Why Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding week got off to 'risky' start with foam party

Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos will finally wed Lauren Sanchez this week in Venice, Italy - but things could already be off to a rocky start after they kicked off the festivities with a foam party on their yacht. The couple were seen having a blast on Bezos' $500 million Koru yacht, covered in foam as they playfully lathered themselves while in skimpy swimwear to keep cool in the Italian heat. The multi-day-long extravaganza of celebrations are set for this week as the couple tie the knot in front of a rumored 200 guests, which include Kim Kardashian, Ivanka Trump and Orlando Bloom. Both Ivanka and her family, as well as designer Diane von Furstenberg were seen arriving in Venice yesterday for what's been dubbed as the wedding of the year. The couple are said to have rented out a number of places in the Italian city to celebrate the lavish, love-filled weekend. However, they've already had to move locations due to safety concerns amid protests - originally, they had planned a huge party planned at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia on Saturday night but it has now been moved to another venue in the Arsenale area of the city, according to local media. Although the big day isn't even here yet, the two already seem to be enjoying themselves as they partied it up at their foam extravaganza - but according to doctors - who had no knowledge of this specific party - it was a dangerous choice before their wedding. Dr. Michael Eng, an orthopedic surgeon at Hoag Orthopedic Institute in California, told exclusively that foam parties can be 'scary' because of all the slipping and sliding that happens, potentially causing bodily injury. 'In the process of catching yourself or trying to hold on to something, even the tiniest amount of slip can cause a sudden jolt in the body,' Dr. Eng explained to 'Catching yourself mid slip can tweak your spine, potentially leading to discomfort or worse,' he said. Dr. Eng shared that he was less concerned about someone taking a fall, but more about the strange movements we can make with our bodies when we try to prevent ourselves from slipping. 'What could be worse than being on a yacht with all of your friends, and you have thrown out your back?' he shared. Dr. Rayva Khanna, a dermatology resident physician at Georgetown University Medical Center, seemed to agree that foam parties could be dangerous, but for different reasons. 'From a dermatology perspective, foam parties increase risk of irritant contact dermatitis and or chemical burns. These injuries occur due to direct exposure of chemicals on the skin agents present in the party foam,' Dr. Khanna revealed to exclusively. 'Particularly, foam with harsh detergents and biocidal additives can actually increase the risk of more severe skin reactions such as blistering or ulceration,' Dr. Khanna said. She advised that if you 'develop skin burning or pain' from attending a foam party, you should remove the contaminated clothes and wash off with water. 'Persistent or severe reactions may require topical steroids or other medications from your dermatologist,' Dr. Khanna offered. 'Try to minimize skin contact with foam using protective clothing.' Dr. Eng also recommended that you be mindful about what kind of footwear you're wearing to a foam party, if you're due to attend one this summer. 'You have to assume that the floor is going to be wet, and when the oil from the bottom of our shoes mixes with water, it's pretty much an adult slip and slide,' he shared. 'It's even more of a risk that these events are often mixed in with dancing, which is just a recipe for accidents. Wear shoes that have as good of a grip as you can find, swimming shoes could actually be a life saver in these situations,' he added. The orthopedic surgeon also recommend that those who already have back and spine issues move slowly and stay away from the center of the dance floor. Now, it's unclear if the couple will be hosting any other foam parties this weekend, but it seems like anything's possible for Sánchez and Bezos during the biggest time of their lives. It was recently revealed to the Daily Mail by a source in Italy that each guest will be receiving hand-blown glassware by local glassmaker Laguna B. The glassware company was originally created by Marie Brandolini, who left New York in 1988 to live in Venice. All of the glasses have different motifs and designs, with one large-size cup running customers $167. The handmade glassware are not the only things that guests will be coming back home with. The insider told Daily Mail that a wedding planner who is not working this event has heard that guests will receive other 'opulent' gifts for attending. But of course, guests will also be treated to a few other luxurious surprises during their time in Italy for the wedding. The source confirmed to the Daily Mail that local bakery Rosa Salva Venetia will be providing pastries for the extravagant weekend. Separate sources recently told the Daily Mail that the festivities are expected to cost $20 million. Many things went into the estimate of the total cost, including transportation fees, her wedding dress and catering.

SARAH VINE: This tacky modern breed of super-rich have no respect for anyone... but this is the vile reason why Venice is the perfect setting for the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez

Have you ever been to a foam party? It's the kind of thing that's popular in nightclubs, where scantily clad people, usually but not necessarily in a chemically altered state, writhe around in bubbles to music. Personally, I would rather boil my head than swap suds with anyone in public. And besides, at 58 I would look and feel pretty pathetic trying to take part in what is essentially an 18-30 sport.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez get steamy at foam party aboard $500M superyacht

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are living it up ahead of their big day. The couple were photographed packing on the PDA during a foam party aboard the Amazon founder's super yacht, Koru, off the island of Cres in Croatia, over the weekend. Sanchez, 55, could be seen wearing a red and black string bikini, which she paired with a large sunhat and a pair of sunglasses. Bezos wore a pair of black swim shorts with blue designs on them, also accessorizing with sunglasses and a white bucket hat. In the photos obtained by Fox News Digital, the couple could be seen enjoying the party with their arms around each other in an intimate embrace while covered in foam, as they celebrated with friends. A happy birthday banner could be seen hanging elsewhere on the yacht, and it is believed the foam party was in celebration of Sanchez's son Evan's 19th birthday. Other photos showed the couple lounging together on a daybed on a smaller boat. The two are expected to tie the knot on June 27 as part of a three-day extravaganza in Venice, Italy. Due to protests from locals, the couple were reportedly forced to change one of their venues. This latest celebration rounds out a series of pre-wedding events the couple have enjoyed over the past two months leading up to their big day. They were previously photographed on Bezos' $500 million yacht, as he got handsy with the 55-year-old former entertainment journalist while docked off the coast of Cannes, France. While in Cannes, Sánchez hosted a star-studded bachelorette party on Thursday, May 15, at the restaurant Lafayette's. The 13 women in attendance included Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria, Kris Jenner and Katy Perry. Sanchez shared photos of the evening on her Instagram, expressing how thankful she was for everyone who came together to celebrate with her before she married Bezos. "Forever starts with friendship, surrounded by the women who've lifted me up, illuminated my path in dark times, and shaped my heart along the way," she wrote in the caption. She also posed with Longoria on the red carpet at the Global Gift Gala while at the Cannes Film Festival. Longoria presented Sanchez with the Global Gift Women Empowerment Award at the ceremony, which she received for her philanthropy work, most notably with the Bezos Earth Fund and the organization, This Is About Humanity. Later that week, she attended the amfAR Gala at the Cannes Film Festival with Bezos. While she walked the carpet on her own, the two posed for photos inside the event.
