Bentley's New V-8 SUV is the Best Bentayga Yet
Some people get hung up counting cylinders. They believe the more a car has, the better it is. I'm not one of those people. Instead, steering, braking and balance—the management of the marriage between power and torque—matter far more when it comes to driving enjoyment. Engine size doesn't necessarily indicate driving character. The magic is in the transitions.

‘Big Facts:' Chevy Driver Says Oil Changes Every 3,000 Miles Are Why He Hit 200,000 Miles. Should You Ignore Dealers' Advice?
The owner of a Chevy doesn't care what the experts say. He's sticking with the old 3,000-mile rule. He credits this with his Chevy making it past 200,000 miles. Changing your motor oil is car maintenance 101, but people have different takes on how often cars need their oil changed. The old rule of thumb was that it needs to be changed every 3,000 miles. Today, it's more commonly recommended to wait up to several thousand miles more between oil changes. Get the best news, reviews, columns, and more delivered straight to your inbox, daily. back Sign up For more information, read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use . In a two-part series, firefighter Matt Eason (@matteason) calls out people who wait until their oil change light comes on or change their oil every 5,000-10,000 miles. 'I been told it's a waste of time to change my oil at every 3,000 miles,' Eason says. 'Y'all tell me if it's a waste of time.' He trains the camera on the dashboard, showing his Chevy has 201,783 miles in one of the posts. 'That's what 3,000-mile oil changes will do for you,' Eason says. Eason notes that he bought the vehicle with 40,000 miles on it. In a comment on one of his posts, he claims that the vehicle is 'like new under the hood and underneath and don't use a drop.' 'Keep doing your one-year oil changes and wonder why your motor fails,' he says. His advice is stirring up some debate in the comments. What Does Motor Oil Do? Motor oil helps keep your engine running efficiently by acting as a lubricant between the moving parts to prevent premature or unnecessary wear and tear. It also helps keep the engine cool and clean. Over time that oil gets worn out and degraded from the heat and pressure it's exposed to. It also gets gunked up with particles. That's why it needs to be changed at regular intervals. How Often Do You Need to Change Your Oil? Trending Now 'He Was Smiling Through the Pain:' Woman Gets Mazda Loaner. Then She Tells Husband She Bought It to See His Reaction 'Here's What I Thought I Was Booking:' Woman Books Trip at RV Park. Then They Arrive While many cars have some form of notification that lets you know when it's time for an oil change, there are other metrics you can go off to ensure you're not waiting until your car is in dire need of new oil to get it serviced. In older models, those notifications are often based on mileage alone. Newer ones have sensors that take into account other metrics, such as engine revolutions, temperature, and driving time. Because time between changes, driving style, and conditions also affect the condition of oil, sometimes you may need to change it more or less frequently. The rule used to be that you should get your oil changed every 3,000 miles without fail. But as the industry has made advancements in both engines and oil blends, that number has moved to every 7,500 to 10,000 miles or every six to 12 months, according to Consumer Reports . AAA , on the other hand, recommends changing oil every 5,000 to 7,500 miles for most engines. It's generally accepted that changing your car's oil too often can't hurt it; it'll just cost more. Not changing it often enough, on the other hand, can cause long-term or more severe issues. Overheating, increased wear and tear, and even engine failure are all possible effects of not changing your oil frequently enough. Consult your car's manual or mechanic for advice that's specific to your vehicle. Controversy in the Comments Some people were impressed. 'I didn't see it at first, but 40+psi at operating temp with 201k is CRAZY!' one exclaimed. According to Rymax Lubricants , oil pressure should range between 25 and 65 pounds per square inch (psi). Not everyone agrees with Eason's assertion that more frequent oil changes have kept his Chevy running smoothly, however. One person said that it's not necessarily a flex to have a car with 200,000 miles, as most modern engines should be able to reach this milestone. 'My 2017 Ford Explorer just hit 200k. I change the oil at 10k,' another wrote. A third said, 'You don't need to change every 3k.' Eason replied, 'Well I do and it works with all my vehicles so I'll keep doing it. I have trust issues with oil lol.' Motor1 reached out to Eason for comment via TikTok direct message and comment. We'll be sure to update this if he responds. 4 common mistakes you're making with your car in a heatwave
