Axel Tuanzebe sues Man United for alleged medical negligence

Axel Tuanzebe is suing his former club Manchester United for alleged negligent medical advice received during his time at Old Trafford. Defender Tuanzebe, who left United in the summer of 2023, filed a legal claim with the High Court last week in relation to a period from July 2022 involving an injury he had at the time. It is considered a high-value claim, which is understood to be more than £1m. He suffered hip and foot injuries during his spell at Old Trafford and the now-27-year-old was sidelined through injury for 195 days in his final season there before being loaned to Stoke in January 2023 and then joining Ipswich as a free agent in September 2023. At the time, a statement on United's official website about his exit read: 'His departure is an emotional one for the player and many at the club who have known and helped nurture him over the years. A fine character, he leaves United universally respected as a credit to himself and his family. 'Everyone at the club would like to extend our best wishes to Axel as he embarks upon the next chapter of his career. We would also like to thank him for always representing Manchester United with class and dignity.' After two years with the Tractor Boys, where he battled more injuries but made more than 40 appearances as first-choice right-back, he joined Burnley earlier this month after their recent promotion from the Championship. Tuanzebe joined United's academy at the age of eight and captained them at every level before making his senior debut in January 2017. However, he made just 37 appearances for the first team in the following six years. He had multiple spells on loan with Aston Villa and Napoli, while his final appearance for the Red Devils came in the 2021 Europa League final loss to Villarreal, where he scored in the shootout during an 11-10 defeat on penalties. Having represented England Under-21s, he now plays for DR Congo at senior international level – winning three caps since his 2024 debut. Tuanzebe's lawyers, Simons Muirhead Burton, and Manchester United have both declined to comment on the case so far.

Married At First Sight UK star reveals his son, 7, was rushed to hospital after suffering a nasty football injury

Married At First Sight star Ryan Livesey has revealed he had to rush his seven-year-old son to hospital on Friday after he split his head open in a nasty football injury. The doting dad-of-one, 29, took to his social media over the weekend to share the devastating news. In a now-expired Instagram Story, Ryan - who hails from Manchester - shared the details of his son's graphic injury. He penned: 'A&E on a Friday night… Leo's split his head open playing football.' In the next story, Ryan showed his fans the graphic extent of the injury. Leo had a bandage on the back of his head, with blood visible underneath the white plaster. Ryan didn't share any other updates beyond this, suggesting Leo was back home and well. He regularly shares content on his little one on socials, with the most recent being on Saturday after the injury. Ryan, who became a dad at 22, wrote: 'He may outgrow my lap, but never my heart. Watching him grow is my life's greatest joy.' It's not the first time it has happened, as in December, the former semi-professional footballer revealed Leo was rushed to hospital. Leo, who Ryan shares with a former partner, wore pajamas and a dressing gown as he sat on the bed with an iPad on his lap. Ryan did not share the nature of his son's condition, simply writing, 'I love you,' alongside the photo with a blue love-heart emoji. The health scare happened just weeks after the reality star celebrated his son's seventh birthday. Ryan has battled his own health woes in the past, having battled cancer twice. The TV personality learned he was going to be a dad at 22 in 2017 - but was diagnosed with stage two bladder cancer just three months later. He fought the disease but it returned 18 months later. He is now in remission. Ryan went on MAFS UK earlier last year and was partnered with makeup artist Sionainn Carmichael, 29. They quit the show in October after just two weeks following an explosive argument. Sionainn broke down in tears as she admitted to feeling uncomfortable because Ryan had shown a different side to him off camera, which reminded her of an ex. Explaining their decision to leave to the other couples, Ryan said their blow out had erupted over him tying his shoelaces.

See the shocking injury boy, 11, suffered when he was IMPALED on a metal pole while celebrating his brother's birthday at footy final

A young Auckland FC supporter has suffered a shocking injury after being impaled on a metal pole while leaving the A-League semifinal on Saturday evening, turning a family birthday celebration into a night of distress. Jude, a passionate 11-year-old football fan, was leaving the Mt Smart Stadium with his family after Auckland's 2-0 loss when the incident occurred. 'Just after we'd crossed the main road, Jude was walking just in front of me – not seeing a waratah (metal pole), randomly sticking out of the ground,' Jude's mother Mary explained to The New Zealand Herald. 'Next I heard him cry out and looked down to see blood and yellow flesh coming out of his shin where the waratah had impaled [him]. 'We realised he would need to go to the hospital, so I went with Jude in a taxi, waving to my husband and other three children who were all looking very worried.' A football scarf was used as a tourniquet to slow down the bleeding before Jude was rushed to Starship Children's Hospital for emergency surgery. 'We arrived at Starship and Jude was in agony,' Mary said. 'While waiting to be seen [he] started sobbing saying, 'I feel so awful for Wilf (Jude's younger brother), it's his birthday!'.' The injury, which fortunately missed major tendons, will sideline Jude from playing football for up to a month, causing him to miss out on upcoming tournaments. Jude's mother was perplexed as to how the metal pole had been allowed to be placed where it had been. 'Jude was very lucky that it didn't go into tendons or muscle,' she said. 'I would not want this to happen to anyone else and want to ensure that this is dealt with so that this or worse doesn't happen to anyone else.' Auckland Council told the Herald that the pole has now been removed. 'Unfortunately, that was too late for Jude and we're hoping he has a speedy recovery and is able to get back onto the football field as quickly as possible,' a spokesperson said.
