I spent day 1 of Wimbledon in the celeb VIP box with Jessica Alba, Chris O'Dowd & Sam Thompson – here's what you missed

WIMBLEDON line judges may have been replaced by AI for the first time in the tournament's 148-year history, but there's one thing that will never change. No matter whether its the hottest opening day on record, like yesterday, or even rainier than the wettest in 1906, the world's most famous faces won't be put off arriving in style to watch some top tier tennis. 9 9 9 9 Despite expense being no object for some of Wimbledon 's most prestigious guests, there are some hidden areas close to Centre Court that money-can't-buy. On day one of the competition, I found myself with a golden ticket into the extremely sought-after hydrangea building where stars enjoy a delicious lunch to set them up for an exciting day of tennis. It was there in evian 's Mountain of Youth VIP suite where famous faces including Jessica Alba, Chris O'Dowd, Frankie Bridge, Rachel Stevens, Rochelle and Marvin Humes, Sam Thompson and Jamie Campbell Bower were hosted by the official water of The Championships on day one. The spectacular invitation from the Wimbledon sponsor also guaranteed Centre Court tickets to see the likes of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz play. The VIP access ensures you dodge any queues and offers limitless champagne and Pimm's inside the suite, as well as afternoon tea and plenty of strawberries and cream. With temperatures topping 32.3C, stars cooled down in the air-conditioned suite as they made the most of the private balcony over-looking the outskirts of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. In between matches, celebs could take advantage of the pink-themed VIP area's ping pong table. There were also screens to watch the tennis from indoors so you didn't miss a moment of action. But of course, being out on court is the place to be - with stars themselves even becoming star-struck when they see the who's who in the Royal Box. A stone's throw from our fantastic seats were sport legends David Beckham and Gareth Southgate. Carlos Alcaraz claims he 'will do whatever she wants me to do' in revealing Emma Raducanu interview after Wimbledon win Fans were quick to spot Hollywood actress Jessica in the grounds as she enjoyed a day out at Wimbledon with her lookalike daughter Honor, 17. Donning a £65 Polo Ralph Lauren cap purchased by the on-site tennis shop, 43-year-old Jessica watched Alcaraz's five-set win over Fabio Fognini on centre court. "Had a blast at Wimbledon with my sweet girl," she posted from inside the evian suite. The space, inspired by evian 's Live Young philosophy, aims to inspire attendees to reduce plastic packaging waste at The Championships. There's a new refill and reuse initiative across the grounds, encouraging more than 500,000 guests to use evian's new recyclable bottle - designed specifically for Wimbledon 2025. Day two guests Daniel Ricciardo, Molly-Mae Hague, Clara Amfo, Mat Horne and Rafferty Law were spotted staying cool and hydrated in the summer heat by making the most of the official water of the championships, which is in its 17th year at Wimbledon. 9 9 9 9

