Harrowing new details emerge after a young female cop was allegedly knocked out during a routine welfare check

A young policewoman was unconscious for more than an hour after she was allegedly kicked in the stomach and punched in the head in an alleged 'sickening' assault. The Mount Druitt constable, 23, and her female colleague, 22, were allegedly attacked while conducting a welfare check in Bidwill in Sydney 's west on Friday night. Concerned members of the public contacted police after seeing Khi Tremain, 19, lying in the middle of Bunya Road. Police were trying to talk to Tremain when he allegedly lashed out and knocked out one of the female officers, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. He then allegedly turned on her female colleague, who was punched in the face before she deployed capsicum spray. Tremain was arrested at the scene and then allegedly attacked a third officer, 25, by biting him on the arm en route to hospital. The policeman has since been forced to undergo testing for bloodborne illnesses and must now wait for results before he is medically cleared. The female officer who was unconscious for 70 minutes was discharged from hospital the next morning. She and her two injured colleagues are still 'sore and shaken'. 'I've spoken to all the officers, they are sore and shaken and the events of last night are now starting to dawn on them, how serious it was, how much more serious it could have been,' Mt Druitt Superintendent Darrin Batchelor said. He added that the incident was traumatic for everyone involved, including police who arrived on scene to find their colleague unconscious in the middle of the road. Aerial footage of the scene showed her surrounded by dozens of paramedics and police. 'They didn't know what had occurred, whether the female officer had been stabbed or shot,' Supt Batchelor said. 'The police force is a family, so the events of last night has affected the entire police force.' Acting NSW Police Commissioner Peter Thurtell labelled the alleged attack as appalling. 'This is a sickening attack and those officers were just doing their job,' he said. 'Incidents like these clearly demonstrate the bravery and courage of officers who are just doing their best to protect the community. 'Police officers put themselves on the frontline and in danger every single day, they deserve respect not violence.' Tremain was charged with three counts of assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, and three counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty following his release from hospital. Tremain remains in custody and will face Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

Man charged over alleged assault of three police officers in Sydney's west

A man has been charged after three police officers were allegedly assaulted in Sydney's west, with one being knocked unconscious for more than an hour. Two female officers were called to a mental health incident in Bidwill on Friday evening, where they found a man sitting on the side of the road. Police said the man stood up as the two officers approached him before allegedly assaulting a 23-year-old female officer by kicking and punching her and knocking her to the ground. The second officer, a 22-year-old woman, was also punched in the face while attempting to arrest the man. NSW Police Detective Superintendent Darrin Batchelor said another patrol car arrived at the scene shortly after and saw the female officer lying unconscious on the ground. "They immediately got out of the car and assisted in the arresting of that offender." Capsicum spray was used to subdue the 19-year-old man, who was arrested and put into a patrol car. He also later allegedly bit a male officer on the arm while being transported to the hospital for treatment. The 23-year-old officer remained unconscious for up to 70 minutes while being taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition. She had since been discharged from hospital. The 22-year-old female officer was taken to hospital as a precaution, and the male officer who was allegedly bitten is awaiting blood tests results. The 19-year-old man has now been released from hospital and charged with three counts of assault police officer in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm and three counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty. He will face Parramatta Local Court on Sunday. Acting NSW Police Commissioner Peter Thurtell said the alleged assaults were an example of the risks police officers faced on a daily basis. "I commend the bravery and courage of the officers involved — they deserve respect not violence. "Police attend these welfare-related jobs on a daily basis, and incidents like this one highlight the risks and dangers officers face when they are out on our streets protecting the local community."
