Robin Propper Rangers transfer saga 'nearing its climax' as striker target sees big money move claim shot down
FC Twente want to re-sign the defender 12 months on from selling him to Gers FC Twente are reportedly poised to finalize Robin Propper's transfer return from Rangers. The Dutchman only joined Gers from the Eredivisie side for £.15million last summer and despite making 39 appearances in all competitions, Propper has failed to win over disgruntled supporters at Ibrox. Twente have been vocal in their desire to bring the 31-year-old back, who played 45 minutes in Russell Martin 's first game in charge in last weekend's 2-2 friendly draw with Club Brugge. Twente had hoped to get a deal done for Propper to join up with his teammates in their training camp in Austria but Dutch outlet Tubantia (via TwenteInsite) now report that the transfer saga is about to come to an end. The Arnhem-born defender will reportedly pen a three-year contract upon his return to the Enschede club. Elsewhere, Westerlo - now managed by ex Rangers assistant boss Issame Charai - have denied claims that Ibrox striker target Matija Frigan is about to land a big money move to England. Record Sport confirmed Gers interest in the Croatian frontman earlier this summer but also noted that Martin's side are likely to be blown out of the water by offers from elsewhere. One of the other clubs tracking Frigan is English Championship side Hull City who's new manager Sergej Jakirovic previously worked with the player at Rijeka in Croatia. Due to their precarious financial position, the Tigers have been hit with a transfer embargo that will prevent them from signing players until January 2027, but reports down south have suggested that the Tigers have exploited a loophole to agreed a £.7.7million to bring Frigan to the MKM Stadium. Westerlo have snapped up forward Nacho Ferri on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt but vice-president Hasan Cetinkaya insists the player isn't going anywhere until their valuation is met. Asked about how Ferri's arrival would affect Frigan's future, he told Gazet van Antwerpen: 'He wasn't brought in to fill the void in case Frigan leaves. These two players complement each other. "Last season, we played with [ex-Leicester, Newcastle and Sporting Lisbon giant Islam] Slimani and Frigan and it went well. "Nacho is tall and fast. He will be a big factor in [scaring] opposing defences." Boss Charai added: "For now, as a coach, I have three good strikers at my disposal. "Matija Frigan, Nacho Ferri, and don't forget Kyan Vaesen. This will help the club's ambition."

But he ultimately decided to plump for United. And the Red Devils believe James can eventually break into the side in the same way as Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.