With temperatures set to soar this weekend, many Brits will already be thinking about their weekend getaways and how they'll cope in the sweltering weather. Whether it's visiting family and friends, or heading to the beach, temperatures of up to 33C are expected to see families hitting the road - bringing a host of other factors for drivers to consider before they get behind the wheel. Here, Yahoo News UK rounds up some of the top mistakes motorists could make: As temperatures rise outside, so does the temperature inside your car - including its engine. Engine oil helps keep your engine at a correct temperature and prevent damage or overheating. To check your oil levels, make sure your engine is cool enough by leaving it for at least a few hours after it was last driven - if you don't, you risk being burned by hot oil. Your car's coolant system also helps keep everything in check during warm weather. As with engine oil, make sure your car is cool before checking levels - there should be markings on the side of the coolant bottle to let you know when it needs topping up. You should also keep an eye on your car's temperature warning light. If it lights up while driving you should pull over as soon as it's safe to do so and lift the bonnet to cool the engine down to avoid potential damage. Changes in temperature can cause significant variations in tyre pressure, especially over the British spring and summer and all the varied weather it can bring. Higher temperatures increase tyre pressure, potentially leaving them over-inflated, which can in turn cause excess wear and tear and even affect braking. Fortunately, tyre pressure can be easily checked at most petrol stations and tyre shops. It's also a good idea to keep an eye on your tread depths - the legal minimum is 1.5 millimetres. Also, loading up for everything you need for a day at the beach can put extra strain on your tyres, so it's helpful to keep a spare or a puncture repair kit. Decreasing the amount of light entering your car on hot days can make a huge difference not just for your driving comfort (and that of your passengers), but also for making sure you are driving safely. Sun visors for the driver's and front passenger's seats can reduce the amount of light entering your field of vision, especially on sunny days, which in turn help your eyes adjust more quickly when you enter a patch of shade or an indoor area, such as a multi-storey car park. Semi-transparent covers can also be bought to cover rear passenger windows, if needed. When you're not driving, a windscreen shade can also significantly decrease the amount your car heats while when you're not in it. It is not illegal to drive in the UK without shoes, but you might want to think carefully before you get behind the wheel without any. According to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the organisation which sets the standards for British driving tests, the most important factor is to be in control of your vehicle - something you may struggle with without shoes or in summer footwear, such as flip flops. While there are not any types of shoe which are illegal to drive in, anything which affects your ability to control a car could mean you are driving without sufficient care, which can in turn result in fines or other penalties. The AA recommends soft shoes with thin soles and good grip, such as trainers, loafers and boat shoes. Just like anything else left in your car on a hot day, child seats and boosters can heat up pretty quickly when left in the sun. Depending on the design of a car seat, dark plastic components can potentially get very hot, leaving children at risk of burns. A 2012 report in the Pediatrics & Child Health medical journal revealed the case of an 11-month-old who was taken to hospital with an unexplained burn on his leg which was later found to have been caused by an overheated car seat. Always check the temperature across the whole of a car seat before strapping your child in and if possible leave it covered while not in use.

