Scarborough senior dies after getting hit by pickup truck in Wasaga Beach: OPP

An Ontario Provincial Police vehicle is parked at the Huronia West detachment. Provincial police are investigating a fatal collision in Wasaga Beach Saturday evening where they say a senior pedestrian died after getting hit by a pickup truck. According to Huronia West OPP, detachment officers were dispatched to the crash at around 8:15 p.m. on River Road West between Village Gate Drive and Bell Parks Road. Police confirm that the 73-year-old pedestrian from Scarborough died in the incident. Simcoe County paramedics and OPP traffic incident management and enforcement team were also involved in the response and the investigation. According to OPP's social media posts, the area was closed by 8:59 p.m. Saturday evening and reopened by 2:54 a.m. Sunday morning. Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with footage or additional information about the crash is asked to contact Huronia West OPP.

Pedestrian hit and killed on Manitoba highway Tuesday morning

A pedestrian was killed early Tuesday morning when he was struck by a truck on the Trans-Canada Highway in Headingley. Around 3 a.m. Tuesday, Headingley RCMP received a report of a fatal collision involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian. A pickup truck was travelling west on Highway 1, near McGuckin Road in Headingley, when it hit a pedestrian who was walking on the highway, police said. The pedestrian, a 67-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 52-year-old woman from Winnipeg, was not injured. Headingley RCMP, along with a forensic collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate the crash.

(Jacob Estrin/CTV News Toronto) The alleged driver involved in a hit-and-run in Scarborough last month that left a 32-year-old woman dead has surrendered himself to police. In a news release on Thursday, Toronto police confirmed the driver, identified as 24-year-old Arman Hakobyan, was arrested earlier in the day. Investigators had been searching for the driver who fled after striking a pedestrian in the area of Bridlewood Boulevard and Sheppard Avenue East on the evening of May 16. Police said a black Hyundai Sonata was travelling east on Sheppard Avenue when it hit the pedestrian crossing the street at the time. She died at the scene. Hours later, police found the vehicle involved in a nearby apartment building with extensive damage. RCMP charge man with 10 offences after fatal collision in Wolfville, N.S.

RCMP charged a man with 10 offences after investigating a fatal collision on Hwy. 101 in Wolfville last October, said a Monday news release. Police safely arrested Jeffrey Doyle, 52, from Kentville, N.S. He is charged with: two counts of criminal negligence causing death three counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm five counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance Doyle was released with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court on July 9. Kings District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to the five-vehicle collision on Oct. 12 at approximately 8:26 a.m. A 62-year-old woman and a child from East Kingston, N.S., both occupants of a black GMC Acadia were both pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant, a 40-year-old woman was transported with life threatening injuries via LifeFlight, said the release. Police said the investigation that led to charges against Doyle was supported by RCMP forensic identification and a collision reconstructionist. Toronto police investigating after an elderly man was struck and killed near Eglinton Avenue East and Torrance Road on Saturday May 31, 2025 (CP24 photo). A 65-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street late Saturday night in Scarborough, Toronto police say. The incident happened near Eglinton Avenue East and Torrance Road just before 10 p.m. Officials say the man was reportedly crossing the street from the south side before he was struck in the centre lane of Eglinton Avenue East. Emergency crews later found the man suffering from life-threatening injuries and rushed him to hospital, where he later succumb to his injuries. The driver, who police identify as a 41-year-old man, did remain on scene at the time of the collision, though it's unclear if any charges will be laid.
