As Dua Lipa steps out in a bridal cut-out gown, see 8 of the most dramatic looks from Paris Fashion Week

You know what they say — it's always fashion week somewhere. Hot off the heels of the men's shows in Paris last week, haute couture kicked off yesterday. And what is that exactly, we hear you ask? French for 'high sewing' or 'high dress-making', haute couture refers to custom clothing created by a select few Parisian fashion houses and designers. It's the crème de la crème of fashion basically, available to only high-paying clients or major celebrities. And while we fall into neither of those two categories, the week's street style provides plenty of major inspiration. Let's take a look at some of the best celeb looks we've seen all over our timelines so far… Outside the Schiaparelli show yesterday morning, rapper Cardi B posed with a live crow on a chain lead. Does it get more fashion week than that? Combined with the exaggerated power shoulders of her beaded gown, it was giving Disney villain in major way. Someone cast her quick... Also at the Schiaparelli show was singer Dua Lipa, keeping with the bird theme by wearing a floor-length white feathered gown with a giant keyhole shaped cut-out on the chest (a signature of the fashion house). The thigh-high front split showed off her black Mary-Jane heels. Given her recent engagement confirmation to actor Callum Turner, is this look a glimpse into the future for the bride-to-be? We can only hope. This morning's proceedings kicked off with the Chanel show, attended by singer Lorde. Her LBD featured a scoop neck and three-quarter length sleeves, and she accessorised with tortoiseshell sunglasses and plenty of diamond encrusted jewels (also obsessed with the upper arm bracelet). Simple yet très chic. Fresh from hard-launching her much-rumoured relationship with actor Paul Mescal, singer and Cosmo girl Gracie Abrams wore a white tiered mini dress to the Chanel show. Paired with a pair of black heeled pumps, this was a fresh and youthful look. Colombian singer Karol G matched the gilded door of the Schiaparelli show in her gold gown. The fitted bustier silhouette was embellished with beads, and finished off with a long train. Maximalism to the max. Actress Hunter Schafer's mint green gown made her waist look impossibly tiny. The strapless design featured delicate gold beading in a striped pattern, and she looked every inch the movie star. Long time Chanel girl Keira Knightley made a strong case for the halterneck dress in her monochromatic, tiered ensemble. The matching peep-toe mules and handbag couldn't be more ladylike. Would it be a fashion week without Naomi Campbell? The supermodel wore a gold power suit to the Chanel show, with a mohawk style up-do and oversized shades. Only she could! Stella Maxwell puts on a leggy display in sheer suspender tights as she steps out during haute couture fashion week in Paris

Stella Maxwell made sure to turn heads in an edgy black outfit as she partied at Costes in Paris during haute-couture fashion week on Monday night. The former Victoria Secret Angel, 35, looked incredible in a black minidress which she teamed with sexy sheer suspender tights. Stella put on a leggy display in a pair of towering stilettos and added a cool black and brown leather jacket. Styling her long blonde tresses loose, the British and Irish model completed her ensemble with a pair of large sunglasses. She was joined by American model Gabbriette, who cut a trendy figure in black flared trousers, a matching blouse and a pair of towering platform heels. The models seemed to be celebrating after Stella opened the Iris Van Herpen women's haute-couture fall show earlier in the night. She looked sensational in a blue and nude dress and trousers which boasted a dramatic cap which cascaded behind her as she strutted down the runway. It comes after Stella enjoyed dinner with Roberto Cavalli in Cannes with former Victoria's Secret Angels Grace Elizabeth, Barbara Palvin and Romee Strijd. The foursome looked incredible as they attended a lavish evening event, Ray of Sea, at Annex Beach as they attended the soiree during the 78th Film Festival in May. Stella and Romee, 29, were spotted at the red carpet event for The Phoenician Scheme premiere earlier in the night, and later headed to the fancy dinner together, accompanied by some old pals. Wearing a plunging mesh dress, Stella - who is the face of Max Factor - risked a wardrobe malfunction. She looked incredible in an animal print 2000s-style flowy maxi dress, which showed off her supermodel figure. The star added a pair of pointed black stilettos and a pop of turquoise eyeliner to complete her evening look. Meanwhile, Romee turned heads in a halter neck jumpsuit, which showed off her sculpted shoulders. She added a dangly earring and simple make up to complete the outfit. Barbara, 31, was also present at the dinner, reuniting with the other VS girls. She looked outstanding in a matching two-piece, consisting of a long sleeve top and maxi skirt. The Armani Beauty ambassador was in good spirits as she frolicked around on the beach as the sun started to set. Grace Elizabeth, 28, let her hair down for the stunning evening, wearing a silk low-cut spaghetti strap dress. She wore a sparkling diamond necklace which complimented her outfit perfectly. Stella and Romee led the model glamour as they stepped out in striking gowns that same night.

