Xbox ROG Ally handheld prices could be as high as £800 claims leaker
Microsoft allegedly has a release date in mind for its Xbox handhelds, with pre-orders starting very soon. During its Xbox games showcase earlier this month, Microsoft admitted that the long-rumoured Xbox handheld from Asus was real, revealing two models dubbed the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X. The announcement was brief though, and omitted two key details: a precise launch date, beyond a Christmas 2025 window, and how much the two models will cost. A recent rumour purports to know the answer to both questions, but a separate report claims that while the release date is accurate, the price is still subject to change. The original rumour comes from eXtas1s, who frequently leaks details surrounding Xbox Game Pass. In a YouTube video shared over the weekend, he said the handhelds are aiming for an October 2025 launch and suggested the standard model will cost $499 and the more powerful Ally X model could cost $799. These are exactly how much Asus' own ROG Ally and ROG Ally X handhelds cost in the US, so it's reasonable to assume their UK prices – £599 and £799 respectively – would also match. This was already a safe assumption since making the Xbox handhelds cheaper would risk undercutting the Asus models. Why buy one of those when the Xbox models are near enough identical and cost less? However, according to Windows Central's Jez Corden, Microsoft hasn't settled on any exact pricing, even though Corden's sources also point to an October launch. The obvious explanation is that this is due to the uncertainty of US president Donald Trump's tariffs, which have already had a significant impact on the video game scene and led to Sony and Microsoft bumping up prices for their hardware. More Trending Corden's report states that Asus has manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, China, Mexico, and Czechia; all of which Trump has imposed tariffs on to varying degrees. On its own, this essentially makes importing the Xbox handhelds into the US more expensive, but it doesn't help that the rules have kept changing over the past couple of months. No doubt this has made Microsoft wary about committing to a price, lest a sudden adjustment force them to increase it, which would only tick customers off and potentially lead to reduced sales. If Microsoft is indeed aiming for an October launch, though, then it doesn't have much longer to make a decision since pre-orders are expected to go live in the coming months, with eXtas1s alleging they'll begin in August. Microsoft may launch ROG Xbox Ally handheld consoles in October with steep prices
Microsoft is reportedly preparing to launch two new handheld gaming consoles under its partnership with Asus, which aims to expand the Xbox experience into the portable gaming market. While the official details remain limited, a new report has suggested a possible release timeline and pricing for the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally series. Let's have a closer look at what's coming. Earlier this year, Microsoft confirmed a collaboration with Asus to develop a line of Xbox-compatible handheld devices. The result is expected to be two models: the ROG Xbox Ally and the more advanced ROG Xbox Ally X. These devices are expected to function like portable PCs, equipped with a custom Xbox operating system. They will allow access not only to Xbox Game Pass and Xbox titles but also to popular PC gaming libraries such as Steam and Epic Games. According to the report, the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X are set to launch in October 2025, with pre-orders likely to begin in August of the same year. Based on current currency conversion estimates, the standard Ally model could cost about £510 in the UK or around $700 in the US. The Ally X, being the higher-end variant, could reach approximately 760 euros in the UK or over $1,000 in the US. For example, the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently available for just under 400 euros, and Valve's Steam Deck can be purchased starting at around 349 euros. Although the insights come from sources that have been accurate in the past, it has not yet been confirmed either by Microsoft or ASUS. Until an official announcement is made, treat these details with caution.

EA Looking to Shut Down Long-Running Studio
It seems isn't done closing down some of its studios. A new report suggests the long-running racing developer may be next on the chopping block. Video game insider eXtas1s recently claimed the developer of games like Grid, Colin McRae Rally, Dirt, and most recently F1 25, will shut its doors. Those impacted will be put on the next F1 game or a new Need for Speed game currently in development. Additionally, the insider learned that there are about 400 'more' layoffs at EA. 'The cancellation of Black Panther will NOT be the only thing,' said eXtas1s. 'I have been able to learn that there are about 400 more layoffs coming up at EA, a total CLOSURE of the main headquarters of Codemasters and that these developers will be integrated into EA Sp (F1) and a new Need For Speed that is already in development.' EA recently closed Cliffhanger Games and cancelled its Black Panther game. According to an email from EA Entertainment president Laura Miele, this decision was to 'sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities.' 'These decisions are hard,' Miele wrote. 'They affect people we've worked with, learned from, and shared real moments with. We're doing everything we can to support them — including finding opportunities within EA, where we've had success helping people land in new roles.' The status of Codemasters has been up in the air since EA paused development on future World Rally Championship titles. Around that announcement, the official Codemasters X account was pulled. While all signs are pointing to Codemasters getting shut down, EA has yet to officially confirm the closure. Tony Hawk 3+4 Will Be Shadow Dropped Soon
Rumor has it that is indeed in the works, and it'll be shadow dropped very, very soon. The claim follows comments made by professional skateboarder Tyshawn Jones, who recently said that he's in the 'new Tony Hawk remaster that's about to come out.' Following Jones' viral comments in the Breakfast Club podcast, known leaker eXtas1s claimed Pro Skater 3 and 4 remasters will be shadow dropped for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC during an Xbox Games Showcase scheduled to take place in June 2025. EXtas1s didn't mention last-gen platforms, so those who enjoyed the 1+2 remasters on the PS4 might have to make the jump to current-gen, if they haven't already. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 originally released in 2001 and 2002, respectively. Vicarious Visions, who worked on the 1+2 remaster, co-developed the original games. Activision, which is now part of Microsoft, continues to own the IP. As usual, take all rumors with a grain of salt until official confirmation. However, given that Jones outright mentioned being in a new Tony Hawk remaster, we think this rumor is at least partially true. One ResetEra user added weight to the rumor, revealing that their friend pitched an ad for the game that was subsequently turned down.