Daylight robbery or reasonable? Wimbledon punters divided over price of Pimm's

Punters have been left divided over the price of Pimm's and other alcoholic beverages at Wimbledon. The All England Club opened its doors once again on Monday morning for the 138th edition of the tournament. Tickets are hard to come by and the cost of attending Wimbledon does not get much easier for fans once they have entered the iconic venue. A meal in one of the club's restaurants can set you back £100 or more, while the price of alcohol continues to be a subject of debate among tennis fans. Over half a million fans will attend this year's championships and many willchoose to watch the action, either on court or on the famous hill, with an alcoholic beverage. From a £2.75 soft drink to a £100 bottle of champagne, there is plenty on offer for thirsty guests. Pimm's has also been synonymous with Wimbledon and punters will have to pay over £12 for a cup or £36 for a jug. The price of pints has increased to £8.85 while Wimbledon's iconic strawberries have gone up in price for the first time since 2010, now costing £2.70. 'I'm of the opinion that it's a day out, it's a treat, and we don't know if we're ever going to do this again,' Phillip Wood, who bagged Court One tickets, told Metro. 'It is expensive but we're trying not to think about that. The Pimm's are expensive, you wouldn't pay that anywhere else.' evian Reusable bottle & All Day Refills, £5 Soft drinks (Coca-Cola, Sprite etc.), £2.75 Drought beer (pint), £8.85 Bottled beer (330ml), £7.80 Wine ranging from £6.60 (125ml glass) to £49.60 bottle Champagne ranging from £26.55 (20cl) to £96 bottle Pimm's, £12.25 Another fan said: 'I was at Glastonbury this weekend and it was cheaper at Glastonbury than it is here. So it is a little bit expensive. 'It's not outrageous. The Pimm's are expensive, that feels a little bit punchy to me. That feels like they're taking advantage of the experience a bit.' Shaun and Emily, who travelled from Grimsby and camped out overnight to get tickets, compared Wimbledon to 'being on holiday' and worrying less about prices. 'It's more expensive than I would like it to be but it's what I expected,' Shaun said. 'We didn't pay to camp so saved on a night in London there. That helps you stomach paying £10 for a pint.' Emily added: 'We said on the way in it's like being on holiday, we're here once probably and we're just going to forget about the price of things.' Scott, who travelled from Falkirk to attend day one of Wimbledon, felt the prices were 'okay' and said he was 'warned' over the costs ahead of his trip. 'It's my first time at Wimbledon but I wasn't surprised by the prices because I had been warned!' he said. 'The prices are okay, I think.' Another fan, also with Court One tickets, added: 'For the event it's maybe reasonable. It's Wimbledon so you kind of expect it. 'If I was just out in London I would be more surprised but you are coming to an event so you're more willing to pay it. But it is still a lot of money. 'I guess it depends where you're coming from. I've been in London for a few days so it seems fairly normal now but the Pimm's does seem excessive.' Over 30 tonnes of strawberries are eaten each during the two-week Wimbledon Championships, according to the Wimbledon website. More Trending 'The strawberries served at Wimbledon are a variety named 'Malling Centenary' and are produced by Hugh Lowe Farms, a family-run business located just 31 miles away from the Grounds,' a piece on Wimbledon's favourite fruit said. 'To ensure there are enough, 100,000 plants are planted in late March. Our world-famous berries are hand-picked and delivered to the All England Club each morning where they are inspected by our Food & Drink team to make sure only the best are served to our guests. 'We make sure that any strawberries not eaten during the fortnight aren't wasted. 'These are frozen and used to make the strawberry jam for the scones and Victoria sponge served in our Wingfield Café, which is open year round.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Emma Raducanu's Carlos Alcaraz comment sees her dubbed 'heartbreaker' by Wimbledon star Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz have been the subject of much speculation regarding their relationship after it was confirmed they would play mixed doubles together at Wimbledon A Wimbledon star has branded Emma Raducanu a "heartbreaker" amid romantic links to Carlos Alcaraz (Image: Max Cisotti/for evian ) Tennis ace Danielle Collins has lightly teased Emma Raducanu over her recent comments quashing romance rumours with fellow player Carlos Alcaraz. Both players are no strangers to media attention, but gossip has intensified after they confirmed they'll be teaming up in mixed doubles at the US Open later this year. Raducanu is currently preparing for her opening-round Wimbledon showdown against Welsh wildcard Mimi Xu. ‌ Nonetheless, the 2021 US Open winner fielded a question about her rumoured involvement with Alcaraz during a recent media appearance. Collins, who takes on Camila Osorio in her opening match at SW19, highlighted Raducanu's brisk reply online, responding with a humorous remark. ‌ While speaking to the press before the tournament, Raducanu was quizzed on whether there was any truth to the supposed romantic links with Alcaraz. This came after the pair were seen shooting a commercial together for Evian. "We're just good friends," Raducanu stated. After cutting the speculation short, the journalist who asked the question light-heartedly suggested the interview might as well end. "Way to wrap up," Raducanu chuckled. Collins, formerly ranked No. 7 in the world, couldn't help but weigh in. She responded to a clip of Raducanu's comments with a cheeky Instagram post, writing: "Brutal!! @emmaraducanu such a heartbreaker," alongside a laughing emoji. The Spanish prodigy, who recently clinched his fifth Grand Slam trophy at Roland Garros, expressed excitement about their collaboration in New York. "She's gonna be the boss," Alcaraz said. "Yeah, I've known Emma since a really long time ago, so we know each other. I have really good relationship with her. ‌ "So it's just gonna be interesting. You know, obviously both, you know, we are gonna enjoy, for sure. I will try, you know, to put my doubles skill on it. We will try to win. But obviously it's going to be really, really fun." However, she later explained the situation more clearly. ‌ She joked: "Gotta keep them on their toes! I mean, of course, I had to ask my team if they wanted me to play. But for me, when he asked me, I was going to say yes, I just had to kind of go through the formality of asking my coach, so I didn't just make the decision." Raducanu hopes that this doubles collaboration could help lead her to another Grand Slam crown at the venue where she first made headlines with her historic 2021 victory. The Brit spoke about the tricky match-up, having already practiced with the Swansea star on several occasions. "I think it's a very dangerous match, very difficult. Mimi is a really, really good player. I've practiced with her a few times," Raducanu explained. "She has a lot of weapons. She also moves really well. It's going to be a really different match. "For her, it's one where there's nothing to lose. I remember when I had my first Wimbledon here and I was 18. It's a great feeling. You just feel, like, completely fearless."
