What if it's not just the weather, the food, or the fans that keep bringing MINNIE of the K-pop girl group i-dle back to Malaysia… what if it's a wholesome, crunchy snack made from brown, red, and black rice? This past weekend, things got super loud at 1 Utama's Oval Concourse when ecoBrown's launched the latest flavour in their Brice Flavoured Wholegrain Rice Puff snack line, Himalayan Salt . To mark the occasion, they brought in none other than MINNIE herself, turning a product launch into a full-blown fan gathering. Crowds queued from as early as 7am, waving lightsticks, holding handmade banners (some even in Thai and Korean), and chanting her name across four levels of the mall. MINNIE, clearly moved by the love, said, 'I'm so surprised… some fans even came straight from the airport to here! I really appreciate your love.' She opened the event with a cheerful, 'Saya sayang semua! Ayang angat!' and the crowd just melted. Brice X MINNIE: A Match Made in Snack Heaven If you've been anywhere near the healthy snack aisle lately, you've probably seen Brice — the guilt-free, baked rice snack that's won over taste buds with flavours like Spicy Cheese, Seaweed, and Truffle. More than that, she said the snacks were about creating 'special moments for friends, loved ones, and loyal customers.' 'Snack Brice While Listening To My Album' The launch wasn't just about the product, it was a mini showcase too! MINNIE sang a snippet of her solo track Valentine's Dream, busted out a few dance moves, and even teased fans with this line: 'Snack Brice while listening to my album.' (Marketing queen behaviour 💅) She also gave a cheeky suggestion for Brice's next line of new flavours 'Som tam? Durian? Let's go for durian!' Honestly? We'd snack on that. Fans didn't leave empty-handed either, as people were grabbing baskets of Brice, snapping pics at activity booths, and soaking up every second of the K-pop chaos. Will MINNIE Be Back? All signs point to yes! MINNIE spoke fondly of Malaysia, saying the weather reminds her of home and that the iconic 'Malaysia Truly Asia' jingle has 'stick in my head,' since she was a child, she laughed. 'I'd love to come to Malaysia more often. Please wait for me and i-dle. Hopefully next year. Can you wait for us?' —- MINNIE. She also added, 'I wanna go visit Kota Kinabalu,' which sent Sabahan fans into a frenzy. 'The photos look so good — the sea looks clear, peaceful. I really want to go someday,' she said, adding that she hopes to visit Malaysia more often. So… could Brice be the real reason she keeps coming back? I-DLE's MINNIE To Make Special Appearance In KL This July
Although she has admitted she's not the best at replying to messages, I-DLE (아이들) member MINNIE (민니/มินนี่) still made sure to answer fans' calls for her to visit. The 'Queen Card' singer has now been confirmed to make a special appearance in Kuala Lumpur next month! Following the success of the recent BRICE Truffle launch event featuring 4 members of TREASURE, ecoBrown teased fans with the promise of another K-pop idol visiting Malaysia for an upcoming event. From the silhouette photo posted online, many were quick to correctly guess that the mystery idol was none other than MINNIE of I-DLE. Yesterday (Thursday, 5th June), ecoBrown officially announced that MINNIE will be making a special appearance in Kuala Lumpur soon. Although further details have yet to be revealed, it's reasonable to assume that the 'BRICE with MINNIE' event will follow a similar format to the previous one with TREASURE, where fans had the opportunity to meet and take photos with the artists. 'Something very special is in the works for our fans and customers 💫. We will be rewarding fans with unforgettable moments with the idol, up close and personal 💕,' the brand captioned the post on Instagram. Unlike the previous event, the upcoming appearance by the I-DLE member will take place over the weekend, on Saturday, 12th July 2025. The time and venue are expected to be announced at a later date. That's not all—MINNIE is also set to make an additional appearance for another brand, Nuuna Malaysia. This event is expected to be a more intimate fan meet, similar in style to TREASURE's recent one in KL. According to the promotional poster, the session will also take place on the same day at 5pm, with the venue yet to be revealed. Are you excited to see the idol live in person? TREASURE Fans Upset Over Alleged Mistreatment By Group's Recent KL Event Organiser
Last Friday (30th May), fans were over the moon as TREASURE members Park Jeongwoo (박정우), Doyoung (도영), Choi Hyunsuk (최현석), and Haruto (하루토/ハルト) made a special appearance at Sunway Pyramid for ecoBrown's BRICE with TREASURE event. Some lucky fans even managed to greet the idols at KLIA upon their arrival, on the same day EXO's Suho landed in Malaysia. Although the event itself appeared to be a success, things seemingly didn't go as smoothly when it came to managing the brand's contest winners, who were meant to meet the idols on stage. Here's what happened: On Wednesday (4th June), a fan took to Twitter to share their experience as one of the winners of ecoBrown's contest to meet TREASURE during the brand's recent BRICE Malaysia with TREASURE event. The user detailed the agreement they were required to sign and expressed frustration over several rules that, in their view, did not make sense. According to the screenshots of the guidelines shared, the organisers requested that fans refrain from taking photos or videos throughout the event, despite it being held in a public space. The user claimed that the brand had initially posted the same guidelines on social media, but later changed the caption to specify that the rule applied only to contest winners. This led to confusion, as the winners were positioned closer to the boy group and understandably had more opportunities to capture content. As if that weren't enough, the winners were reportedly not provided with chairs while waiting for the group photo session with the idols onstage. This detail can be verified, as members of the media, including Hype Malaysia, were seen standing beside the winners in the designated waiting zone. Another fan also shared their conversation with ecoBrown on Instagram, in which the brand explained that they had removed criticisms and complaints from their social media to avoid the risk of being blacklisted by K-artists for future events. The company further clarified that they were required to strictly enforce the rules and agreements set by TREASURE's management in order to ensure the artists' safety. The same day that the IG conversation circulated, BRICE Malaysia issued a statement to reiterate the explanation they had given to the user on the social media platform. However, the brand has yet to address the complaints about the day of the event itself and the alleged mistreatment towards the winners. Let's hope the next event featuring a K-pop idol will be a lot better.
