It's National Hot Dog Month! Here are 15 places to get a hot dog in Louisville
Who doesn't love a hot dog?
July is National Hot Dog Month, something the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council promotes each year. The council also founded National Hot Dog Day, held the third Wednesday in July, which this year falls on July 16.
To celebrate, here are 15 places around Louisville where you can get a hot dog.
WHAT: This food stand has been grilling up hot dogs in NuLu for the better part of a year. Menu items include dogs served Detroit style, with chili, cheese, mustard and chopped onions, Memphis style with baked beans, pulled pork, slaw and barbecue sauce, New York style with sauerkraut, grilled onions and spicy brown mustard and more.

WHAT: Crave, a franchise serving hot dogs and barbecue, opened its first express location inside Walmart at 7101 Cedar Springs Blvd, in May. A standalone brick-and-mortar location is set to open later this year at 601 E. Jefferson St.

WHAT: Dairy Del serves a variety of milkshakes, sundaes, hand-dipped ice cream cones, soft-serve ice cream and smoothies. For a cheap, savory snack, try the Polish sausage hot dogs, burgers, popcorn chicken, nachos or pretzels.

WHAT: This Pasadena, California-born chain of restaurants opened its first location in the area in 2024. Hot dogs on the menu include options such as the Chili Idol, which features Haus chili, cheddar cheese sauce and onions, the Old Town, which features smoked bacon, caramelized onions, chipotle aioli, pickled jalapenos and cojita cheese and the SoooCali, which features wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions and spicy basil aioli.

WHAT: Get It On a Bun at Booty's offers hot dogs including its Booty Dog, a smoked sausage, chili, two kinds of cheese, grilled pepper and onions and the chili cheese dog, a 1/3 pound Angus all-beef dog, chili and shredded cheese and smoked sausage. It also serves the Booty Delux Burger, a Kentucky State Fair award-winning hamburger that is topped with smoked Gouda, applewood bacon, grilled pepper/onion medley, chipotle mayo, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted brioche bun.

WHAT: Sonic's hot dogs are all beef and served in a bakery bun. The All American is topped with ketchup, yellow mustard, relish, and diced onions; the foot long quarter pound coney is grilled and topped with warm chili and melty cheddar cheese and the corn dog is a hot dog wrapped in sweet corn batter fried to a crispy golden brown.
