‘Before I knew it, I was auditioning', says RTE Fair City star as she opens up on how hit soap changed her life
RTE Fair City star Ali Fox has opened up on her accidental casting in the show and how the hit soap has changed her life. The popular actress first joined the soap in the summer of 2023 and plays the beloved Babs Mullen on the long-running soap. She also opened up on the surprising story behind her casting on Fair City. She told RSVP: "One of the producers who was working on casting within Fair City was following me on 'This woman DM'ed me out of the blue and said, 'really enjoying your comedy, if we ever had a role come up that was suitable for you, would you be interested in coming in to audition for us?' She added: 'I thought, 'yeah, like, what have I got to lose here? I'm going to give this casting producer my email address and sure, if she has something suitable in the future, brilliant, she'll reach out to me. And if she doesn't, you know, it's okay.' 'So, I gave my email address and within a couple of months, I received an email from her. She said, 'I think I have something for you here. If you're interested, could you send your CV and your show reel onto me and we'll take it from there?' Which I did. 'Before I knew it, I was auditioning through self-tape for the show." He told The "Even if you do get away to that weekend wedding and someone else, like your neighbour or your auntie, helps out your mum, there's an emotional attachment and that's very difficult to get rid of. RTE Fair City viewers were all left saying the same thing after Mairead and Dean rekindled their romance. After a stressful shift, Doug admitted he was struggling with the added pressure of taking over the car sales. In an effort to relieve their pressure, Dolores tried to get Pete to return to the garage, but he refused, claiming he was still frustrated by Ray's controlling ways. Later, Doug urged Pete to come back to work, explaining that things weren't going well without him. But Ray remained stubborn when Dolores proposed a compromise to let Pete run the sales department. Following this, Dolores warned Ray that the current set-up in the garage was not sustainable. A frustrated Dolores told Pete that he has one final week to decide for certain if he will return to the garage.

Jess was thrown by Joan's frank reaction when she outted Melanie's cheating. Sash was relieved when Maxine committed to trying with Olivia. Mairead and Damien were stunned when Elaine announced she was moving back to Dublin. Mairead and Dean's guilt was intensified by Damien display of empathy and kindness towards Elaine. Dean and Mairead realised they couldn't outrun their feelings, but didn't know how or when they would be able to break it to Damien.

Gutted fans miss out on hit soap AGAIN tonight as RTE pull series from schedule and reveal replacement
RTE Fair City fans are set to be disappointed again for the second time in a week. Viewers will notice some differences to tonight's One's usual Tuesday line-up. 2 Fair City won't be on air tonight Credit: RTE 2 Fair City has been replaced by The End of the World with Beanz Credit: RTE Fair City usually airs four days a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. However, alike last Tuesday, the popular series has been taken off tonight's TV schedule. The show has been replaced by a repeat episode of The End of the World with Beanz. This episode of the docuseries sees Martin Beanz Warde, joined by comedian Gearóid Farrelly, travel to Dandora dump in Kenya following the trail of Ireland's textile waste. read more on fair city Fortunately Fair City will be back on air this Thursday, May 8 at 8.30pm. RTE viewers set for disappointment as hit soap pulled from TV schedule and replacement revealed in shake-up
RTE have made some significant changes to this week's TV schedule. Viewers will notice some differences to tomorrow's One's usual Tuesday line-up . The environmental docuseries sees host Martin Beanz Warde travelling to The Zad in France with Emma Doran to learn about the benefits of communal life. Thankfully, Fair City fans won't have to wait too long until their next fix as the show returns on air this Thursday, May 1, at 8.30pm. Damien tried to talk down an erratic Mark, who was spooked when there was a knock at the door of the pub. Still chasing her hunch about Mark's innocence, Fidelma questioned the veracity of Tyler's claims. More assured in her suspicions of Mark, Fidelma phoned Damien in her pursuit and discovered the hostage situation. Racing into action, Elaine provided CPR to a deteriorating Mairead while they waited for an ambulance. Advertisement Meanwhile, Tommy prevented an emotional Dean from expressing his feelings for an ailing Mairead. Shocked by Mairead's injuries, Mark attempted to apologise to his brother, but Damien rejected the apology. On tenterhooks, Dean and Damien comforted each other while a critically injured Mairead was rushed to hospital.