Paris Haute Couture Week 2025: Celine's spring 2026 show marks Michael Rider's first runway, honouring past designers Phoebe Philo and Hedi Slimane while looking forwards

The autumn/winter 2025-26 haute couture season officially begins today with Schiaparelli , but ready-to-wear brand Celine kicked things off on Sunday with its spring 2026 show. The event marked the debut of Michael Rider at the LVMH-owned French label after the successful six-and-a-half-year tenure of Hedi Slimane. While at Celine, Slimane wasn't a fan of fashion week – he showed his collections in locations such as Los Angeles, or in Paris but off schedule, and often released images and videos in lieu of holding shows – which means the maison has been off the radar for many editors and industry insiders. The Celine spring 2026 show featured plenty of whimsical costume jewellery. Photo: Handout Advertisement Debuting Rider's collection during haute couture week was a smart decision on the part of LVMH, as the calendar this season is a bit lacking in excitement. Dior – which recently parted ways with womenswear designer Maria Grazia Chiuri to make way for Jonathan Anderson – will not hold a show, while Chanel's collection has been designed by the fashion studio in anticipation of Matthieu Blazy's debut in October . Balenciaga will stage Demna 's last show as he gets ready to unveil his first collection for Gucci in September, and Italian label Valentino is not on the calendar. Meanwhile, it's unclear whether 90-year-old designer Giorgio Armani will be at his Armani Privé show, after he skipped the men's shows in Milan last month for health reasons. Belgian designer Glenn Martens' debut as creative director of experimental brand Maison Margiela will be a hot ticket. He takes over from John Galliano, who left the Italian-owned French label at the end of last year. Given the lack of high-profile outings, the Celine show was the week's most awaited event. Rider joins Celine from Ralph Lauren, but this is not the American designer's first job at a European house. Following a stint at French-owned Spanish label Balenciaga, Rider worked at Celine under Phoebe Philo , making his new role a homecoming of sorts. A giant silk scarf hung over the courtyard of Celine's headquarters for the spring 2026 show. Photo: Vincenzo La Torre Held at the label's headquarters on Rue Vivienne, the show took place in the courtyard of the 17th century building – where a giant printed scarf acted as a canopy of sorts – and in the upstairs salons. Silk scarves similar to that one appeared throughout the show, even tied as a bow at the neckline on one of the best looks, a strapless black gown. Celine is not a brand with rich archives to mine, but it still boasts a strong visual vocabulary thanks to Philo and Slimane. Rider did a great job of bringing back some of Philo's signature silhouettes, while also revisiting Slimane's tailoring and his penchant for elevating wardrobe staples such as skinny jeans and leather jackets.

El Salvador president threatens to send imprisoned gangsters to Paris Fashion Week

El Salvador's president said he would send inmates of the country's notorious mega-prison to France in the wake of a Paris Fashion Week show critiquing the government's treatment of the prisoners. Nayib Bukele criticised a collection debuted by Willy Chavarria, a Mexican-American designer, featuring models wearing outfits resembling inmate uniforms at El Salvador's Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot). The maximum-security prison was opened in 2023 on the orders of Mr Bukele as part of his war against organised crime, but human rights groups have raised concerns about poor conditions and a lack of due process. Responding to a message online saying Mr Chavarria's show was a tribute to Cecot prisoners, the El Salvador president wrote: 'We're ready to ship them all to Paris whenever we get the green light from the French government.' Mr Bukele's press team said the president's response showed his 'firm stance against the attempt to glorify criminality'. Mr Chavarria's Paris Fashion Week show opened with 35 men walking down the runway wearing white T-shirts and shorts that had been made in partnership with the American Civil Liberties Union. The models then dropped into kneeling positions with their heads bowed, recalling images which emerged from El Salvador in the months after the government adopted a harsher approach to gangs. Others wore T-shirts emblazoned with the word 'America' upside-down, which fashion critics speculated was a commentary on Mr Chavarria's belief the country is moving backwards. The designer also sent invitations for his Spring 2026 show in the form of replica immigration summons, with the documents certifying readers' 'right to exist', before asking them to attend for a 'presentation of humanity'. Tens of thousands of suspected gang members have been rounded up and incarcerated in El Salvador since a state of emergency was declared in March 2022 following a spike in murders and violent crimes. Hailing the success of the crackdown, the country's government reported that the homicide rate fell by nearly 70 per cent in 2023. However, concerns have been raised about conditions inside Cecot, as well as the possibility that some of those imprisoned may be innocent of gang involvement. Human Rights Watch claimed inmates were denied communication with relatives or lawyers, with reports claiming prisoners only leave their cells for 30 minutes a day. Alongside roughly 15,000 domestic prisoners, Cecot also holds more than 200 Venezuelans deported from the United States, accused of being members of the Tren de Aragua criminal gang. The Trump administration paid Mr Bukele's government millions of dollars to lock up the migrants, claiming they were criminals and gang members. Donald Trump invoked little-used wartime legislation in March to fly the migrants to El Salvador without court hearings. Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism.