'They Can't Filter It Out All the Way:' Walmart Service Tech Changes Customer's Oil. Then She Puts In Recycled Oil
A Walmart service tech just made a bold claim about the company's auto care centers: They allegedly use recycled oil, not fresh oil, during customer oil changes. Trish (@pyt21_) didn't explicitly say how she knows this, though she implied she used to work there. In a now-viral TikTok, she accused Walmart Auto Care Centers of what could amount to negligent car care. Get the best news, reviews, columns, and more delivered straight to your inbox, daily. back Sign up For more information, read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use . 'A PSA to drivers who get their oil changed at Walmart,' she begins, before adding that the workers there 'are reusing old oil.' 'Any oil that I take out of people's cars—that's what you're getting at Walmart,' Trish says. As of Monday, her video has racked up over 468,000 views. In a follow-up, Trish tries to back up her claims with receipts. Getting An Oil Change at Walmart's Auto Care Center According to Trish, even though Walmart might filter the used oil, that process doesn't remove everything. 'At the end of the day, they can't filter it out all the way,' she says. 'And you're still reusing someone's old oil.' That, she warns, could impact your car in the long run. Conventional oil is designed to last up to 7,500 miles —but with reused oil, she says, that number may drop closer to 1,500. So while Walmart might save you a few bucks, Trish argues it could cost you much more in engine damage. 'If you want to save $20 to [expletive] up your engine in the long run, that's on y'all,' she says. 'How you treat your car is how your car is going to treat you.' Where's the Proof? Trending Now 'Thought I Was Doing Him a Favor:' Woman Tries to Tow in Husband's Ram Bighorn. Then She Makes a Common Mistake 'I'm Absolutely Doing This:' Arizona Man Shares Little-Known Sunroof Trick to Stay Cool. Then He Slides It Open to Show Off In a second video, Trish points to online search results that show Walmart does accept used motor oil for recycling. She cites a website explaining that used oil can be re-refined into new oil, used as industrial fuel, or turned into raw materials for other products. 'Recycled used motor oil can be refined into new motor oil, used as a fuel source for certain furnaces or boilers, or used as raw materials in the petroleum industry,' she reads. Trish acknowledges that oil can be recycled, but remains skeptical that Walmart's recycled product is equal to fresh oil. But Is it Really That Bad? Not necessarily. Re-refined oil isn't just filtered—it's completely processed to remove contaminants and restore it to the same quality as new oil. Re-refined oils meet the same industry standards and can be used interchangeably with fresh motor oil. In fact, reusing oil is often better for the environment and conserves resources. The California Department of Toxic Substances Control reports , 'Used oil can be re-refined over and over again, it never wears out–it just gets dirty.' Do People Trust Walmart? Walmart doesn't specify on its website whether its oil is new or re-refined. Its site says it offers a variety of oils, including synthetic, high-mileage, and conventional. Some drivers, nevertheless, are going to steer clear of Walmart. In a popular subreddit thread , one commenter wrote, 'I wouldn't [expletive] in a Walmart, let alone let their employees touch my fucking cars.' 'I don't even go there for groceries,' another added. 'I would DIY before bringing it there,' a third chimed in. Others shared horror stories from personal experience—or from cars that came into their shops after a Walmart oil change. Their claims have more to do with the purported quality of the work than the oil itself. 'I work at a different shop, and we get cars coming in from Walmart and Jiffy Lube all the time,' one person said. 'The number that were underfilled, have loose drain bolts, stripped drain bolts, or missing oil caps is asinine.' 'One time, Walmart left a pair of pliers attached to the underside of my car, and they found themselves embedded in the brakes,' another recalled. Still, not everyone is convinced Walmart deserves the backlash. Some argue that oil changes are simple enough to trust even a discount chain. 'Changing the oil is one of the easiest things anyone can do on 99% of the cars on the road,' one Reddit user wrote. 'You will be fine.' A Walmart employee in the complaints department told Motor1 in a phone call Friday afternoon that the company doesn't have a media department or a corporate phone number for press. They also said that there is no manager of the company's Auto Care Centers who can speak on behalf of all Walmart locations and said that they would need the specific location where this allegedly occurred to provide additional information or comment. Walmart also didn't respond to an inquiry sent via the contact form on its website Monday morning. Motor1 has reached out to Trish via a TikTok comment. We'll be sure to update this if she responds.
