Strathroy-Caradoc eyes 2026 green bin program
Strathroy-Caradoc municipal staff to will conduct a feasibility report on possible green bin program. The municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc is investigating a green bin program — a waste-management system focused on diverting organic waste, like food scraps and yard waste, from landfills. Councilors have asked for a staff report in advance of the next municipal budget. If approved, the program might be operational by late 2026. 'The program will only be mandated to be implemented in the urban areas and the rural areas. I don't believe there's really a benefit. Anyone who wants to compost and has, you know, a quarter or half an acre is going to be doing that already,' said Greg Willsie, the Ward 2 councillor who raised the concept. Approximately 10,000 homes in Strathroy and Mt. Brydges are expected to receive the new service if it proceeds.
