Nine-year-old girl undergoes TWO serious operations as teen charged with dangerous driving on dirt bike after alleged hit-and-run
Witnesses have described the moment a young girl's face was 'ripped up' after she was allegedly hit by a dirt bike as police charge a teenager following the incident. NSW Police were called to Haydon Park on Copperfield Drive in Rosemeadow, 56km southwest of Sydney, about 5.45pm on Thursday. Officers were told a man was allegedly riding an unregistered dirt bike across the sports field when he drove into a nine–year–old girl who was rolling in the grass. It is understood he fled the scene without offering any help. Paramedics treated the girl for facial injuries at the scene before she was taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition. She underwent emergency surgery that evening, the same night she was supposed to watch Disney on Ice with family. The young girl had to endure a second operation on Friday morning and plastic surgeons were brought in to assess if there was any permanent damage. Police then arrested an 18–year–old man on Friday at a home in Ambarvale about 7.15pm following inquiries about the incident. The teenager has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, causing serious injuries, and failing to stop and help after the crash. A dirt bike was also found by officers at the home and has been seized for forensic examination. Security footage, published by 7News, shows several trail bikes riding across the park pitches in the hour before the incident. Pamela Duarte, who witnessed the incident, said the child's face was 'all ripped up' as a result of what happened. 'She had been rolling down the grass and then a bike just came and rode straight over her and cleaned her up,' she said. People in the park worked to stem the bleeding before emergency services arrived, including Brittany Roussell–Rutter. 'What if she was by herself? She could have been dead,' she said. 'She wasn't moving, she wasn't breathing, and finally she started coming too.' The girl's mother was interstate at the time of the alleged hit-and-run but rushed home to be with her daughter. Paramedics have said the young girl's road to recovery will take a long time. The 18–year–old was refused bail and was due to face Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

Evangeline Lilly, 45, shares shocking photos of her facial injuries after horror fall at the beach
Evangeline Lilly has shared shocking photos of her facial injuries after suffering a horror fall at the beach. The Ant-Man star, 45, took to her Instagram page on Friday and posted a series of snaps looking bloodied and bruised. The star revealed that she had fainted at the beach and ended up falling face first into a boulder, which led to her being rushed to hospital. She penned: 'At the hospital, the nurses and doctor went straight into action, more determined to find the cause of my blackout than to stitch up the hole punctured into my face by the rock. I smiled wryly at them. '"You won't find anything." I said with a woozy voice...' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It comes after Evangeline, who shot to fame as Kate Austen in the ABC drama series Lost, announced she is retiring from acting after 20 years on screen. Last June, the Hollywood veteran remarked on Instagram about her departure from showbusiness. 'I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision,' wrote Evangeline. 'Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment.' Dharma is regarded in Hinduism as a cosmic law underlying right behavior and social order. She then added she may come back to acting, but not at the moment: 'I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM I AM HAPPY.' Prior to this, Evangeline said she wanted a standalone Marvel movie. The star was reprising her role as Hope van Dyne/ Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania when she said she plans to make it clear that she wants the character to be the subject of her own picture. Speaking to Variety at the world premiere of the film in Los Angeles in February 2023, Evangeline said: 'Well, I'm going to make a pitch that I think it might be time for Hope spin-off... for a Wasp standalone film. 'Do we agree? Anybody? Going once... going twice.' The actress has been in the MCU since the 2015 movie Ant-Man and feels established as a member of the superhero franchise. Evangeline said: 'When we first came into the universe, it was so established with Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, and all the original gangsters. And we were just like these new kids on the block who were trying to earn our stripes. 'And now all of a sudden we're in the centre at the launching point of Phase 5, and it feels really cool.' The actress previously revealed how she had plenty of input into the movie's script. She said: 'I have a lot of opinions and I'd love to share them and I'd love to give you my thoughts on all of this. 'And to do it with confidence and to do it with clarity, instead of, before I even speak, already... brushing my own ideas under the carpet, which is an old habit of mine. Like, 'Yeah, this probably isn't a very good idea, but...' or, 'You don't have to use this, I'm just going to tell you what it is.''
