Maya Jama is 'scouted by Amazon Prime to present a major new entertainment show' as her TV career continues to soar

Maya Jama has reportedly been scouted by Amazon to present a new entertainment show. The Love Island host, 30, is said to be in talks with streaming giant Prime Video to be the host of a 'family connections' show, according to the Sun. She is believed to be said to be in the running for a 'megabucks deal' as she could be in the line to be involved in a string of shows. A source told the publication: 'The latest discussions have been with Prime Video over an entertainment show. 'Amazon's streamer has made strong moves into reality with Clarkson's Farm and Molly Mae's series but so far haven't explored shiny-floor, entertainment programming, so Maya would be part of that. 'The show, which is exploring family connections, might not be the project they press ahead with for Maya but the interest to work with her is there.' Maya Jama, 30, has reportedly been scouted by Amazon to present a new entertainment show and is said to be in talks with streaming giant to be the host if a 'family connections' show MailOnline contacted Maya's representatives for a comment. The news comes after she reportedly 'landed a sizzling new role' in the second series of Guy Ritchie 's gangster drama The Gentlemen. Maya is thought to have secretly joined the cast of the hit Netflix show, with the official announcement due to be made. She will reportedly play the glamorous wife of a shady associate linked to Theo James ' lead character Eddie Horniman. Filming is already underway at the stunning Badminton House in Gloucestershire - a grand estate that doubles as the fictional Halstead Manor in the series. A source told The Sun: 'Maya is over the moon to land a role in such a massive show with Guy Ritchie at the helm. 'The Gentlemen was one of 2024's biggest series and it's such a glossy, sexy show. It's a perfect fit.' Maya teased fans earlier this year when she posted a Netflix script on social media , followed by a cryptic photo alongside The Gentlemen star Kaya Scodelario, who plays mob boss Susie Glass in the series. She previously hinted she might have been in meetings with the streamer by posting a Netflix branded cup to social media, but it was unclear where she was at the time. Back in January, the BBC Three Glow Up presenter revealed she had been auditioning behind the scenes for a 'dream role' and hinted she wanted to play something completely different from her bubbly TV persona. She said: 'My dream role, I would want to be like a villain or something that's completely not like me, so then it shows that I can actually act. 'And then people would be like, wow, two different people.' The Gentlemen, launched on Netflix last year and became an instant hit thanks to its gritty storyline, razor-sharp dialogue and Guy Ritchie's signature gangster flair. The plot follows Eddie Horniman, an ex-Army officer who inherits his family's estate only to discover it's at the centre of a massive cannabis empire. Series one featured a star-studded cast including Theo James, Vinnie Jones, and Ray Winstone. She hinted she might have been in meetings with the streaming platform earlier this month by posting a Netflix copy cup to her social media followers, but it was unclear where she was at the time It became one of the platform's biggest hits of the year after it reached 44million views in just four weeks. Maya is expected to juggle filming with her ongoing Love Island duties. She has presented Love Island since 2023, when she took over from Laura Whitmore, after finding fame on ITV's obscure show, Don't Hate the Playaz. The former girlfriend of rapper Stormzy has since gone from strength to strength career-wise and has gone from brand deals with fast fashion brand, Pretty Little Thing, to gracing the cover of Vogue and partnering with Dolce and Gabbana. It was only a matter of time before she was snapped up by Netflix, and on turning 30, the former radio host said: 'I feel like I need to set new goals because I have been so fortunate that all my childhood goals have been achieved now before I am 30.'

Maya Jama set for megabucks Amazon deal to host huge new TV show as ‘red-hot' star's career soars

MAYA Jama is being primed by Amazon to present a new entertainment show. The Love Island host has held talks with streaming giant Prime Video to front a 'family connections' format for a megabucks deal. 3 3 It tops a storming few months for Maya, 30, after The Sun revealed she had landed an acting role in Netflix's The Gentlemen. A source said: 'Maya is absolutely red-hot right now and she's been able to really diversify when it comes to projects. 'The latest discussions have been with Prime Video over an entertainment show. 'Amazon's streamer has made strong moves into reality with Clarkson's Farm and Molly Mae's series but so far haven't explored shiny-floor, entertainment programming, so Maya would be part of that. 'The show, which is exploring family connections, might not be the project they press ahead with for Maya but the interest to work with her is there.' Little lighthouse found in B.C. thrift store illuminates N.S. family connections

The search for an office lamp at a thrift store in Maple Ridge, B.C., has resulted in an outpouring of interest online and shed light on family ties thousands of kilometres away. Julia Ghersini, who works in the film industry, found the $14.99 wooden Nova Scotia lighthouse lamp at Value Village. She found it charming. When she turned it over to check the price she found an inscription that said "built & painted by John and Sheila Jordan, Brighton N.S." and a phone number in the 902 area code. "I thought, 'Oh my goodness, look at this,'" Ghersini said. Fascinated by the find, she bought it. She thought a co-worker from Nova Scotia would enjoy having something in the office to remind him of home. After some research, she learned John and Sheila Jordan had died. Sheila died in 2015 and John eight years later. Knowing that East Coast family connections run deep, Ghersini posted photos of the lamp on the "I love Nova Scotia" Facebook group. She went to bed thinking somebody might respond. "Waking up the next morning, I think at that point I was close to 1,000 likes on the first day," she said. "And then it just kind of kept growing and growing and growing. The comments that have been posted are just so heartwarming." To date, the post has just under 7,000 likes, 274 comments and over 500 shares. The post quickly reached John and Sheila's family in Nova Scotia. "I took a second and I was like, 'Does that say Uncle Johnny and Auntie Sheila?" said Ocean O'Neill, their great-niece from Bridgetown, N.S., who saw it first on her feed. O'Neill said the couple are remembered fondly by their family. She vividly remembers her childhood visits to their home near Digby. She said the couple crafted lighthouses, birdhouses and replicas of Maud Lewis's home as a retirement hobby. "Uncle Johnny's wood shop was behind the house and he was colour blind and that's why she painted everything, " O'Neill said. They would give them to family and friends and sell them as souvenirs to passing tourists. Each one was signed and numbered, she said. The post helped O'Neill discover a cousin she never knew existed. Amanda Farnsworth-Thibodeau, a great-niece from Marshalltown, N.S., said John was her godfather. She says she still cherishes a birdhouse he made for her. Farnsworth-Thibodeau likens the outpouring of memories and family connections to an East Coast kitchen party happening online. She believes one of the reasons for the popularity of the post is because "people missed that connection of the simpler things in life, getting gifts from people that are simple but really mean big things." The little Nova Scotia lighthouse now sits in Ghersini's B.C. office. She said it's nice to know that she's brightened so many people's day by posting about it on Facebook. "It's the first thing I turn on in the morning ... and the last thing I turn off at night," Ghersini said. Ghersini plans to visit Nova Scotia soon and says she thinks she has to bring the lighthouse "back to where it came from." MORE TOP STORIES
