Ex-Steeler Minkah Fitzpatrick gets new jersey number ahead of Dolphins training camp

Fresh numbers 🔥 The more things change, the more they stay the same — and that's especially true for ex-Steelers FS Minkah Fitzpatrick's new jersey number with the Miami Dolphins. On Tuesday, the Dolphins took to social media to reveal what number Fitzpatrick and several other new players will wear — and the former Steeler will return to wearing No. 29 in 2025. Fitzpatrick wore No. 29 at Alabama and continued the trend after being drafted by the Dolphins in 2018 — before being traded to the Steelers just two games into his second season in the league. Pittsburgh's former safety was part of a blockbuster deal that saw the Steelers trade him and a late-round pick swap in exchange for All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith — two talented playmakers expected to play versatile roles this season. Steelers legend Ryan Clark says what everyone already knows about T.J. Watt's massive deal

T.J. Watt has made history with his three-year, $123 million contract extension with Pittsburgh — and one Steelers legend has weighed in on the blockbuster move. While some have scoffed at paying a soon-to-be 31-year-old defender an average salary of $41 million, ex-Steelers safety turned ESPN analyst Ryan Clark doesn't share that mindset, arguing Watt earned every penny of his massive payday. "You did what you were supposed to do, by giving T.J. Watt what he's earned, and what he has the potential to produce on the field for you," Clark said, via NFL Live on ESPN. "...Man, you had to do this. T.J. Watt earned this contract. You're taking care of all these people that aren't lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers. You're going to get this sort of production from T.J. Watt this year, next year, and the year after. As long as he's healthy and he's on the field, you know what he produces. You also know the way this equates to wins for this team." Clark hit the nail right on the head — because Watt's stats don't lie. In a defender's first eight seasons in the league, Watt ranks third with 108 sacks — just behind legends DeMarcus Ware and Reggie White. Despite his statistical success, Watt has yet to win a postseason game — a point doubters love to bring up. But that could change in 2025, as the Steelers boast a stacked roster following a flurry of high-profile signings and trades this offseason — and will look to make a deep playoff push. Ex-Steelers wide receiver announces retirement on Day 1 of training camp

In a shocking turn of events, a former Steelers wide receiver has announced his retirement from the NFL at age 30. On Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that ex-Steelers wideout Mike Williams, who signed with the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason, retired on Day 1 of training camp. "Sources: Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams' agent, Tory Dandy, informed the team last night that, after eight seasons, his client is retiring from the NFL," Schefter wrote on X. "Williams walks away from the game at age 30." Williams was traded from the Jets to the Steelers in November 2024, and despite showing promise in Pittsburgh's offense, he ultimately finished his Steel City tenure with just nine receptions, 132 receiving yards, and one touchdown in nine games. He was one of the most underrated 50/50 wide receivers in the league, and his surprising retirement leaves a solid final career stat line of 330 receptions, 5,104 receiving yards, and 32 touchdowns in 106 games. Steelers legend Troy Polamalu, Jalen Ramsey go viral in worlds collide video call

Steel sharpens steel — the perfect description for the viral virtual meeting of new Steelers CB Jalen Ramsey and Pittsburgh's legendary safety, Troy Polamalu. On Saturday afternoon, ex-Steelers safety turned ESPN analyst Ryan Clark posted a screenshot of a surprise video call between Ramsey and Polamalu on social media — captioning the moment: "Connecting the Greats!! One Steelers legend and the next!" The post garnered praise and excitement from Steelers fans on social media — and not long after, Ramsey would thank Clark in the comments of his Instagram post for orchestrating the call: "Man, I appreciated that big bro @realrclark … Much love! I can't wait to be a part of something special!" The video call wasn't just a symbolic passing of the torch — Ramsey is expected to make an immediate impact throughout the Steelers secondary. His versatility allows him to line up outside, in the slot, and even at safety — a position Polamalu knows all too well. After the Steelers traded All-Pro Minkah Fitzpatrick to acquire Ramsey and TE Jonnu Smith, Pittsburgh could lean heavily on Ramsey's ability to play deep — but signing a veteran free-agent safety isn't entirely out of the question.
