US rapper Mack Maine announces son's tragic death as tributes pour in
Mack Maine has announced the death of his son. The 'Tapout' rapper, who has collaborated with hip-hop greats like Lil Wayne, Future and Nicki Minaj, took to Instagram to reveal that his young son Isaiah, also known as Zeke, died earlier this month from a fatal seizure. He was 20, TMZ reports. 'Been trying to build up the strength to put up this post since last night so bear with me,' Maine, 43, began on Monday. 'On July 16th I received a call that my son Isaiah (Zeke) passed away at his home in California from a seizure,' the New Orleans native continued. 'I'm still in shock and still processing the fact that he's gone. Still confused, still questioning life and why my child and not me.' Maine, who was named president of Lil Wayne's record label Young Money Entertainment in 2009, went on to call fatherhood 'one of the greatest gifts' in life. He wrote that his son's passing has been a 'pain I've personally never felt before.' 'The experience and bond with you and I brought me purpose,' Maine captioned several photos of his late son. 'YOU were my biggest inspiration and were the reason I got out of the bed when everyone else snoozed.' 'Your smile brightened my dark days as you were my SONshine,' the record exec continued. 'Your soul was made of innocence and your heart was pure.' Monday also marked the Always Strapped rapper's 43rd birthday and the second anniversary of his father's death. Maine asked that his fans 'hug the ones you love' and 'tell them you love them.' The rap label exec, whose real name is Jermaine Anthony Preyan, ended his touching tribute with a shoutout to both his late son and dad. 'To Zeke I love you and I know I'll see you again,' he wrote. 'To my Pops I miss you big dawg and I know you met Zeke on the other side with open arms.' 'I vow to continue to make yall proud I just ask yall continue to walk with me and pick me up when I fall … I need the strength …. Until we meet again … LOVE,' Maine concluded. Many of Maine's fans and peers offered their condolences. 'I don't even believe what I just read,' Nicki Minaj, 42, wrote. 'This can't be real.' 'I love you so much,' she continued. 'You guys raised the most incredible young man. He was such a perfect boy. I have no words to express what you must be feeling. No words.' 'We are praying for your whole family, Mack,' the singer concluded her message. 'We love you so much.'

Mack Maine, rapper and longtime Lil Wayne confidant, has shared the news that his son Isaiah died earlier this month following a seizure. Isaiah, whom Maine called Zeke, was just 20. Maine shared the news via Instagram on Monday, explaining what happened in a long caption accompanied by a carousel of family photos. He revealed that Isaiah had died on 16 July. "I'm still in shock and still processing the fact that he's gone," Maine wrote of his son. "Still confused, still questioning life and why my child and not me." "Zeke, I thank you for granting me one of the greatest gifts I've ever received, fatherhood!" he continued. "The experience and bond with you and I brought me purpose... Since 16 July, your village has been crushed, and we're hurting. This is a pain I've personally never felt before, but I'm still trusting and believing in God's plan and God's will and mercy. You'll always be my Prince." Nicki Minaj was quick to respond: "I don't even believe what I just read. You guys raised the most incredible young man. We are praying for your whole family, Mack. We love you so much." Maine, real name Jermaine Anthony Preyan, was named president of Lil Wayne's record label Young Money Entertainment in 2009. He co-wrote several of Wayne's singles, including How to Love and Got Money.

Brock Purdy became the latest San Francisco 49ers star to join the fatherhood club. Purdy's wife Jenna gave birth to the couple's first child, Millie Joleen Purdy. Purdy left the team late last week for his daughter's birth before returning to practice on Sunday. Jenna Purdy announced the news of the couple's new daughter on Monday on social media that included a picture of her and Brock holding Millie Joleen with the caption: 'Life just became a whole lot sweeter." The Purdy's new arrival came nearly two weeks after star running back Christian McCaffrey and his wife, Olivia Culpo, had their first child, Colette Annalise McCaffrey. 'The guys have matured an incredible amount in the last couple days,' fullback Kyle Juszcyk said with a smile on Monday. 'They both have terrible dad jokes. They both got their dad strength overnight. Just so happy for both of them and their families. They're going to be incredible fathers. We're all just so excited for them.' The Purdys met when both were students at Iowa State and got married in March 2024. It's been an eventful year already for the family with Brock Purdy signing a five-year, $265 million contract extension in May and the couple buying a new house for the offseason in Nashville, Tennessee. Padded practice The Niners had their first padded practice of training camp with rookie defensive linemen Mykel Williams and C.J. West both faring well in one-on-one pass rushing drills. The start of pads brought an added energy to the session that was the longest yet of training camp for the 49ers. 'It was fun,' Juszczyk said. 'I really felt like I was craving it. I said to Christian a couple days ago, I'm really excited for some physicality. It's been a long time. It was fun to go out there and be able to hit somebody.' Injury updates Defensive end Tarron Jackson was released from the hospital after being taken off the field by a stretcher following a scary injury Sunday. Jackson was back at the facility and is still being evaluated for a neck injury. Receiver Jauan Jennings missed practice a day after leaving early with a calf injury. There is no word on the extent of the injury. Cornerback Renardo Green and receiver Jacob Cowing remain sidelined by hamstring injuries and DT Jordan Elliott also was out for undisclosed reasons.
