French luxury giant LVMH is exploring sale of Marc Jacobs brand

LVMH is working on a sale of its Marc Jacobs fashion brand as the luxury goods giant contends with a slump in demand, according to people familiar with the matter. The Paris-based conglomerate behind brands including Louis Vuitton, Dior and Moet Hennessy had approached potential buyers including Reebok owner Authentic Brands, about a sale of the fashion label, which it has owned since 1997, two people said. The attempt to offload one of its smaller brands follows a rough stretch for LVMH, which is controlled by French billionaire Bernard Arnault. The group has seen its share price slump 19 per cent over the past year, driven by a downturn in the luxury goods sector. LVMH and its competitors have been hurt by a combination of trade uncertainty affecting consumers around the world, weakening demand from Chinese shoppers and price rises that have turned away US customers. The talks, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, were ongoing and there were no guarantees that a deal will be concluded, the people said. LVMH and Authentic Brands declined to comment. On Jul 24 (Thu) LVMH said its operating profit declined by 15 per cent to just over €9 billion (US$10.44 billion; S$13.42 billion) in the first half of the year, a slightly better performance than analysts had forecast. LVMH's core fashion and leather goods business reported a steep decline in quarterly sales, highlighting continued weak demand for luxury goods after a period of price rises and heightened economic uncertainty. On Thursday's earnings call, Cecile Cabanis, LVMH's finance chief, said the company, known as a serial acquirer, was open to selling brands that do not fit within its portfolio, citing the decision to offload stakes in the Off-White and Stella McCartney fashion labels last year. 'We will not keep brands if we believe they are not a good add-on, or we are not the right operator to operate them,' said Cabanis. LVMH's last big deal was its US$16.2 billion acquisition of US jeweller Tiffany. Founded in 1984 by Marc Jacobs, the eponymous brand is known for its designer handbags and upmarket accessories. Jacobs served as LVMH's creative director between 1997 and 2014.

We're talking embroidered cotton vests that are cool without trying, and sequinned crochet mini skirts that catch the sunset light just right. Add a short balloon dress or a clean, coordinated set to the mix and you're ready for everything from morning coffee runs to sunset drinks. The collection's knit halter tops and airy layers offer just the right balance of comfort and style when the temperature rises but your schedule doesn't slow down. For the Beach (Or Your Mood Board) When it's time to escape, Pull&Bear shifts into full vacation mode. The island-inspired side of the collection goes big on rustic textures, open backs, and flowy fits. There's something inherently carefree about the strappy crochet dresses, fold-over shorts, and halter tops, made for warm breezes and saltwater hair days. Even if your idea of a getaway is a backyard hang or beach-adjacent brunch, these are the pieces that feel like summer. Bonus: they pack light and wear even lighter. Accessories That Get the Assignment Pull&Bear's seasonal accessories add just the right finishing touch. Beaded earrings, plaited shopper bags, lariat necklaces, and embellished flat sandals bring a playful, boho touch without feeling overdone. B.C. woman's number listed without permission on American lost cat T-shirt

Over the last year, Surrey's Natasha Lavoie has been receiving dozens of calls about people finding her lost cat Torbo. But Lavoie's cat is actually named Mauser, and isn't missing. Lavoie and her partner Jonathan McCurrach investigated and found out that an American fashion brand called Wisdumb had listed her number on a T-shirt depicting a lost cat, without her permission. The couple says the label hasn't been co-operative after they reached out.

‘Next chapter': Australia's ‘hottest WAG's' huge career move

The woman known as 'Australia's hottest WAG' has announced she will be moving back to Melbourne within the next month, but she says Adelaide will always remain her 'second home'. Chelsea Becirevic, a successful model and influencer in her own right, has been dating AFL star Ivan Soldo since 2022. However, the 24-year-old is now saying farewell to living full-time with the Port Adelaide ruckman as she heads to the Victorian capital ahead of launching their new fashion brand. In a video uploaded to her Instagram story, Ms Becirevic shared a clip of the loungeroom in a luxury property, captioning it, 'Next chapter' with a key and house emoji, and tagging the location as Melbourne, Victoria. In another post, she revealed: 'Moving back to Melb in a month!' before asking her followers for beauty salon recommendations in South Yarra and Prahran, two of Melbourne's most stylish, upscale suburbs. She admits the decision to move was 'kind of random and unplanned,' triggered after they fell in love with a property in Melbourne. According to Adelaide Now, the move will enable her to dedicate more time to their label, I'M TAKEN, which is said to feature athletic wear and elevated essentials. Soldo plans to stay in Adelaide at their shared home during the AFL season and is contracted with Port Adelaide until the end of the 2026 season. 'So I'll be setting up and working on our brand from there, while still going back and forth to Adelaide during Ivan's season – he's very settled there and obviously his work is based in Adelaide, but it's such a quick trip so it's pretty easy,' she told the publication. She believes Melbourne is the ideal place to develop the business long-term, thanks to its creative vibe and strong fashion culture. Ms Becirevic, originally from the Gold Coast, moved to South Australia from Melbourne at the end of 2023, to support her partner's career. She described the move as 'a big adjustment' and admitted that the City of Churches was 'not for her' but knew it would only be a temporary home. In 2024, the couple attracted intense media attention when Soldo requested a trade from Port Adelaide to a Melbourne AFL club after just one year on his contract, amid rumours that Chelsea's unhappiness living in Adelaide played a role. Ms Becirevic publicly dismissed those rumours, saying she had been unfairly blamed for her partner's career decisions and that it 'wasn't anyone's business'. Long-distance relationships aren't anything new for them. The influencer briefly moved to Dubai in May 2024 to work as an Emirates flight attendant but gave up the role in September to be with her footballer boyfriend back home in Australia. She claimed that she 'hated' being in a long-distance relationship, which was part of the reason why she came home, along with job dissatisfaction. Hopefully the distance proves easier for the couple this time around.
