them to casting agencies and production houses,' he said. 'After some time, the aspiring actors will receive their monthly stipend. I'm in the final stage to conclude with the funders on how we'll operate in this academy. I'm excited about this initiative, as someone elsewhere played a huge role in the person I am today.' The Shogazi Academy mentorship includes online auditions. Sbonakaliso sees this as a way to give back to the community and believes acting talents need to be discovered and nurtured.

'There were times when, as an unemployed man, I couldn't even afford an Uber. Sometimes, I didn't have food to eat.' The actor, who also portrayed Musa on Rhythm City, revealed how he struggled to adjust from being a provider to a dependant. 'Coming from a position where I could provide for my family, to suddenly relying on others was a bitter pill to swallow. I know this is a reality for many people, but this is my story,' he shared. Recently we've seen a number of actors who have faced financial difficulties with some resorting to asking for donations.
