Ottawa firefighters battle overnight garage fire in Richmond

(Andrew Adlington/CTV News Ottawa) Ottawa firefighters were called to a garage engulfed in flames in the community of Richmond overnight. In a news release, the Ottawa Fire Services say they received multiple 911 callers reporting a house on fire in the 500 block of Filly Terrace near Meynell Road at approximately 3:46 a.m. Saturday. On arrival, crews found the garage of the single-family home was 'fully involved' and dispatched additional resources to the scene. Firefighters began a 'fast attack' on the flames and advanced a hose line inside the home. Ottawa fire says crews were able to extinguish and contain the flames to their area of origin before they could spread to other parts of the home or other structures nearby. The fire was declared under control at 4:17 a.m. The Ottawa Paramedic Service responded to the scene but did not report any injuries. Ottawa Victim Services, which provides support for displaced residents, was sent to the scene. The cause of the fire is unclear.

Ventura County firefighters battle garage fire at Simi Valley home
Ventura County firefighters responded to a home in Simi Valley Thursday afternoon after a garage fire. The Ventura County Fire Department said they received calls around 11:48 a.m. about a possible explosion on the 1600 block of Edmund Street. When firefighters arrived, they quickly took a "defensive posture" and upgraded the fire to a 2-alarm. One person was taken to the hospital and their condition is unknown. The Simi Valley Police Department is asking people to avoid the area of Fitzgerald Road between Hudspeth Avenue and Gibson Avenue until further notice. It is unclear if the fire was caused by an explosion. There are no reports of any fatalities at this time.

No injuries in east London garage fire
London fire crews responded to a garage fire in the 20 block of Graydon Street on June 4, 2025. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire, and no injuries were reported. Fire officials determined the fire started due to electrical issues. The damage is estimated at $80,000.

Decatur Fire Department responds to garage fire
DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Decatur Fire Department was able to extinguish a garage fire Friday afternoon before it could fully spread to a nearby home. At approximately 2:55 p.m., the department responded to the report of a detached garage fire in the 2100 block of E Whitmer Street in Decatur. Upon arrival, crews found the garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire beginning to spread to the nearby residence. Urbana Fire Department responds to house fire Firefighters immediately started an aggressive fire attack, successfully extinguishing the garage fire and preventing further spread to the home. The quick response and effective tactics of the firefighters resulted in the damage being limited to the exterior of the residence. Additionally, the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and was undergoing renovations. After fire suppression efforts, the Decatur Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit responded to the scene. The cause of this fire remains under investigation. In total, Battalion 1, Engine 6, Truck 2, Engine 7, Engine 4 and Engine 3 all responded to the fire. Ameren also provided help as an assisting agency on scene. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. No injuries in Saskatoon garage fire
A garage fire in the 700 block of 12th Street East was brought under control by firefighters on Friday morning. The incident was reported at around 11:25 a.m., and crews responded quickly to prevent the flames from spreading to the adjacent house and other nearby structures, according to the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD). Upon arrival, firefighters found the detached garage fully engulfed in flames, and after applying water, the fire was contained and extinguished. A thorough search confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated the area, and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. As of 12:56 a.m. on Saturday, a fire investigator was on the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. SFD says further information will be released as it becomes available.
